Description

Technical Field

Background
In the technical field of Content Delivery Networks (CDN), a GSLB device can schedule a request of an internet user to an edge cache node closest to the user based on a Domain Name System (DNS) technology (Global Load Balance).

At this time, the GSLB configures a service priority according to a processing capability of each edge cache node, and the GSLB allocates a node IP to the local DNS server according to the service priority of the edge cache node.
To reduce the number of DNS requests, the local DNS server may cache the resolution results obtained from the GSLB. The number of users served by the local DNS server is very different, and the GSLB does not know the number of users served by the local DNS server, so that the GSLB cannot accurately implement load balancing by allocating edge cache nodes according to configured service priorities, and even a situation may occur in which an edge cache node with a small processing capability has a large access amount instead, so that a situation in which a user has a slow access and even a domain name resolution system cannot serve may be caused.

Detailed Description
The technical solutions in the embodiments of the present invention will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present invention, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are only a part of the embodiments of the present invention, and not all of the embodiments. The following description of at least one exemplary embodiment is merely illustrative in nature and is in no way intended to limit the invention, its application, or uses. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present invention.
The inventor considers that in the prior art, the GSLB appliance allocates the access users according to the processing capacity of the edge cache node, and only the local DNS server can be used as the allocation granularity, so that the user access amount of the edge cache node is inconsistent with the allocation proportion expected by the GSLB. Therefore, the inventor proposes a method for performing accurate load balancing according to the processing capacity of the edge cache node based on the DNS technology.
An embodiment of the domain name resolution method of the present invention is first described with reference to fig. 1.
Fig. 1 is a flowchart illustrating a domain name resolution method according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in fig. 1, the domain name resolution system includes a local DNS server and a GSLB device. The domain name resolution method of the embodiment comprises the following steps:
step S102, a user sends a DNS query request to a local DNS server, and the local DNS server receives the DNS query request initiated by the user.
There are typically multiple users in the area served by a local DNS server, so in a common situation, multiple users may initiate DNS query requests to the same local DNS server.
Step S104, the local DNS server obtains the IP addresses and the service priority of a plurality of edge cache nodes corresponding to the local DNS server.
For example, as shown in fig. 2, in the prior art, when a user requests access to a domain name www.test.com, the local DNS server returns an edge cache node IP address 218.30.108.32 with the highest service priority to the user. In step S102, the local DNS server returns four edge cache node IP addresses with the highest priority to the user, which are the first edge cache node IP address 218.30.108.32, the second edge cache node IP address 218.30.108.32:50, the third edge cache node IP address 219.11.101.234:30, and the fourth edge cache node IP address 219.11.101.234:20, respectively. The service priorities of the four edge cache nodes may be, for example, a first edge cache node service priority 70, a second edge cache node service priority 20, a third edge cache node service priority 15, and a fourth edge cache node service priority 15 in sequence.
And step S106, the local DNS server distributes the IP addresses of the edge cache nodes to the user according to the acquired service priority of the edge cache nodes.
The local DNS server may first calculate a ratio of the service priority of each edge cache node to a total of the service priorities of all the edge cache nodes. Then, the local DNS server randomly allocates an IP address of each edge cache node to the user with the ratio of each edge cache node as a probability.
Taking the first edge cache node as an example, the ratio of the service priority of the first edge cache node to the service priorities of all the edge cache nodes is 70/100-70%. The local DNS server then distributes 70% of the DNS query requests for that user to the first edge cache node. The case of other edge cache nodes is handled with reference to a similar method.
In the above embodiment, the local DNS server randomly allocates the IP addresses of the edge cache nodes to the users according to the service priorities of the edge cache nodes, so that a domain name resolution scheme with more balanced load is provided, and balanced allocation of access users to the edge cache nodes is realized according to the service capabilities of the edge cache nodes.
A method for the local DNS server to obtain IP addresses and service priorities of a plurality of edge cache nodes corresponding to the local DNS server is described below with reference to fig. 3.
Fig. 3 is a flowchart illustrating an embodiment of a method for a local DNS server to obtain IP addresses and service priorities of a plurality of edge cache nodes corresponding to the local DNS server according to the present invention. As shown in fig. 3, on the basis of the embodiment shown in fig. 1, step S104 of this embodiment includes:
step S3042, the local DNS server sends a DNS query request to the GSLB device, and the GSLB device receives the DNS query request sent by the local domain name system DNS server. Wherein the DNS query request includes an IP address of the local DNS server.
For example, a local DNS server first sends a DNS query request to an authoritative DNS server. And after receiving the DNS query request, the authorized DNS server returns the host alias record to the local DNS server. The local DNS sends DNS query requests to the GSLB via host alias records.
Step S3044, the GSLB device determines, according to the IP address of the local DNS server, the IP addresses and the service priorities of the plurality of edge cache nodes corresponding to the local DNS server.
The GSLB appliance may first determine a plurality of edge cache nodes belonging to the same domain as the local DNS server. Then, the GSLB device determines service priorities of the plurality of edge cache nodes according to the performance index of each edge cache node.
Step S3046, the GSLB appliance returns the IP addresses and the service priorities of the plurality of edge cache nodes to the local DNS server, and the local DNS server receives the IP addresses and the service priorities of the plurality of edge cache nodes sent by the GSLB appliance.
According to the DNS record protocol in the prior art, the GSLB appliance returns the IP address of the edge cache node to the local DNS server in the form of a host IP record (referred to as an a record for short). In order for the GSLB appliance to return the IP addresses of the plurality of edge cache nodes and the service priority to the local DNS server, a new DNS record protocol type may be added to the existing DNS record protocol. For example, RR (Resource Record) type APRE is added, and a specific value thereof may be allocated by IANA (The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority). The relevant parameter configuration of the APRE record may be as shown in fig. 4, for example. The main difference from the host IP record (referred to as a record for short) in the prior art is that the APRE record takes five bytes. The first four bytes are used for storing the IP address of the edge cache node, and the fifth byte is used for storing the service priority of the edge cache node. The data structure of the APRE may be, for example, as shown in fig. 5.
Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the DNS response packet returned by the GSLB to the local DNS server may include two RR records. If the local DNS server supports the APRE record, GSLB returns the A record and the APRE record to the local DNS server, and the local DNS server uses the APRE record at the rear part of the message and ignores the A record at the front part. If the local DNS server does not support the APRE record, after the GSLB returns the A record and the APRE record to the local DNS server, the local DNS server only uses the A record positioned in the front part of the message and ignores the APRE record in the rear part, thereby enabling different devices to be compatible with the APRE record.
In the embodiment, the access of the edge cache node can be performed according to the number of the access users really served by the local DNS, and the access amount of the internet users can be more accurately distributed according to the processing capacity of the edge node. Therefore, the situation that the access amount of each edge cache node is inconsistent with the processing capacity caused by distributing the edge cache nodes by taking the local DNS as a user by the GSLB is avoided.
Preferably, step S104 may further include:
step S3048, the local DNS server locally stores the received IP addresses and service priorities of the multiple edge cache nodes as DNS resource records with priorities, so that the local DNS server performs corresponding feedback according to the DNS resource records when the user initiates DNS query again.
For example, as shown in fig. 2, a parameter 600 represents that the lifetime of the prioritized DNS resource record is 600 seconds, that is, the prioritized DNS resource record is valid within 600 seconds, and the user initiates a feedback that the local DNS server responds according to the DNS resource record when performing the DNS query again.
In step S3041, the local DNS server locally queries a DNS resource record with priority.
If the local DNS server locally stores the DNS resource record with priority, the local DNS server can directly obtain the IP addresses and service priorities of the plurality of edge cache nodes corresponding to the local DNS server. If the local DNS server does not locally store the DNS resource record with priority, step S3042 to step S3046 are executed to obtain the IP addresses and service priorities of the edge cache nodes corresponding to the local DNS server.
In the above embodiment, the local DNS server may not obtain the IP addresses and service priorities of the plurality of edge cache nodes corresponding to the local DNS server from the GSLB when the DNS resource records with priorities are locally stored, and directly allocate the IP addresses of the edge cache nodes to the user according to the stored DNS resource records with priorities, thereby improving the overall efficiency of domain name resolution.
