Description

一种同时记录和播放数据流的时间移动的方法

1. 发明领域

这个公开的发明涉及图像领域,具体来说,本发明尤其涉及视频 流的记录和重放。视频流包括任意形式的音频和/或视频数据流的组 合。但是,这里公开的视频流可以适合其他类型的数据流。

2. 相关领域的说明

通常视频流已经记录在诸如盒式带的模拟介质上。利用盒式录象 机(VCR)把视频流记录到盒式带上。经过广播信号、经过电缆、经 过卫星信号或从另一个视频重放设备把视频流输入盒式录象机。 一旦 已经记录了视频流,通过该VCR反绕该记录介质,就可以播放记录的 信息。但是,由于模拟介质的特性, 一旦VCR已经开始记录,就不能 重放已经记录的那部分的视频流直到结束这个记录段。

例如,假设一个人设置VCR记录一个小时的节目,因为他知道会 错过前15分钟的节目。当他在节目开始后15分钟到家,他将不得不 等待记录完所有的节目之后,才能够从头开始观看这个节目。人们希 望不必不得不等待结束这个记录段,就能够从头开始观看节目。

发明综述

本发明公开了一种提供时间移动的视频流的方法。在输入端接收 视频流。把该视频流记录到存储单元。继续记录该视频流的同时从存 储单元恢复该视频流并且送到输出端。在一个实施例中,该存储单元 是诸如硬盘的随机存取存储单元。

详细i兌明 设备

图1示出依据本发明的一个实施例的视频记录和重放系统的方框 图。在视频输入102处接收视频流。这个视频流可能是由摄象机、电 视信号、广播、电缆、或卫星信号或另一个视频重放设备提供的。在 一个实施例中,该视频输入102完成A至D的功能,提取输入的模拟 NTSC信号并且解码视频流成数字视频比特流。在另一个实施例中,视 频记录和重放系统100是个人计算机系统,而该视频输入102是插入 该个人计算机系统中的一个视频截取卡(video capture card)。

可选择地由压缩单元104压缩来自视频输入102的视频流。在一 个实施例中,该视频流是已经被压缩的视频流,诸如是MPEG2的视频 信号的情况下,就不需要进一步进行压缩。然后把该视频流存储到存 储单元108中。可以把緩冲器单元106作为存储单元108的暂时存储 单元来使用,以便后续向存储单元108提供更大序列的视频数据块。

在一个实施例中,存储单元108是一个随机存取存储器单元,它 允许相当快地存取所存储的视频流的任意部分。硬盘就是一个典型的 随机存取存储器单元。硬盘通常能够以相当于10ms的存取时间存取 所存储的数据。相反,盒式录象带则机械地缠绕从而到达视频流的某 个特殊点。

通过读取来自存储单元108的视频流,对该视频流进行重放。如 果压缩单元104已经压缩了该视频流,则由去压缩单元110解压缩该 恢复的视频流。该视频流被送到视频输出口 120,显示器和另外的显 示设备连接到该视频输出口 120上,为用户输出声音和图像。

视频记录和重放系统100中还可以包括一个可去除存储单元 122。可去除存储单元可以是可写CD ROM、可写DVD、快闪存储器或 另一个硬盘。该可去除存储单元122允许用户把存储单元108中建立

的视频流传送给可去除存储单元122。

在一个实施例中,处理器130控制视频记录和重放系统100的操 作。可以由硬件的方式实现压缩单元104和去压缩单元110,或者由 处理器130完成单元104和110的压缩和去压缩功能。采用已知的技 术,处理器130接收来自固件/存储器140的指令。

i己录和重放循环

图2示出一种提供时移的视频流的方法的流程图。由块200开始 该流程,进入块202,由输入端接收该视频流。在块204处开始记录 该视频流。在块206处,与继续记录输入的视频流的同时,通过从随 机存取存储单元中恢复视频流的一部分,对所记录的视频流进行重 放。通过时间延时,该视频流中所恢复的部分被相对于输入的视频流 时间移动。

在块208处,视频记录和重放系统100的输出端处提供了从随机 存取存储单元中恢复的视频流的部分。然后由电视机或者其他显示设 备显示该恢复的视频流的部分。

通过使用图2的方法,使记录和重放功能彼此分开。用户可以在 完成记录TV节目之前,现在开始观看该记录的TV节目。

图3显示一种执行图2的块206中所述的继续记录输入视频流的 同时从该随机存取存储单元中恢复一部分视频流的操作的方法。在公 开的实施例中,通过交替执行一次或多次存储视频流到随机存取存储 单元的操作与 一次或多次从这个随机存取存储单元读取该视频流的 操作,或者通过一次或多次存储视频流到随机存取存储单元的操作与 一次或多次从这个随机存取存储单元读取该视频流操作相复用,达到 同时记录和重放视频流的功能。由于该复用的存储和读取是足够快 的,因此用户不会注意到重放视频流中的适当的延时,并且输入的视 频流也没有丢失,即所有的视频流都被记录下来。这样,从用户的角 度来说,记录和重放是同时进行的。

在一个实施例中,这个随机存取存储单元是硬盘。在这个硬盘的 第一物理存储单元(或扇区)处进行从硬盘恢复时间移动的视频流的 搡作,并且在这个硬盘的不同的物理存储单元(或扇区)处进行输入

的视频流存储到这个硬盘的搡作。由于在硬盘的不同扇区之间来回跳 跃所需要的时间多于在相同的扇区中顺序存储单元上读取和写所需

要的时间,因此可以通过使用緩冲器106緩冲数据,使存取到和从硬 盘存取的次数最少。这样就增加了每次存取的数据量。

另外,因为为了保持从硬盘读取和写入硬盘的时间,因此可以压 缩和去压缩数据,从而加快传送到硬盘和从硬盘传送的速度。

在块302中,视频流存储到随机存取存储单元中。在存储到随机 存取存储单元之前,可以选择地压缩或者緩冲视频流。在块304中, 从随机存取存储单元恢复视频流。在把恢复的视频流送到视频输出口 120之前,可以进行緩冲和/或去压缩。

这个流程从块304前进到块306,在块306中,按照与块302所 公开的方式相同的方式,存储视频流的下一部分。在块308中,按照 与块304所公开的方式相同的方式,恢复视频流的下一部分。重复这 个处理过程直至或者结束记录或者结束重放搡作。

图4显示存储视频流到存储单元108的设备的一个实施例。在这 个实施例中,例如,把视频流作为分开的文件001至009存储到硬盘 上。处理器130跟踪文件并且偏置到正在重放的数据的文件中以及跟 踪文件并偏置到正在记录数据的文件中。如果随机存取存储单元的速 度足够快,那么在同一时间能够记录和重放多于一个的视频流。

暂时緩冲(循环緩冲)

由于随机存取存储单元能够简单地进行在它本身记录的特性,因 此随机存取存储单元可以起到一个暂时緩冲器的作用,存储输入视频 流的最新部分、或X分钟视频流,这里根据存储单元的大小来设置X。 在一个实施例中,X可以被设置成整个存储单元。当接收新的部分的 视频流时,这些新的部分的视频流覆盖写入随机存取存储单元中所保 留的较早视频流。按照这样的方式,该视频流的暂时緩冲器起循环緩 冲器的作用。在一个实施例中,处理器130保留这个暂时緩冲器的开 始指针和结束指针。当接收新的视频流部分或者旧的视频流部分被重 写时,该处理器130就重赋值这些指针。

图5显示把存储单元作为暂时緩冲器使用的方法的流程图。从块500开始这个流程,进入到块502,在块502中,在输入端接收视频 流。在块504中,开始存储视频流到存储单元。在块506中,删除旧 的视频流部分,把新的视频流部分存储到这个存储单元中。

用户可以在块506后初始化一个重放循环。例如,当用户如果希 望重看他刚刚看过的一段图像时,就会出现这个操作。在一个实施例 中,用户停止暂时緩冲器的记录操作,而重放该暂时緩冲器中最后的 部分。

但是,用户可能更加希望能够继续块508中所示的记录搡作。开 始记录和重放循环(如结合图2所示),用户重观看暂时緩冲器的最 后部分的同时继续记录输入的视频流。按照这样的方式,当用户重观 看了所希望的视频片段(video clip)之后,他能够从该视频片段那 点继续观看视频流。

在块510,当结束了记录和重放循环之后,所有的或者部分的暂 时緩冲器可以被保留。由于在记录和重放循环之前暂时緩冲器存储了 视频流的最新X分钟,因此所有或部分的暂时緩冲器可以被分配给在 这个记录和重放期间所保留的视频流的部分。然后可以从存储单元删 除其他部分的视频流、或者可以把该其他部分的视频流标记成可重写 的部分并且作为新的暂时緩冲器来使用。

重放操作赶上输入的视频流

图6显示用于重放视频流的方法的流程图,这种方法允许重放抓 住输入的视频流。通常,在同时重放和记录相同的视频流期间,该视 频流的重放相对输入的视频流存在着一段时间延时。但是,如果按照 比接收输入视频流的速度更快的整体速度进行这种重放操作,则这种 重放操作就能够赶上输入的视频流。

例如,如果这种重放是快进,或者如果这种重放的扇区被完全跳 跃,则视频流的重放就具有比输入视频流的速度更快的整体速度。当

记事板制作(Story Boarding);快速前进和倒带 采用随机存取存储单元存储视频流,实现在该视频流之内跳跃到 各个点的搡作。 一种跳跃的方式是恢复该视频流的不同时间时隙。例 如,距该视频流的当前位置1分钟的时间间隔,从存储单元恢复来自 该视频流的一个图像帧。在一个实施例中,距当前重放位置+ l分钟、 当前重放位置+2分钟、等等处恢复一个图像帧,并且显示在TV屏幕 上。

图8示出显示屏幕800的一个例子,该显示屏幕800显示不同时 间从该视频流取出的几个图像帧。在图8中,当前重放位置用X表示。 在一个实施例中,该时间间隔,T,是用户可编排的。如图所示,这 个间隔可以是时间间隔的倍数。如果用户希望跳过一段广告,就可以 使用一个短的时段,因为广告通常仅持续几分钟。当确定把哪个电影 记录到存储单元的时候,诸如半个小时的长的时段就很有帮助。

在一个实施例中,视频记录和重放系统100能够察觉一个黑屏幕 或渐隐图像,诸如伴随广告的开始或结束的屏幕。这对于编辑视频流 来说是很有用。

编辑

由于使用诸如硬盘的随机存取存储单元存储视频流,因此便于编 辑该视频流。可以删除或者代替视频流的独立的帧。例如,可以用逐 渐变黑的序歹'J (fade to black sequence)代替一个广告。

一旦已经编辑了存储单元上的视频流,通过可去除存储单元 122,就能够把它存储到诸如可写的CD-R0M的更加永久的介质、快闪 存储器或另外的硬盘。

总结

这样,公开了一种同时记录和重放时间移动的视频流的方法。这 里所公开的特殊的装置和方法仅仅显示了本发明的原理。例如,也可 以用同样的方法存储和恢复视频流以外的其他类型的数据流。在不脱 离本发明的实质的情况下,可以实现各种各样形式和细节的更改。虽 然结合特殊的实施例已经显示了本发明,但是应当知道本发明并不局 限于此。另外,所公开的发明仅由附加的权利要求书的范围所限定。

Claims (5)

1.一种显示视频流的方法,该方法包括以下步骤: (a)接收视频流; (b)把步骤(a)接收到的该视频流存储到存储单元中;以及 (c)对至少初始地延时一个时间延时的视频流进行显示,其中当该延时时间大于预定的限度时显示来自该存储单元的视频流,而当该延时时间小于预定的限度时显示步骤(a)接收到的视频流。
2. 权利要求1的方法,其中把该视频流存储到存储单元的步骤 (b)包括进行一次或多次存储到存储单元的操作,并且当该延时时间大于预定的限度时从该存储单元恢复视频流的步骤(c)包括进行 一次或多次从该存储单元读取的操作,并且该一次或多次存储到存储 单元的操作与该一次或多次从该存储单元读取的操作被交替执行。
