PATENTANSPRÜCHE

PATENT CLAIMS
1. TV system for the monitoring and assessment or management of field games, in particular football games, with a pivotable TV camera (2) for recording a selectable field area and at least one monitor (4) for displaying the image recorded by the camera (2) by means of a second pivotable television camera (6) for recording areas of a reference field (5) having a line grid, the reference field (5) and the arrangement of the second camera (6) being geometrically similar to the playing field (1) or
for arranging the first-mentioned camera (2) with respect to the playing field (1), devices (10, 11, 12) for pivoting the second camera (6) in synchronism with the pivoting movements of the first-mentioned camera (2) and devices (3, 9, 7 , 8) for superimposing the images (13 and 14) recorded by the two cameras (2 and 6) into a combined image (16).
2. TV system according to claim 1, with a recording device (8) for recording the signals from the first-mentioned camera (2), characterized in that the monitor (4) or one of the monitors is also arranged for reproducing the recorded image.
3. Television system according to claim 2, characterized in that the signals representing the combined image are fed to the recording device (8, 15).
4. TV system according to one of claims 1 to 3, in which the two cameras (2 and 6) have devices for changing their focal lengths, characterized in that these devices are coupled to each other for synchronization.
5. TV system according to one of the claims 1 to 4, characterized by additional television cameras for recording the areas of the goal lines and / or the outlines of the playing field (1), with associated monitor and recording devices.
Football games are often recorded with television cameras and recorded at the same time. With the help of the recording, important phases of the game can be repeated, if necessary also in slow motion or as still images. This subsequent reproduction also allows an accurate assessment of individual game situations. Certain facts, such as the mutual positions of different players on the field, cannot be determined exactly on the ordinary television picture due to the perspective.
Therefore, the referee must always be present on the field himself and judge all situations immediately and without the help of television recordings.
The aim of the invention is now to provide a television system, with the help of which the positions of the players involved in the course of the game on the field can be determined absolutely and in their mutual relationships at any time, so that the game is monitored overall using a television monitor , can be assessed and managed.
An exemplary embodiment of the television system according to the invention is explained below with the aid of the drawing. The drawing shows:
1 is a schematic overall view of the system constructed in a soccer field,
Fig. 2 shows a monitor and a recording device of the system in the playback of the image currently taken by a television camera and
Fig. 3 shows the monitor and the recording device when playing back a recording.
According to FIG. 1, a television camera 2 is arranged at a point from which a football field 1 with length A and width B can be completely surveyed. The camera .2, which can be pivoted about a horizontal and a vertical axis (angle a or ss), is directed in the drawing at a point N of the playing field at a distance L. The camera signals are fed via a line 3 to a television monitor 4 and via a line 9 to a recording device 8.
A second television camera 6, which can also be pivoted (angles a 'and P'), is arranged at a reference field 5, which on a smaller scale, e.g. 1: 100, corresponds to field 1 in its outer contours and is covered with a line grid in the form of a coordinate grid. The signals from the camera 6 are fed to the recording device 8 via a line 7
A tilt and swivel head 10 with a transmitter function, which is actuated by the camera 2, sends corresponding signals via line 11 to a tilt and swivel head 12, which, designed as an actuator, guides the camera 6 such that both cameras 2 and 6 each take the same angles a round '3' and '3 and ss.
The x, y and z or x ', yt and z' coordinates of the installation locations of cameras 2 and 6 with respect to the center points M and M 'of fields 1 and 5 are similar to one another in a ratio of 1: 100 , with which in particular the height H of the camera 2 and the distance L to the corresponding values H / 100 and L / 100 are in this relationship. In addition, it should be assumed that the distance setting of the camera 2 is likewise given to the camera 6 via a transmitter element and an actuator, taking into account the scale difference between L and L1100. As a rule, the cameras 2 and 6 also have zoom devices for changing their focal lengths, which zoom devices are then likewise coupled to one another in a corresponding manner for synchronization.
In normal operation, the image 13 recorded by the camera 2, which in each case shows a selected area of the playing field 1, appears on the monitor 4 via the line 3 and permits an unobstructed view of the game action (FIG. 2). The same image 13 is transmitted via line 9 to the recording device 8 and stored in it on a magnetic tape 15.
The image 14 recorded by the camera 6, which shows a corresponding area of the reference field 5 and which is shown in a circle next to the line 7 in FIG. 2, is likewise transmitted to the recording device 8 via this line and simultaneously stored on the magnetic tape 15 , so that the recorded coordinate grid of the reference field 5 is underlaid on the image 13 of the playing field 1.
If the game is interrupted, the running of the magnetic tape 15 is stopped at the same time. After rewinding and then again moving the tape 15 forward in slow motion, the image 16 (FIG. 3) that appears from the recordings of the cameras 2 and 6 now appears on the monitor 4. The positions of the individual players can now be clearly identified with the help of the underlying coordinate grid. For example, an offside position can be clearly and easily recognized as such.
The disadvantages of perspective distortion due to the use of a single camera 2 are thus eliminated.
Of course, the two cameras 2 and 6 could also be linked to the monitor (s) and recording device in a different way than in the example described. For example, the signals from the two cameras could be combined with one another in front of the monitor 4, so that the image underlaid with the coordinate grid always appears on the monitor 4.
You could also the signals of the camera 6 as shown
the recording device 8 and at the same time feed the monitor 4 in an adjustable, weakened form, or one could provide, in addition to the monitor 4, which only shows the image 13 taken by the camera 2, a further monitor which simultaneously shows the combined image 16.
Of course, two or more systems of the type described can also be arranged on a playing field 1, so that the playing field 1 can be recorded by several cameras 2 set up at different locations, with each camera 2 then being assigned a camera 6. The cameras 6 can preferably - but not necessarily - record the same reference field 5.
If desired, additional, fixed television cameras with assigned monitors and recording devices for monitoring boundaries of the playing field, i.e. the areas of the goal lines and / or the outlines.
