Description
Welding head for electrical contact butt welding of tubular ring seams The present invention relates to a welding head for electrical contact butt welding of tubular ring seams with a diameter of more than 400 mm.
The currently known welding heads of this type have an annular housing which is opened in an axial plane and placed from the outside onto the tubes to be welded. If pipes with a large diameter have to be welded, the weight and dimensions of such welding heads reach inadmissibly high values, which makes the welding process more difficult and increases the costs of the system.
To eliminate the disadvantages mentioned, the invention relates to a welding head for electrical contact butt welding of pipe ring seams with a diameter of more than 400 mm, with a housing made of two ring-like halves, an annular welding transformer, clamping contact blocks for clamping the pipes to be welded and for supplying the current, a drive for adjusting the clamping contact blocks in the radial direction, and a drive for the relative adjustment of the tubes to be welded in the axial direction when welding and forming the weld seam.
According to the invention, such a welding head is characterized in that both halves of the housing are connected to one another by means of a central rod and are arranged on a self-propelled chassis, by means of which the welding head is inserted and moved in the interior of the pipes to be welded while the terminal contact blocks are on are arranged on the surface of the welding head housing and cause the pipes to be welded to be clamped by clamping them apart from the inside.
An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
1 shows a longitudinal section of the proposed welding head and FIG. 2 shows a side view of the same.
The two halves 1 and 2 of the ring-shaped housing of the welding head are connected to one another by the central rod 3. The clamping contact blocks 4 and 5 are arranged on the surface of the housing and are used to clamp the tubes 6 and 7 to be welded by clamping the tube walls apart from the inside. The welding head housing is placed on the self-propelled chassis provided with support rollers 8 and 9 with the aid of the central rod 3. The ring-shaped hydraulic cylinders 10 and 11 are clamped by the ring-shaped piston rods 14 and 15 with the ring 16 and 17 connected.
These clamps have a conical outer surface which comes into contact with the beveled surface of the clamp and contact blocks 4.
The hydraulic ring cylinder 18 together with Ringkol ben 19 and ring piston rod 20 comprise the central rod 3. The piston rod 20 is displaceable with respect to the central rod 3. The flanges 21 and 22 are firmly arranged with respect to the central rod and are used to attach both halves of the welding head housing.
The welding transformer 23 is placed on the central rod. Its secondary winding (not shown in the drawing) is connected to the terminals of the contact blocks 4 and 5. The hydraulic pump 24 and its electric drive 25 are arranged along with the welding head housing on the self-propelled chassis.
The pump 24 is used to feed the hydraulic cylinder that controls the adjustment of the clamping contact blocks, as well as the hydraulic cylinder that effects an axial adjustment of the pipes to be welded.
The electric drive 25 is used to operate the pump 24 and to move the Selbstfahrge stells when adjusting the welding head within the pipes to be welded.
The power supply to the welding head and the connection of the measuring and control devices are made via a flexible cable that is connected to the welding head with the aid of the plug contact 26.
The welding head is operated in the following manner.
The welding head is brought into the interior of the pipe to be welded using a lifting device.
The electric drive 25 of the self-propelled chassis is switched on and the welding head is moved inside the pipe until it reaches the seam to be welded. The hydraulic cylinders 10 and 11 are then switched on so that the clamps 16 and 17 are adjusted after the weld seam.
There is an interaction of the conical surfaces of the terminals with the beveled upper surface of the terminal contact blocks instead; the latter are shifted in the radial direction and clamp men the pipes to be welded by disconnecting the same from the inside.
After the pipes have been clamped, the welding transformer is switched on, which supplies the con tact blocks 4 and 5 with electricity. At the same time, the control device (not shown in the drawing) actuates the hydraulic cylinder 18, which is used to move the pipes to be welded in the axial direction. After the pipe edges have been touched, the welding current cycle starts and the welding process begins. As the pipe edges are welded together, the pipes slowly approach each other and after sufficient heating, the pipes are quickly pressed against one another and the weld seam is formed.
In the further course of the process, the hydraulic cylinders 10 and 11 are switched off, the clamps 16 and 17 move away from the weld seam, the blocks 4 and 5 move radially inward and release the welded pipes. The self-propelled chassis is switched on and the welding head is brought inside the pipe to the next pipe seam to be welded.
The welding head can be used to weld pipes with a diameter of 720 mm or more. A high level of work performance with good weld seam quality and low system costs is guaranteed.
