1.a fig. 8 est une vue de bout d'un niéca- nisine cotipe-fil dans sa position active; Les fig. Sl et 10 sont des détails;
L'ott pourrait aussi établir titi dispositif, non représenté, pour mettre en pl:ieelarondelled'at- tache et la rondelle reiforçante; et titi autre dispositif pour l'introduction automatique d'un #illet sur une goupille glissante 4 affolée dans un trou central pratiqué (laits l@empoi-te-pièce \?;

Machine for attaching to various receptacles, envelopes etc. so-called button and string closures. This invention relates to a machine for attaching to various receptacles, envelopes, commercial envelopes, boxes, packages, parcels, cartons, bands etc. so-called button and string closures.
The accompanying drawings show an embodiment of the subject of the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a diagram of part of the machine; <B> fi (,. </B> 2 is a side view of the part of the maehim- shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a wound view of part of the machine; Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section taken along line 4-4 of Fig. 2; Figs. 5, G and ï are (details:
1.a fig. 8 is an end view of a cotipe-wire niecanisin in its active position; Figs. Sl and 10 are details;
Figs. <B> II., </B> 12 and 13 show a casing provided with said string closure device according to the invention. In fig. 1, the diagram shows a pair of dies 1 and '' cooperating in seems and adapted to be actuated from a main shaft 3, by any suitable mov en or mechanism which will cause them to meet once for each rotation of the l main shaft.
The ott could also establish a titi device, not shown, to put in pl: ieelarondelled'at- tache and the reiforçante washer; and titi another device for the automatic introduction of a #illet on a panicked sliding pin 4 in a central hole made (milks l @ pois-te-coin \ ?;
said pin being held, when it is free, in its projecting position, by means of the res out 5.
To attach the string to the tab of the envelope. the string is wound around the pin 4 before the eyelet ends come into contact to lay the # eyelet. This is done when the reinforcing washer is placed on the pi holder @@ e 1, fig. 4, and Fa:
eyelet and the attachment washer are placed on the pin 4 mounted in the cookie cutter ?, before the cookie cutters meet. If then the tab of the envelope is introduced between the cookie cutters and these come into contact, the string previously wound around the pin will be pinched between the tab and the reinforcing washer and held firmly in place between the eyelet heads. In the embodiment of the invention described,
this is achieved by means of a hollow toothed wheel 6 mounted in a suitable housing and rotating concentrically around the pin 4, and being of sufficient size to embrace the punch 2. Said wheel 6 is actuated on the main shaft 3 by means of a gear system comprising the toothed wheels 7, 8 and 9, and preferably rotates at a greater angular speed than the main shaft.
In the present embodiment of the invention, said wheel 6, which will be designated hereinafter with the parts relating thereto, under the general term of "looper device or simply ,, looper", makes four turns for a rotation of the main shaft.
The looper comprises a twine catching device represented as a titi element in the form of ", 10, held in its normal position against the surface of the toothed wheel 6 by a spring, but which can be projected from this surface to the mo required in the operation of the machine, when it is a question of grasping a piece of string which is presented to it by a device which will be described later. This element 10 penetrates through the toothed wheel and is fixed. to a ring 11 having a cam-shaped surface 12.
The construction of the looper is shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 7, respectively, in end view, front view and in cross section. In its normal position, the ring 11 is held away from the wheel V by springs 13 and its movement is limited by the element 10. It will therefore be seen that when a piece of string has been introduced under the item 10, it will be; held firmly between this element and the surface of the toothed wheel, as long as the cam 12 of the ring 11 does not act on it.
The invention comprises titi device for moving the element 10 away and closer to 1; i, toothed wheel 6 so that the element 1o is threaded, this control device c (Anpïirtaiit a cam 14 mounted on titi lever 15 and controlled by a carne 16 mounted on the main shaft.
Depending on the mode of operation of this special mechanism, it is desirable that the looper be projected forward to grip the thread once in its four rotations, that is to say at the point where the pin 4 makes protrusion and after the washers, # grommet and tab of the casing have been placed. It will be seen that when the cam 14 is brought into the position shown in. fig. 4, the looper rotating counterclockwise will be thrown forward by cam 14 to engage the twine.
As the looper continues to turn, the most protruding point on the surface and) the cam shape 1 _ pax # will thus be the hook 14, and the element ltï has the piece of string that has been presented to it and will wrap it around. of pin 4, where the twine will remain until it is either released or removed from the looper.
A device can be established which presents the twine to the looper so that it is gripped between the element 10 and the edge of the toothed wheel 6. This device is shown herein as a twine carrying element with movement of, back and forth, 17, and the parties ,; related to it.
This twine holder device comprises a finger 18 provided on one side with a ceding plate 19 to hold the twine when it has been passed through the twine holder and keep it taut during the operations which follow. follow.
This twine carrier device 17 is mounted in a guide 20, its movement. reciprocation being communicated to it by a crank arm 21 and a connecting rod 22, the crank arm being mounted on a shaft 23, which, in the present embodiment of the invention, is actuated in @ -ncüronism with the main shaft ï by l @ ii)
third of a system of cogwheels 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28. The oit may establish a device for cutting the twine, which is represented herein by scissors 29 having a fixed blade <B> 30 </B> and a movable blade 31 and mounted on titi oscillating element 32 pivoted in 3: 3 on the guide 20.
The two wools of the scissors are pivoted cci 31 and are held in their active position relative to the other by any appropriate means ;, titi button and spring 35, for example. The scissors can be brought by suitable medium roofs into the desired position for cutting the wire.
To this end, there is shown a carne 36 mounted on the oscillating element 32 and which is adapted to be secured by (roller bed 37 mounted on the twine holder 17, thus making the scissors oscillate and bringing them into their position. active position for cutting the twine. The scissor mount is shown in its normal position as shown in Fig. 2 and is held in a yielding manner, in this position by a spring 38 fixed to the mount and to the arm 39, which, â in turn, is rigidly fixed to the guide 20.
Means can be established to actuate the scissors so that they cut the twine when they have entered through a united opening 40 in the guide 20, a roller 41, for example, mounted on the rear extension of the mobile wool 31.
This roller 41 is adapted to enter into engagement with a pair of cams 42 and 43 which close or open the scissors, respectively, see fig. 9 and 11, which are detailed plans of the scissors and their operating mechanism. The deed will note that when the scissor mount is oscillated on the pivot 33, the buckets will be thrown forward until the roller 11 meets the hull 42.
As the scissors continue to advance, cam 42 will act to bring the cutting edges of the scissors closer together as the string is introduced therein, thus cutting it just above the string holder. During the upward movement of the twine holder by the system of my level and (the connecting rod actuated by the shaft 23; the roller 37 will be released from the cam 36, thus allowing the scissor mount to return to its normal position under the spring action 38.
The retrograde movement of the scissors will bring the roller 41 into contact with the hull 43, thus opening the scissors ready for the next forward movement which will precede the cutting of the next string.
El operating the mechanism described, the reinforcing washer is placed on the pi @ ce 1. and eyelet and the fastening washer follows the pin 4-. The operation of the main shaft 3 is controlled by an appropriate clutch system and when the casing tab is inserted in the position.
which it must occupy between the punchers, the clutch can be engaged, the shaft 3 then rotating to operate the twine holder and bring the punchers into contact. (This operation takes place as follows, assuming that the starting parts are in the positions shown in fig. 1, 2 and 4.
The piece of string 44 will be presented by the string holder 19 to the string holder 10 which is held in the position shown in FIG. 4 by the cam 14 controlled by the cam 16 on the main shaft. The latter, by turning, will turn the buckle-, and the most protruding point of the cam-shaped surface 12 will pass the cam 14, causing the element 10 ZIi to press against the toothed wheel 6, the wire thus being firmly held in place.
The cam 14 will then be withdrawn from its active position shown in FIG. 4, by lever 15, under the tension of spring 45, and will no longer affect the operation of the looper until it is lifted again by cam 16; at the end of another full turn of the main shaft.
