Liquid self-hardening mixture for casting molds and mold cores The present invention relates to a liquid self-hardening mixture for the production of casting molds and mold cores, with a total moisture content of at most 6% and with a filler, a binding agent consisting of an aqueous sodium silicate solution, a foaming agent and an additive that ensures self-hardening of the mixture.
Liquid mixtures are known which contain a sulfonic acid as a foaming agent.
As a hardening additive, which ensures the self-hardening of the mixture with liquid water glass, nepheline sludge has so far been used, which is a by-product in the production of alumina from nepheline ore.
When using a sulfonic acid as a foaming agent, it was necessary to neutralize the acid beforehand in order to improve the technological properties of the mixture.
In addition, the sulfonic acids are only a part of the foaming agents that are suitable for liquefying mixtures.
In the previously known methods, only one of the possible components which ensure the self-hardening of the mixture is specified, namely the nepheline sludge.
However, this material is scarce because the number of occurrences of nepheline ores from which the nepheline sludge is extracted is limited.
The solidification time of the known self-hardening mixtures is relatively long and reaches 40 to 50 minutes.
The present invention aims to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
The invention is based on the object of providing a liquid, self-hardening mixture using inexpensive, generally accessible substances, and of providing a way of regulating the open time of the liquid mixture and its solidification time in air.
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that alkylarylsulfonates, alkylsulfonates or alkylsulfate additives are present in the mixture as foaming agents, highly basic slag with a CaO: SiO2 weight ratio of 1.5 to 3.0.
Slag from the ferrochrome industry, in which the weight ratio CaO: SiO9 is about 2.0, can be used as the highly basic slag in a quantity of 2.0-7.0% by weight of the mixture weight.
In order to accelerate the solidification of the mixture, an additional introduction of anhydrous calcium sulphate (CaSO4) in an amount of 0.5 to 2.0% by weight of the total weight of the mixture is recommended.
By adding borax as a hardening retarder to the mixture in an amount of 0.01 to 0.1% by weight of the mixture, the hardening time can be varied within wide limits.
In the mixture containing filler, binder, foaming agent and hardener additive, a soda soap of water-insoluble organic acids in an amount of 0.01 to 0.2 wt. 11 / o of the total weight of the mixture can be introduced as a foam stabilizer to increase the foam resistance.
In order to shorten the residence time of the mixture in the liquid state, it is recommended to add an additive which reduces the foam resistance, namely z. B. kerosene, add in amounts of 1-5 wt .-% of the foaming agent weight.
To prepare the mixture you can, for. B. proceed in such a way that first the dry components of the filler (e.g. quartz sand, olivine sand, chromium magnesite powder and others) and the hardener additive in the form of highly basic slag with a weight ratio of Ca0: Si02 of 1.5 to 3.0 - be mixed together.
A phase that contains a liquid aqueous solution of sodium silicate as a binder, the sulfonates or sulfates as foaming agents and small amounts of water is then added to the above-mentioned mixture of the dry components in such a way that the total moisture of the Mixture preferably remains between 4.5-5.5% by weight, and the mixture mass obtained in this way is intensively mixed until it is liquefied.
Immediately afterwards, the mixture can be poured into a core mold or model box, where it hardens in the given time in the air.
The sulfonates or sulfates used, preferably those of the alkali metals, are preferably obtained or synthesized in a manner known per se by sulfating or sulfating the products processed from crude oil or oil shale raw materials.
From the series of sulfates, respectively. Sulphonates include the sodium salts of the alkylbenzene, alkylnaphthalene and alkylsulphonates and the primary and secondary alkyl sulphates.
The trade names of some sulfo compounds from the series of the above-mentioned products are as follows: sulfanol, DC-PAC (a refined alkylarylsulfonate), alkanol, acidol, Ultrawet, Mersolat and others.
The foaming agents can be added to the mixture e.g. B. to be set in amounts about 0.05-0.2% of its total weight.
A preferred composition range of the mixture is as follows:

The from the filler, the binder, the foam-forming substance and the highly basic slag, such as. B. ferrochrome slag, resulting mixture solidifies for 40-50 minutes.
In order to accelerate the hardening process, 0.5-2.0% by weight of the total weight of the latter gypsum can be added to this mixture, preferably in the form of water-insoluble anhydrite. The hardening time of this mixture can be reduced to 3-4 minutes.
In order to be able to change the hardening speed of the gypsum-containing mixture within wide limits, hardening retarders such as borax (NanB407-10H., 0), phosphates or borates of the alkali metals in an amount of 0.01 to 0.1 W / o of the total weight of the mixture introduced.
The hardening time of the mixture and its durability can also be regulated by changing the binder content, the binder module, and the amount and grain size of the additive, which causes the cores and molds to self-harden. The hardening time of casting molds and mold cores of any dimensions is usually less than 40-50 minutes.
Under certain circumstances, it may be necessary during operation to change the residence time of the mixture in the liquid state. By introducing a foam stabilizer - e.g. B. soda soaps of water-insoluble organic acids, the z.
B. can be obtained from waste products of caustic washing of kerosene, gas oil and solar oil distillers in the petroleum industry, in the mixture composed of filler, binding agent, foaming agent and additive that hardens in the air in quantities of 0.01-0 , 2% of its total weight increases the residence time of the mixture in the liquid state.
