Apparatus for the continuous treatment of thread-like material The invention relates to a device for the continuous treatment of a number of thread-like materials arranged parallel to one another under he increased pressure.
In the fiber industry, it is necessary in many cases to treat thread-like material under increased pressure, for example in dyeing processes, in heat treatment, etc. If the thread-like materials to be treated in this way are of a long and continuous shape, such as for For example yarn, etc., in the interest of the uniformity of the product and the various operations to be carried out, it is desirable to move the thread-like materials through a pressure vessel in their longitudinal direction for continuous treatment, i.e. to put them under increased pressure.
Many proposals have already been made to continuously introduce thread-like material into a pressure vessel and to continuously move it out of it, for example into the air. However, there has been no industrially advantageous device for fine thread-like materials of several tens of deniers to several hundreds of deniers.
In this treatment of fine, thread-like material, there are, in addition to the difficulties caused by the continuous passage of the material through the container, and the following problems caused by the fineness of the material, at the location of the pressure difference.
1) Because of the low thickness of the thread-like material, it often tears as a result of great resistance when passing through the pressure vessel.
2) Since the amount treated is small compared to large fiber bundles, the device should be cheap and therefore simple.
3) It is necessary to treat a number of fine filaments at one time on an industrial scale.
It is the object of the invention to overcome these difficulties and consequently to enable the continuous treatment of fine thread-like material under increased pressure in an industrially advantageous manner.
The device according to the invention is characterized by a container with a flange which has a groove on two opposite sides for the passage of the thread structure, the cross section of which is less than 4 mm =.
To understand the invention, the example application of a device according to the invention in the production of multi-filament yarn from acrylo-nitrile synthetic fiber is explained. According to such a method, as described in detail in the published Japanese patent application No. 22042/64, an acrylonitrile polymer was subjected to wet spinning, water washing and pre-stretching prior to the treatment in the device according to the invention .
The yarns thus obtained and swollen by water are then subjected to thermal expansion in saturated steam at 120 ° C. in the exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention shown in the drawing. In the drawing, F12 is. 1 a .; Pages;: nsicht. and FIG. 2 is a plan view of the device.
Hundreds of yarns 1 prepared in the preceding treatments indicated above are arranged parallel to one another at a distance of 5 mm from one another and are continuously moved from left to right through a pressure treatment container by a drive device 2 driven rollers 3. This container consists of a bottom part 4 with a flange 6 and a cover part 5 with a flange 7, between which flanges 6 and 7 a seal or packing S is provided.
When the container is closed, the flanges 6 and 7 are pressed against one another or, more precisely, against the pack 8 in a manner not shown. In the passage of the yarns 1, at a distance of 5 mm from each other, a hundred small grooves or grooves 9 and 10 running in the direction of movement of the yarns 1 are provided on opposite parts of the flange 6 and, together with the packing 8, form fine, outside and inside of the Behäl age interconnecting holes.
With the container open, the yarns 1 are laid through the rollers 9 and 10, the seal is placed on the flange 6, the lid 5 is resolved and clamped. Steam is then blown in through a steam pipe 11 under the pressure set by a reducing valve 12 and the container is thus filled with saturated steam at 120.degree.
Although steam is blown out through the small grooves 9 and 10, the amount blown out is not large due to the small cross-section of the grooves 9 and 10, so that the saturated steam pressure at 120 C (approx. 1 kg / cm - manometer pressure ) appropriate pressure can be maintained inside the container. The container is provided with accessories not shown, such as a pressure gauge, drain cock, safety valve, etc.
The yarns 1 are continuously moved out of the container by rollers 14 driven by a drive device 13 to the treatment process taking place to the right thereof, not shown and described.
The peripheral speed of the rollers 3 is e.g. 25 m / min. and that of the rollers 14 e.g. 100 m / min. This means that the yarns are stretched or stretched four times in the device. Each of the yarns 1 is a multifilament or multifilament yarn composed of 25 individual threads or fibers.
The thickness of the single thread or the single fiber is e.g. 3 denier. After the treatment, it is dried without changing its length, so that the thickness of the multifilament or multifilament yarn is 75 denier. Since the yarn passing through the device is swollen by water, its cross-section when entering the device is e.g. 0.06 mm "- and at the exit 0.01 mm =. For this yarn, grooves 9 of 0.5 mm wide and 1 mm deep are used at the entry and grooves 10 of 0.3 mm wide and 1 mm deep at the exit.
The length of the grooves 9 and 10, i.e. the width of the flange 6 is e.g. 5 cm and the total length of the treatment tank e.g. 2 m.
The above explanations relate only to an application example of the invention. The device according to the invention can be used in a wide variety of embodiments for all possible thread-like materials, such as e.g. multi-thread yarn, Einfädiöes yarn, spun yarn, etc.
Since, as described further below, the thickness of the material sets an upper limit and the thread passing through the small grooves is often due to unreliable parts such as e.g. Knot torn. Thus, the apparatus of the present invention works best when treating fine, continuous filaments of from about several tens of deniers to several hundred deniers.
As a filling substance for the treatment container, in addition to the steam, hot steam or superheated steam. Hot water, an aqueous solution of salt or dye or the liquid or gas of inorganic or organic substances with the exception of water are possible.
In certain cases it is advantageous to arrange a heater in the container or to subject the treatment liquid to a pump liquid between the treatment container and a liquid reservoir and a heat exchanger.
In the example shown and described, the yarn moves through the container in a linear, that is, straight motion, because the required treatment time is only short. To lengthen the treatment time in the container, in another embodiment the yarn can be deflected once or several times by means of deflection rollers and yarn guides in the container.
While the yarn is stretched or stretched in the container in the example described above, 4, depending on the desired goal, it is of course also possible to carry out a treatment in which the yarn is contracted or maintains a constant length.
The essence of the invention lies in the part with the small grooves 9 and 10 through which the thread-like material runs in the treatment container. The result of a series of tests has shown that for an advantageous industrial use in one embodiment, the following conditions must be met: The first is in the fine holes formed by the pack 8 and grooves 9, 10. As a result, a number of yarns can be laid through the container with the lid 5 open before treatment begins. Such a device for treating a number of yarns at the same time can not only be manufactured easily and at low prices, but it can also be easily prepared for work.
It has a simple feed device for the yarns because they are guided through the container parallel to one another in the same plane. There is practically no limit to the number and spacing of the small grooves. These two sizes can be adapted to the amount of yarn from the preceding and subsequent types of treatment and thus to the performance of the overall system without confusing the yarn or the thread mass.
The cross-section of the grooves is less than 4 mm =, but should be at least more than twice that of the thread-like material to be treated. If grooves with a cross-section of more than 4 mm are used, the blow-out loss of the treatment fluid is unfavorably cast and the yarn is then subject to irregular vibrations which, in extreme cases, can lead to tearing.
probably because the fluid being blown out creates an uneven vortex in the area of the blow-out opening.
If, on the other hand, the cross-section of the grooves is less than twice that of the yarn to be treated, the latter runs the risk of being damaged by the walls of the grooves - and in extreme cases it can also tear. The lower limit for the groove cross-section varies somewhat depending on the type of material to be treated and on the treatment; conditions:
so the groove cross-section is e.g. the 3-. 4- (-) the multiple of that of particularly weak yarn. Oh, even though it is in the interest of reducing the blow-out losses of the treatment fluid he would like to choose grooves with a correspondingly small cross-section for very fine yarns, the manufacturing methods are used to manufacture them the grooves are limited.
The best conditions result, I in a special embodiment for the treatment of thread-like material of about a few tens to a few hundred denier with a groove cross-section of less than 1 mm '.
The suitable groove cross-sectional shape can be very different, e.g. Rectangular, tr <<pezoid-shaped, triangular, semicircular, elliptical "nfiirmi (, ttsw" where it is desirable that the depth of the grooves is greater than their width on the side of the packs 8 or the flange 7.
If a groove that is not very deep is used, there is a risk that it will be closed or clogged by a slight deformation of the pack, which requires frequent replacement of the pack. A narrow groove, as.) One with a great depth compared to the width, is also not advantageous because the resistance exerted on the yarn by the walls of the grooves is increased.
As a result of tests, a ratio of groove depth to groove width in the range from 1.5 to 4.0 has been found. It is advisable to finely work the walls of the grooves and round off the edges at both ends. The length of the grooves is not critical. Tests have shown no significant change in the gradual transition from 5 mm to 20 cm in length. The length of the groove can therefore depend on the width of the flange 6, which is to be selected with regard to the strength of the pressure vessel.
The material for the packing 8 can e.g. Asbestos, rubber, Teflon or another material can be used, the operating temperature and the type of Flui dums in the container must be taken into account when choosing the same. The surface of the pack 8 should be as smooth as possible, and clogging of the grooves should be avoided even if the pack is deformed. If the flanges 6 and 7 can be machined very precisely, the use of the packing 8 can possibly be dispensed with, so that the flanges lie directly on top of one another.
To make it easier to open and close the container, it is advisable to hold the pack on the groove-free flange, i.e. on the flange 7 in the present example. Since the grooves are worn out by the blowing fluid and the thread-like material passing through with long use, it is advisable to arrange the grooves on a part that is replaceable on the flange. In addition, this arrangement of the grooves on an exchangeable part allows the groove size to be easily selected according to the thickness of the yarn to be treated.
PATENT CLAIM Device for the continuous treatment of a number of thread-like materials arranged parallel to one another under increased pressure, characterized by a container with a flange (6) which has grooves (9, 10) on two opposite sides for the passage of thread-like materials (1) whose cross-section is less than 4 mm =.
