Abstract

A halter bib athletic garment is described herein. The halter bib athletic garment may be removed or lowered without removing the jersey by simply pulling the halter through the wearer's head. One or more embodiments of the halter bib allow the wearer to more easily urinate or defecate because the halter bib can be easily lowered or removed. The halter bib athletic garment may include a lower body section, a chamois coupled to the lower body section, and an upper body section. The upper body section includes a strap that forms a portion of a loop of the head opening on the upper body section. Background technique

Sportswear helps people enjoy and compete in many sports. One type of garment worn is a bib garment designed with a hanging support member. A benefit of bib garments is that the garment is supported from the shoulders rather than by a belt that grips the wearer's waist. Sports bib clothes are often used for cycling because they eliminate the discomfort and chafing caused by the waist belt and keep the placement of the padded "suede" under the cyclist's sit bones better than bike shorts. Unfortunately, bicycle bibs can be very difficult to accommodate for cyclists who need to urinate or defecate. Currently, cyclists must remove their jersey and remove the suspension support member of a traditional bicycle bib before they can lower the rest of the bib to defecate. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that bib bibs are meant to be worn without bottom underwear, and the suede can collect bacteria and contaminants if not kept clean. To make matters worse, female cyclists must face this dilemma with fewer options than male cyclists. Male cyclists can purchase bibs with zippered or non-zippered entry openings. Contents of the invention

According to one aspect, an athletic garment includes a lower body section, suede, and an upper body section. The lower body segment includes the front, rear, both leg openings and pelvic segment. The chamois joins the lower body section at the base of the pelvic section. The upper body section is coupled to the lower body section proximate the pelvic section and includes a harness forming at least a portion of a loop of the head opening on the upper body section. The harness includes two front sections and a back section positioned between the two front sections. The rear portion is attached to the sportswear only with the front portion of the harness.

In the following description, for the purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the various aspects of the invention. As noted above, conventional bib garments have various limitations. Cyclists and other athletes, especially women, would benefit from an easier solution to removing a bike bib while wearing a jersey or jacket. As will be shown in various embodiments described or otherwise contemplated as part of this disclosure, the straps may be removed or lowered without removing the jersey by simply pulling the straps over the wearer's head Bib clothes. One or more embodiments of a sling bib allow the wearer to more easily urinate or defecate because the sling bib can be easily lowered or removed. For example, a cyclist wearing a suspender bib can quickly stop cycling and urinate without the hassle and exposure of removing a jersey. The bodice section 45 may be constructed at least in part of a mesh fabric 38 or similar fabric that provides good ventilation, for example, as shown in the mesh bodice sections of FIGS. 1-5 . A sweatshirt or other upper garment is typically worn over some or all of the mesh bodice section 45 (eg, to cover the substantially transparent mesh bodice section). In particular embodiments, one or more additional fabric layers may be added behind all or part of the mesh bodice section to reduce transparency. Other embodiments may use no mesh, or may have mesh included in a different or smaller section of the bodice section. In some embodiments involving sports such as cycling, suede 30 is included at the base of pelvic section 20 where leg sections 18 meet. FIG. 10 shows a non-limiting embodiment of chamois 30 , and FIG. 3 shows the outline of stitching 32 that is sometimes visible on the exterior of lower body section 10 and that couples chamois 30 to the base of pelvic section 20 . Chamois 30 is a soft and spongy layer designed to provide padding when sitting (eg, a bicycle saddle) and to wick away moisture and sweat. The chamois 30 generally conforms to the wearer's crotch and can vary in thickness (eg, about 0.125 to 3.5 inches thick) and shape (eg, different shapes for men, women, type of intended use, or length of intended use). Suede 30 is available from of or similar materials.

In some embodiments, the bib tracksuit 1 is primarily worn for cycling. Utilizing a half-length zipper sweatshirt (or any sweatshirt with a zipper that is shorter than a full length), the wearer unzips the sweatshirt so that the harness 50 passes over the wearer's head 2, optionally attaching the harness 50 to the bodice 45. According to some embodiments, the harness 50 is constructed from a continuous elastomeric fabric. The harness 50 and attached bodice section 45 may be sufficiently elastic to allow the harness 50 to pass easily over the wearer's head 2 . The vertical elasticity of the harness 50 may be caused by the elasticity primarily within the harness 50 , or the elasticity of the harness 50 and bodice section 45 combined. For example, the sling 50 may be a highly elastic fabric along the long axis of the sling 50 which allows the sling 50 to stretch under pressure but recover a shorter length when resting on the wearer's neck 4 and shoulders. The optional mesh bodice section 45 may employ an elastomeric mesh fabric having a high degree of vertical elasticity in at least a portion of the fabric. Additionally, the mesh bodice section 45 can extend above the chest to couple to the strap 50, which can pull on the elastic on the bodice section 45 by allowing the strap 50 to pull on the elastics on the bodice section 45 by substantially transferring the force to the mesh bodice section 45. Another embodiment employs at least two connecting members to completely remove the straps from the bodice section. Additional embodiments employ one or more tightening members at or near the harness to spread the harness and then tighten the harness over the neck and shoulders of the wearer for a comfortable fit. Still further embodiments employ one or more cinch members used in conjunction with the elasticity provided by the elastomeric fabric and other elastomeric features of the sling bibs disclosed herein.

Embodiments of the bib tracksuit 1 may include reflectors made of reflective fabric or other reflective material. The reflector helps make the wearer visible in low light conditions by, for example, reflecting light from vehicle headlights. The reflector may be a stripe, tube, patch, or other shape that is sewn into or otherwise attached to the sling bib. Some embodiments employ reflectors as part of the aesthetic design of the bib tracksuit, even added to the design during the day.
