BESCHREIBUNG

7' an.
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a device according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Devices are already known in which a film film is drawn off from two supply rolls and fed to a heat treatment station between two elastic rollers. Before the two film foils are joined, printed circuit boards are placed between them, so that after the elastic rollers, both main sides of the printed circuit boards are covered with one of the foils. At the exit of the heat treatment station, the combined film foils with the printed circuit boards in between are gripped by a pulling device which gradually pulls the film foils off the supply rolls, feeds them to the elastic rollers and moves them through the heat treatment station.
Considerable tensile forces are exerted on the film and the film is pretensioned on the circuit boards. This often causes wrinkles and air bubbles occur between the surface of the circuit boards and the film foils. Both the wrinkles and the air bubbles can no longer be removed afterwards, which means that the printed circuit boards that are used in this way can no longer be used.
It is an object of the invention to provide a device which allows film films to be applied to flat plates without folds and without distortion.
The device according to the invention is characterized by the features stated in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
The subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, for example. Show it:
Fig. Fine system for applying film on printed circuit boards with an embodiment of the inventive device in a schematic representation, and
Fig. 2 is a schematic representation of an embodiment of the inventive device for applying a film on circuit boards.
The system according to FIG. 1 comprises a device for applying two film foils 1 to flat printed circuit boards 2. In this device, the first film foil is drawn off from a first supply roller 6 by drive rollers 3, 4 and 5 and fed to a press roller 7, with one previously Protective film 8 was removed from the film sheet 1. After the deflection by a deflection roller 9, the protective film 8 is wound onto a take-up roller 10. The film film 1, with the sticky side facing outwards, is fed to the press roller 7. ¯¯
Below the equipment described above, practically identical equipment is arranged in mirror image. Parts that correspond to one another are identified by the same reference symbols, but which are still provided with a ¯.
The lower equipment 1 'to 10' is mounted in a fixed position and the upper equipment 1 to 10 is arranged in a frame 11, indicated by a rectangle, which is used to adjust the distance between the two press rollers 7 and 7 'to the thickness of the printed circuit board 2 hydraulic or pneumatic drive cylinder 12 is adjustable. To adjust the frame 11, a spindle driven by an electric motor or a stepper motor could also be used instead of the drive cylinder 12. The mode of operation of the device according to the invention comprising the two equipments 1 to 10 and 1 'to 10' is described in more detail below with reference to FIG. 2.
The printed circuit boards, of which only the printed circuit board 2 is shown in FIG. 1, are fed via a first endless conveyor belt 13, a second endless conveyor belt 14 and the gap between the two press rolls 7 and 7 '. Thereafter, the circuit boards already provided with the film foils on both sides are fed to a heat treatment station 16 by means of a third endless conveyor belt 15. The circuit boards pass through an entrance gate 17 onto an endless conveyor belt 18 inside the heat treatment station 16 and through an exit gate 19 onto a fourth endless conveyor belt 20. In the heat treatment station 16 heating elements 21 are arranged and the interior 22 is connected to a vacuum pump 23, so that the heat treatment of the circuit boards takes place in an evacuated environment.
The system shown in FIG. 1 has a thickness measuring device 24 which comprises a feeler roller 26 which is rotatably mounted on a swivel arm 25 and is located above the second conveyor belt 14. When the circuit board 2 reaches the second conveyor belt 14, the feeler roller 26 is raised and the swivel arm 25 is pivoted by an angle which is dependent on the thickness of the circuit board 2. The thickness measuring device 24 then sends a signal, which is dependent on the thickness of the printed circuit board 2, to a control valve 27 which supplies the double-acting drive cylinder 12 with a corresponding amount of pressure oil, so that the frame 11 is adjusted up or down depending on the thickness of the printed circuit board 2.
In this way, the force with which the press rollers 7 and 7 'press the film onto the printed circuit board 2 is kept constant, regardless of the thickness thereof, at an adjustable value.
An optical sensor 28 is arranged between the first and the second conveyor belt 13, 14 and outputs an output signal to an AND gate 29 as long as the circuit board 2 is above the sensor 28. The drive shaft 30 of the first conveyor belt 13 is connected to a pulse generator 31, the pulse frequency being dependent on the speed of the drive shaft 30. The pulse generator supplies the pulses to the AND gate 29.
The AND gate 29 allows pulses to a first input of a computer 32 as long as the circuit board 2 is above the sensor 28. The number of transmitted pulses is thus a measure of the dimension of the printed circuit board 2 in the direction of movement thereof. ¯¯¯¯
A length measuring device similar to that described above is used for each press roller 7 or 7 'for measuring the length of the sections of the film sheet 1. Each of these devices comprises an optical sensor 33 which emits a signal to an AND gate 34 as long as a section of the film 1 is in front of it. A pulse generator 36, which is operatively connected to the drive shaft 35 of the press roller 7, supplies the pulses dependent on the speed of the drive shaft 35 or the press roller 7 to the AND gate 34.
This allows a number of pulses depending on the length of the sections of the film 1 to be passed to a second input of the computer 32.
The film film 1 is divided into the named sections by a separating device 37. The separating device 37 is controlled by the computer 32 via a line, not shown. The separating device 37 preferably comprises a resistance wire (not shown), which extends parallel to the axis of rotation of the press roller 7 and which is heated by electric current shortly before the separation process and is moved in a radial direction onto the lateral surface of the press roller 7 at the time determined by the computer 32. In this way, a section is separated from the film film 1 cleanly and without burr formation. The power supply to the resistance wire is controlled by the output A1 and the radial movement thereof by the output A2 of the computer 32.
The entrance and exit gates 17 are each actuated by a hydraulic or pneumatic drive cylinder 38 or 39. The latter are controlled by a control valve 40 as a function of the signals at the outputs A3 and A4 of the computer 32. The press plates 21 inside the treatment station 16 are controlled by the signal at the output AS of the computer 32.
With the aid of a keyboard 41, commands from outside can be entered into the computer 32. The most important commands are: apply the film only on the top of the circuit board, apply the film only on the underside of the circuit board, apply film on both sides of the circuit board, width of the film area free of the film at the beginning and on the top of the circuit board, on End and on the top of the circuit board, at the beginning and on the bottom of the circuit board as well as at the end and on the bottom of the circuit board.
A further sensor 42 is arranged after the second conveyor belt 14 and in front of the gap between the press rolls 7 and 7 ', which emits a reference signal to the computer 32 as soon as a printed circuit board appears above the sensor 42. Depending on this reference signal and the length measurement signals generated by the AND gates 29, 34 and 34 ', the chronological sequence of the signals occurring at the outputs A1 to AS of the computer 32 is controlled.
The operation of the device for applying the film onto the printed circuit board 2 is described below with reference to FIG. 2. By means of the drive roller 3 driven by an electric motor 43, the film sheet 1 is gradually removed from the supply roll 6. The two subsequent drive rollers 4 and 5 are also driven at the same speed as the drive roller 3, so that the film 1 reaches the roller 7 without tensile stress. The press roller 7 is driven by an electric motor 44 at such a speed that the peripheral speed of the press roller 7 is equal to the speed of travel of the film sheet 1.
The roller 7 is hollow and has a jacket 46 provided with a plurality of openings 45. The jacket 46 is supported by two end walls 47 which are placed on the drive shaft 35, which drive shaft 35 is rotatably connected to the electric motor 44. The interior of the press roll 7 is connected to a vacuum pump 49 via a central connection (not shown) and a pipeline 48. The vacuum pump 49 generates a negative pressure in the interior of the press roller 7 with respect to the atmosphere surrounding it, so that the film film, for example, which is in the form of a sieve-like casing 46, is pressed more or less gently against the casing surface, the part of the film film lying on the casing surface not being subjected to any tensile stress is.
In the interior of the press roll 7 there is a fixed or adjustable doctor blade 50 which bears lightly on part of the inside of the jacket 46 and serves to close off part of the openings 45 in the jacket 46. The front edge of the doctor blade 50 is located approximately at the point at which the two press rollers 7 and 7 'are closest and extends in the direction of rotation of the press roller 7 indicated by an arrow 51. The doctor blade 50 prevents air from passing through the her covered openings 45 is sucked. This means that the film section 52 pressed onto the printed circuit board 2 is no longer lifted off the press roller 7 or 7 '.
A cover 53 is arranged on the outside of the jacket 46, which overlaps the doctor blade 50 a little and extends into the area in which the film foil 1 is taken over by the press roller 7 or 7 'from the drive roller 5 or 5' . The cover 53 prevents air from being sucked into the jacket 46 through the openings 45 covered by it, as a result of which the negative pressure within the press roll 7 or 7 ′ would decrease.
As already mentioned above, the circuit board 2, the dimension of which has been determined in the direction of movement, is rolled by the endless conveyor belt 14 between the two press rolls 7 and? ' fed and taken over by the following conveyor belt 15 after passing through said gap. The top of the two conveyor belts 14 and 15 lie essentially in a plane which is a tangential plane of the lower press roller 7 '. Theoretically, the upper side of the conveyor belt 15 can be located below the upper side of the conveyor belt 14 by the thickness of the film section 52 ′, based on FIG. 2. If there is no circuit board in front of the gap, no film section 52 or 52 'lies on the lower left or upper left quarter of the press roller 7 or. 7 'on.
The drive rollers 3, 4 and 5 for conveying the film 1 stand still, so that the end region of the film 1 lying against the outside of the press roll 7 or 7 ′, which is separated by the separating device 37, remains and on the outside it is constantly moving at the same speed rotating press roller 7 or 7 'slips. The reference sensor 42 is used to determine the time at which the printed circuit board 2 appears in front of the gap mentioned.
Because the conveyor belts 14 and 15 move the circuit board 2 at a constant speed, which speed is equal to the circumferential speed of the press rolls 7 and 7 ', the computer 32 can calculate exactly the time at which the electric motor driving the drive rollers 3, 4 and 5 43 must be switched on so that the front end of the film 1 is applied to the same distance behind the front edge of the circuit board 2.
The computer 32 also calculates the point in time at which the separating device 37 or 37 'is activated and the electric motor 43 or 43' has to be switched off so that the rear end of the film section 52 separated from the film device 1 by the separating device 37 or 37 'in the desired manner Distance from the rear edge of the circuit board 2 comes to lie. When the next circuit board arrives in front of the gap mentioned, the process described above is repeated.
Instead of the two press rolls 7 and 7 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, only the upper or lower press roll, as drawn, and the lower or upper press roll can be a normal press roll, i. H. a roller without openings, cover and doctor blade if a film is to be applied to only one side of the circuit board.
If there is a buffer device (not shown) between the drive rollers 4 and 5 or 3 ', 4' and 5 'and the press roller 7 or 7' which stops the feeding of the film 1 to the press roller 7 or 7 'and the part conveyed during the stop the film film stores until the next printed circuit board appears, the drive rollers 3, 4 and 5 or 3 ', 4' and 5 'can be driven continuously by the electric motor 43 or 43', thereby continuously unrolling the film film 1 from the supply roll 6 is guaranteed.
With the device described above, film foils can be applied to the circuit board without any tension.
After the film has been applied, it lies completely free of wrinkles and distortion on the circuit board and there are no air pockets between the film and the circuit board.
