Abstract

The apparatus is of the type not using an inflatable pneumatic cuff. It comprises a casing (1) fitted with a flexible end wall (2), and it contains a measurement chamber (3), a piezoelectric transmitter (11), a piezoelectric receiver (12) employing the Doppler effect, as well as a piezoelectric pressure sensor (8). This pressure sensor (8) is connected to a measurement (18) and display (15) circuit. The display (15) is controlled by the Doppler receiver (12). This apparatus makes it possible automatically to measure the blood pressure of the patient by simple application of the flexible wall (2) against a limb of the patient.
