技术领域
本发明属于液晶显示装置技术领域,更具体地说,涉及一种用于改善余像残留(imagesticking)的方法和一种能够改善余像残留的液晶显示装置。
背景技术
液晶显示装置(LCD)具有体积小、重量轻、显示质量高等优点。液晶显示装置中的液晶面板所显示的画面由许多阵列排列的像素构成,每一个像素通常由分别显示各种颜色的子像素组成,每一个子像素所显示的亮度由液晶显示装置的背光模组的亮度和该液晶面板的子像素的灰阶共同决定。
随着液晶显示装置技术的发展,为了改善液晶显示装置的显示质量,人们提出了液晶面板的交变电压极性的驱动方法。即,电压的极性在连续帧时段之间极性反转,从而可以长时间地正常显示。然而,在使用这种驱动方法时,会出现液晶极化的现象,由此导致余像残留的问题。

参照图1,在传统的液晶显示装置中,可以采用共电极电压恒定且以若干帧(例如,一帧)为周期交变电压的极性的驱动方式。例如,在第N帧FrameN,像素可以被写入正极性,在第N+1帧FrameN+1,像素可以被写入负极性,在第N+2帧FrameN+2,像素可以被写入正极性,在第N+3帧FrameN+3,像素可以具有负极性,等等,并且共电极电压始终保持恒定。这里,N可以为大于1的整数。液晶的翻转取决于伽马电压(即,V0、V1、……、V255)和共电极电压之间的差值。理论上,共电极电压是V0和V255的平均值。但是,由于电容的耦合效应,共电极电压会比V0和V255的平均值小。此外,正负极性的电压实际上不会完全对称,通常正极性的绝对值会略高于负极性的绝对值。如此,经过较长时间之后,在正极性电压偏大的作用下,液晶会相应地发生极化,由此导致余像残留。

如图3所示,控制器TCON可将随着每帧高低变换的控制信号输出到伽马芯片GAMMAIC,伽马芯片GAMMAIC可响应于该控制信号产生共电极电压。伽马芯片GAMMAIC可在第一存储体BANK1中存储第一代码,并且可在第二存储体BANK2中存储第二代码,第一代码对应于具有第一值的共电极电压Vcom1,第二代码对应于具有第二值的共电极电压Vcom2。

如图3所示,根据本发明的示例性实施例的液晶显示装置还可以包括:控制器TCON,当像素被写入正极性时产生第一控制信号,当像素被写入负极性时产生第二控制信号,其中,第一控制信号为低电压的控制信号,第二控制信号为高电压的控制信号;伽马芯片GAMMAIC,响应于第一控制信号产生具有第一值的共电极电压Vcom1,响应于第二控制信号产生具有第二值的共电极电压Vcom2。
伽马芯片GAMMAIC可以包括第一存储体BANK1和第二存储体BANK2。第一存储体BANK1可以存储第一代码,并且第二存储体BANK2可以存储第二代码,第一代码对应于具有第一值的共电极电压Vcom1,第二代码对应于具有第二值的共电极电压Vcom2。
根据本发明的示例性实施例,伽马芯片GAMMAIC还可以包括存储体选择端子BANK_SEL(例如,存储体选择针脚)。当伽马芯片GAMMAIC中的存储体选择端子BANK_SEL接收到第一控制信号时选择第一存储体BANK1,从而产生具有第一值的共电极电压Vcom1;当伽马芯片GAMMAIC中的存储体选择端子BANK_SEL接收到第二控制信号时选择第二存储体BANK2,从而产生具有第二值的共电极电压Vcom2。
可选地,Vcom1可以比Vcom2小0.01V-1V。可选地,Vcom1可以比Vcom2小0.02V-0.5V。优选地,Vcom1可以比Vcom2小0.1V。
更具体地讲,根据本发明的示例性实施例,伽马芯片GAMMAIC可以产生共电极电压,伽马芯片GAMMAIC可以是数字可调的。伽马芯片GAMMAIC可以分别在第一存储体BANK1和第二存储体BANK2中存储两个不同的代码,即,第一存储体BANK1可以存储第一代码,并且第二存储体BANK2可以存储第二代码。两个不同的代码设置两个不同的共电极电压。第一代码可以对应于具有第一值的共电极电压Vcom1,第二代码可以对应于具有第二值的共电极电压Vcom2,其中,Vcom1可以比Vcom2小0.01V-1V,优选地,Vcom1可以比Vcom2小0.1V。当像素具有正极性时,控制器TCON输出第一控制信号给伽马芯片GAMMAIC中的存储体选择端子BANK_SEL,当像素具有负极性时,控制器TCON输出第二控制信号给伽马芯片GAMMAIC中的存储体选择端子BANK_SEL。当存储体选择端子BANK_SEL接收到具有低电压的第一控制信号时选择第一存储体BANK1,从而产生具有第一值的共电极电压Vcom1;当存储体选择端子BANK_SEL接收到具有高电压的第二控制信号时选择第二存储体BANK2,从而产生具有第二值的共电极电压Vcom2,由此使得共电极电压可以随着每帧在Vcom1和Vcom2之间变换。
如图4所示,通过改变共电极电压的值,使得共电极电压随着每帧小幅度地变化。选择出的伽马电压(即数据电压)和共电极电压之间的差值可以实现正负极性相互抵消,从而防止或减少液晶的极化,改善RAS效果并且改善余像残留。
根据本发明的示例性实施例的液晶显示装置,通过改变共电极电压的值,可以使共电极电压随着每帧小幅度地变化,从而可以使驱动电压整体上满足前一帧正极性偏大,接下来的一帧负极性偏大,如此正负极性可以相互抵消,避免了传统的液晶显示装置中的正极性偏大的问题,从而防止或减少液晶的极化,有效地改善余像残留。
此外,根据本发明的上述方法可以被实现为计算机可读记录介质中的计算机代码。本领域技术人员可以根据对上述方法的描述来实现所述计算机代码。当所述计算机代码在计算机中被执行时实现本发明的上述方法。
此外,根据本发明的示例性实施例的液晶面板的驱动装置中的各个单元可被实现为硬件组件。本领域技术人员根据限定的各个单元所执行的处理,可以使用例如现场可编程门阵列(FPGA)或专用集成电路(ASIC)来实现各个单元。
本发明的以上实施例仅仅是示例性的,而本发明并不受限于此。本领域技术人员应该理解:在不脱离本发明的原理和精神的情况下,可对这些实施例进行改变,其中,本发明的范围在权利要求及其等同物中限定。
Claims (10)
1.一种用于改善余像残留的方法,其特征在于,所述方法包括:以极性逐帧反转的方式向像素提供数据电压,其中,当像素被写入正极性时,共电极电压具有第一值,当像素被写入负极性时,共电极电压具有第二值,第一值小于第二值。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,共电极电压通过以下方式被确定:
当像素被写入正极性时,产生第一控制信号,响应于第一控制信号产生具有第一值的共电极电压,其中,第一控制信号为低电压的控制信号;
当像素被写入负极性时,产生第二控制信号,响应于第二控制信号产生具有第二值的共电极电压,其中,第二控制信号为高电压的控制信号。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于,
响应于第一控制信号产生具有第一值的共电极电压的步骤包括:响应于第一控制信号选择第一代码,第一代码对应于具有第一值的共电极电压,从而产生具有第一值的共电极电压;
响应于第二控制信号产生具有第二值的共电极电压的步骤包括:响应于第二控制信号选择第二代码,第二代码对应于具有第二值的共电极电压,从而产生具有第二值的共电极电压。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,第一值比第二值小0.01V-1V。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于,第一值比第二值小0.1V。
6.一种液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述液晶显示装置包括显示面板,显示面板包括数据线、栅极线和像素,所述像素被配置为以极性逐帧反转的方式接收数据电压,其中,当像素被写入正极性时,共电极电压具有第一值,当像素被写入负极性时,共电极电压具有第二值,第一值小于第二值。
7.根据权利要求6所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述液晶显示装置还包括:
控制器,当像素被写入正极性时产生第一控制信号,当像素被写入负极性时产生第二控制信号,其中,第一控制信号为低电压的控制信号,第二控制信号为高电压的控制信号;
伽马芯片,响应于第一控制信号产生具有第一值的共电极电压,响应于第二控制信号产生具有第二值的共电极电压。
8.根据权利要求7所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述伽马芯片包括第一存储体和第二存储体,第一存储体存储第一代码且第二存储体存储第二代码,第一代码对应于具有第一值的共电极电压,第二代码对应于具有第二值的共电极电压。
9.根据权利要求8所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,所述伽马芯片还包括存储体选择端子,其中,当存储体选择端子接收到第一控制信号时选择第一存储体,从而产生具有第一值的共电极电压,当存储体选择端子接收到第二控制信号时选择第二存储体,从而产生具有第二值的共电极电压。
10.根据权利要求1所述的液晶显示装置,其特征在于,第一值比第二值小0.01V-1V。
