The present invention relates to a gway roller brake according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Friction brakes acting on the wheel circumference are known since there are vehicles with wheels whose running is to be braked. In general, the combination of materials is chosen so that the rim is made of an abrasion-resistant material and a brake shoe is subject to a certain abrasion, which is caused by the friction between the rim and brake shoe. After a certain period of use, the wear on the brake shoe is large and you replace the part of the brake shoe, which comes directly into contact with the rim and is exposed to abrasion. This arrangement is known in conventional braking systems of the web.
After introducing wheels with elastic wheel rims, such as those found in air-filled tires, a brake with direct contact with the elastic rim provides certain problems. Nevertheless, such brakes found e.g. for bicycles especially for front brakes application and have also proven to be quite. The problem with these brakes is that the device becomes very hot due to direct friction during long-lasting braking. Another disadvantage of this device is that external influences, e.g. Wet or even oil-smeared roadway greatly affect the braking effect. The rim receives at its periphery the liquid from the bottom, which then acts as a lubricant for the braking device
The advantages of direct brakes on the rim are, on the other hand, that the actuator, e.g. the brake linkage can be relatively easily constructed. All that this brake needs is a device that allows the braking device on the circumference of the rim to be moved with force towards the center of the wheel. In this case, this device must be fixed by a strong holder with which the forces on the circumference of the wheel during braking by direct friction between the running wheel and the braking device can be collected.
A major disadvantage of such acting directly on the wheel circumference friction brakes is that at low peripheral speed of the wheel suddenly a blockage of the brake can take place. Such blockages are generated by the transition from the state of sliding friction to the state of sticking friction. The coefficients of friction during sliding and at rest, referred to in the literature as lint and coefficient of adhesion, are different. The floating value is always smaller than the adhesion value; i.e. The force to be applied to move a body on an inclined surface from a standstill is greater than the force necessary to keep the same body in motion as it slides. This effect is observed independently of the material pairing.
In the case of a friction brake acting on the wheel periphery, this results in the transition from the state of sliding friction to the state of sticking friction being experienced as a blockage. After steady deceleration, the wheel or vehicle suddenly stops. Extreme are such effects when the wheel is not round. The friction brake then hangs suddenly at the highest point and blocks unexpectedly. No subtle braking by hand also helps against this effect.
In the railroad you can feel the jolt, but it is reasonably bearable, because the material pairing of cast iron for the brake shoes and steel for the wheel rim close together lying and adhesion values and the concentricity of steel wheels is very good. If you now take the bike pairing rubber and has yet a fully elastic tire on the wheel and a solid rubber block on the peripheral brake, so the transition from gliding to adhesion value can be so large that a fall is the result. The risk increases the smaller the diameter of the braked wheel with a circumferential brake.
Even with the advanced car brakes, it can be seen that the coefficient of adhesion of the brake shoes / brake disc pairing is higher than the coefficient of friction between the tires and the asphalt. However, the vehicle is only steerable if between the tire and the road the adhesive friction occurs. This is why it makes sense in cars with the sophisticated anti-lock system ABS, which electronically corrects this undesirable effect. Thus, by intermittent braking, it is possible again and again to benefit from the transition coefficient of the adhesion value to the sliding value at the circumference of the wheels, and the vehicle remains controllable.
The present invention now has the task of improving the wheel periphery acting friction brake of the type mentioned in such a way that the advantages of the direct wheel brake can be maintained, the above-described disadvantages are mitigated and a fine, smooth delay can be achieved as a Anti-lock system works.
This object is achieved by a continuous roll brake having the features of claim 1. Further features according to the invention are evident from the dependent claims and their advantages are explained in the following description.
1 shows the illustration of a continuous roll brake FIG. 2 shows a continuous roll brake in engagement FIG. 3 Walkroll brake with direct force lever FIG. 4 Walk roll brake with one-armed lever FIG. 5 Walker roll brake with two-armed lever
The figures represent preferred embodiments, which are explained with the following description.
In principle, in the inventive roller-type roll brake 1, the brake pad which is provided in a friction brake which traditionally acts on the wheel circumference is replaced by a rotatably mounted roller 4. The braking is no longer due to friction on the circumference of the tire 6 but due to Walkung on the circumference of the tire. 6
A Walkrollbremse 1 consists as shown in Fig. 1 and 2 of a wheel 5 with a tire 6 and a Walkrolle 4. The Walkrolle 4 is rotatably mounted on an axle 10. The wheel 5 is rotatably mounted on an axle 11. The two axes 10 and 11 are arranged in parallel and the axis 10 of the Walkrolle 4 can be moved radially against the axis 11 of the wheel 5. In the unbraked condition, a distance x between e.g. 0 mm to 2 mm. Tire 6 and Walkroll 4 are contactless. In the case of tires 6 which do not run around, at most the rotatably mounted traveling roller 4 touches the highest point when passing. However, this will be avoided if possible.
If the axis 10 of the Walkrolle 4 moves radially against the axis 11 of the wheel 5, the distance x reduces between the Walker 4 and tire 6. Now, however, the invention provides that the axes 10 and 11 can approach even more. This can only be achieved by deforming the tire 6. Fig. 2 shows how the tire 6 is deformed, causing a flexing deformation e.g. arises with a depth y. The depth y from the outer diameter of the tire 6 - in the unaffected by the Walk roller 4, so measured original condition up to the maximum penetration of the Walkrolle 4 during the braking process vary. Depending on the need for braking deceleration, the flexural deformation depth y is set.
If little braking resistance is required, it will be small, with heavy braking, the Walkrolle role 4 must continue to penetrate into the tire 6 in order to achieve a large braking effect. The adjustment range of the axial distance a between the two axles 10 and 11 is adapted to the materials of the tire 6 and the roller 4 and is adapted to the rigidity and width of the tire. If the tire 6 is an air-filled balloon tire, the penetration depth will be greater than with hard solid rubber tires. The adjustment range of the axial distance a, and thus the path over which the force P must be applied, is therefore selected on a case-by-case basis so that an optimal deceleration of the object to be braked is achieved, and the two axes 10 and 11 remain over the entire adjustment range always absolutely parallel to each other.
The storage of the Walkrolle 4 and the material pairing Walkrolle 4 and 10 axis are crucial for the functioning of the Walkrollbremse. For wirschaftlich cheap versions you will be the Walkrolle 4 on the axis 11 provided with a sliding bearing. For higher demands, one will choose a rolling bearing which is sufficient for the high forces generated by the action of the force P and has little internal friction.
The braking effect is produced only by the flexing deformation y of the tire 6. The literature on tires and generally on pneumatic tires describes in detail what work causes such a flexing. The energy of this work creates heat. One notes this phenomenon when driving with a car tire, the filling was done with too little air pressure. The resulting heat often leads to the involuntary destruction of the tire. A flat foot is the result and the tire can no longer be used. In the embodiment according to the invention, the resulting heat can be released via the tire 6 to the ground. Condition is that not too much heat is generated. It follows that the brake is suitable primarily for slow-moving vehicles with low speeds at the wheel circumference.
In this context, however, one finds with the inventive Walk roller brake 1 a way slow, fine and subtle brakes can. Surfaces that rub each other are only between the axis 10 and the Walkrolle 4. This friction is reduced even if a roller bearing is used instead of a plain bearing. Experiments with plain bearings have shown that the braking effect is gentle and even at low peripheral speeds of the tire 6 to standstill of the wheel 5 no noticeable, jerky blocking of the wheel 5 takes place. The Walkrollbremse 1 acts as a brake with anti-lock braking system. This effect is especially for two-wheeled vehicles whose front wheel is to be braked, of great advantage.
The Walkrolle role 4 must be pressed with a certain force P on the tire 6 in order to achieve the effect described above. This force P is brought to the Walkrollrolle 4 via a device. It can traditionally - as is still often used today, as is often the case with wheel brakes acting on the tire circumference - with a guided linkage via the lever 3 and the axle 10, acting directly on the roller 4, the lever 3 being held close to the roller 4 by a guide 8 becomes.
This lever 3 can also be rotatably supported and held as shown in Fig. 4 on a holding device 9 in point b. The force P then acts from the side on the lever 3 '. The force P can attack at any point between pivot point b and axis 10 depending on design wishes. Such a design offers advantages when the traveling roll 4 is e.g. the peripheral speed v of the wheel 5 adapted to be pressed with different force on the tire 6. At low speed, the flexing work to be applied requires less force Q than the high circumferential speed of the wheel 5. For the principle of the one arm lever 3 'in this exemplary arrangement, the formula is: Q <= P (Q is less than or equal to P). The force Q can therefore be the same as the force P in the maximum.
Another possibility of the arrangement is shown in FIG. 5. The static properties of the two-armed lever are used. In a fastening 20, the lever 3 '' is rotatably mounted. At one end of the lever 3 '' is a power lever 7 rotatably connected to the lever 3 '' in point b. At the other end of the lever 3 '', the axle 10 is fixed. On the axis 10, the Walkrolle 4, rotatably mounted. It is structurally determined in this arrangement which force P 'has to be expended in order to be able to press the roller 4 into the tire 6 with a force Q'. The formula force P 'x proportion n = force Q' x proportion m applies.
According to the invention, the force P can be introduced directly (FIG. 3) or via a one-armed lever 3 '(FIG. 4) or via a two-armed lever 3 "(FIG. 5). In any case, the force P is brought to the levers 3, 3 'and 3 "via a lever system not shown in the drawings. Such systems with rods or Bowden cables are well known and therefore need not be described here.
