Level indicator for liquids and bulk materials The subject of the present invention is a level indicator for liquids and bulk materials. Devices serving the same purpose are already known which have a sensor which can be set into vibration by electromagnetic drive means and which is intended to be dampened in its vibrations by contact with the liquid or bulk material. The known devices of this type are also provided with a mechanical-electrical converter which responds to the movements of the sensor and whose output is connected to an electrical evaluation device.
It is also known to form the mechanical-electrical converter by means of a permanent magnet connected to the oscillatable sensor and a stationary induction coil located in the area of action of this magnet.
One difficulty with the devices described is to prevent harmful magnetic interference from the excitation coil of the electromagnetic drive means onto the induction coil. The present invention shows how this difficulty can be sufficiently eliminated in a surprisingly simple manner.
This aim is achieved with the level indicator according to the invention in that the induction coil has a position that is symmetrical and perpendicular to the central axis of the excitation coil of the electromagnetic drive device and d; The feeler is a rod which coaxially enforces the excitation coil, ends in front of the induction coil and at the end in question carries the pemiian entimaignete lying completely outside the induction coil.
Details emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment and from the associated drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a level indicator according to the invention in longitudinal section, the electrical circuits to be connected also being schematic. are indicated.
FIG. 2 is a cross section along the line II-II in FIG. 1.
The level indicator illustrated in the drawing has an electromagnetic excitation coil 11 which is mounted on a coil body 12 made of electrically and magnetically non-conductive material, e.g. B. synthetic resin, is attached. In an axial recess of the coil body 12 sits a ferromagnetic core 13 which is likewise axially drilled through and which is provided at one end with an outwardly protruding flange ring 14 which, like the core 13, is also magnetically conductive.
The coil body 12 is located in one end part of a tubular housing 15 which has a magnetically conductive jacket 16 on the outside. A rod 17 made of magnetically non-conductive material extends through the axial bore of the core 13 and the flange ring 14 with radial play. The rod 17 is firmly seated in a central opening of a rubber-elastic disk 18, the outer circumference of which is held in place by means of a sleeve-shaped extension 12a of the bobbin 1.2. This arrangement of the rod 17 allows the rod to oscillate in its longitudinal direction.
A ferramagnetic sleeve 19 is attached to the rod 17, namely between the flangeless end of the core 13 and the igummelastic disk 18. The sleeve 19 forms the armature of an electromagnet, which mainly consists of the coil 11 and the core 13 .
This electromagnet 11, 13 and the sleeve 19 form the electromagnetic drive device in order to set the rod 17 in vibrations.
The rod 17 partially protrudes into the housing 15 and at its end located inside the housing 15 carries a small permanent magnet 20. In the area of action of this magnet.
20 there is an electrical induction coil 2il, the central axis of which is arranged at right angles to that of the excitation coil 17. The induction coil 21 has a position which is symmetrical to the central axis of the excitation coil 11 and is wound on a coil body 22 made of electrically and magnetically insulating material. The coil body 22 is fastened in a tubular extension 12b of the coil body 12 with the aid of an adhesive plug 23 which penetrates a radial opening in the extension 12b.
Viewed from the excitation coil 11, the rod 17 ends in front of the induction coil 21, and the permanent magnet 20 is located entirely outside the induction coil 21 between the latter and the end of the core 13 of the electromagnet 11, 13 on the flange ring 14.
The conductor ends of the excitation coil 11 and the induction coil 21 are connected to a multi-pole socket 24 ′, which is located on the housing 15. A corresponding plug 25 is detachably inserted into the socket 24. At the end of the housing 15 facing away from the rod 17, there is a threaded nipple 26, onto which a union nut 27 with an opening for the only schematically shown exclusion cables 28 and 29 to pass through is pushed.
Through a connection cable 28, the excitation coil 11 is ver connected to an AC power source 30, the z. B. can be a transformer that is connected on the primary side to the Lichtstoomverteilnet. The other connecting cable 29 connects the induction coil 21 to the input of an amplifier 31, to whose output a display instrument 32 and / or a relay 33 is connected. The parts 31, 32 and 33 together form the electrical evaluation device.
The method of use and operation of the device described is as follows:
When the power source 30 is switched on, the magnetic effect of the electromagnet 11, 13 causes the sleeve 19 to be periodically attracted and released again. Since the sleeve 19 is firmly seated on the rod 17, the latter is caused to oscillate in its longitudinal direction, the rubber-elastic disk 18 providing the restoring force counteracting the electromagnet. The magnetic field emanating from the permanent magnet 20 partially penetrates the induction coil 21.
During the oscillation of the rod 17, however, the magnetic flux through the coil 21 experiences periodic changes which generate an electrical voltage in the windings of the coil 21 which is multiplied in the amplifier 31 to actuate the relay 33 and the display instrument 32 from the housing 15 protruding part of the rod 17 extends as a sensor in a container, not shown, for liquids or bulk materials. As long as the liquid or the bulk material does not touch the rod 17, the latter can oscillate unhindered.
But when the liquid or bulk material exceeds a predetermined level in the container, the rod 17 comes into contact with the liquid or the bulk material, whereby the vibration of the rod 17 is considerably dampened and the voltage induced in the induction coil 21 is noticeably reduced. This change in voltage causes a different display on the instrument 32 and the de-energization of the relay 33.
Thus, the critical level of the liquid or the bulk material is visibly displayed by means of the instrument 32, with any electrical controls being able to be triggered automatically at the same time by means of the relay 33 if desired.
The magnetic field lines generated by the excitation coil 11 run almost exclusively in the ferromagnetic parts 13, 14, 16 and 19 and in the shortest connecting stretches between the parts mentioned. Therefore, only relatively few field lines scatter into the induction coil 21, and this in a symmetrical manner so that the voltages generated in the induction coil 21 by the magnetic stray field of the exciter coil 11 are negligibly low. The ferromagnetic jacket 16 also shields the induction coil 21 against the influence of any external magnetic fields that may be present.
The level display device described has the advantage of greater simplicity over the comparable known designs. and lower prime costs.
