Fig. 2 zeigt die Schaltungsanordnung der Spulen.
Fig. 2 zeigt die Schaltungsanordnung der Spulen.
Device for determining weight
The invention relates to a device for determining weight, which is provided with a coil arranged in a magnetic field, which is displaced from the zero position under the action of the weight of the object to be weighed and returned by the current flowing in it.
In known devices of this type, the coil is generally wound on a cylindrical insulating body which, similar to a loudspeaker coil, is arranged in an air gap of a magnetic circuit in which the field extends radially, so that an electrodynamic force is exerted on the coil. The coil has a zero position that can be determined, for example, by a spring. After the device is loaded with the weight, the coil shows a deflection, after which the current in the coil is adjusted so that it returns to the zero position under the action of the force exerted on it by the field. The strength of the current is then a measure of the weight.
The coil does not need to be held in the zero position by a spring when it is not loaded, but this can also be done by means of a counterweight, as with conventional scales.
Sometimes the magnetism of the circle decreases after some time or as a result of a change in temperature, as a result of which the sensitivity of the balance decreases and a correct measurement is no longer obtained. The invention relates to a device in which this disadvantage does not occur.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a second coil arranged in a field derived from the same magnet as the field in which the first coil is arranged, the second coil being loaded with a known weight and is also returned to the zero position by a current and the two currents or their ratio are measured.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, for example.
Fig. 1 shows a section through a device according to the invention, and
Fig. 2 shows the circuit arrangement of the coils.
The magnetic circuit of the device according to FIG. 1 consists of an annular permanent magnet 2, a cylindrical core 1 and two flanges 3 and 3 'which are joined together by non-magnetic connecting pieces 8 to form a mechanical unit. The flanges 3 and 3 'made of magnetic material are provided with circular openings in which the ends of the core, which is also made of magnetic material, are so that two cylindrical air gaps 4 and 4' with a radially extending field remain. In these air gaps, coils 6 and 6 'attached to insulating bodies 5 and 5' can be moved in the axial direction. The former coil can be referred to as the main coil and the second as the auxiliary coil.
The main spool is under the influence of the weight G1 to be determined via a lever, which pulls the spool upwards. If necessary, a magnetic shunt 10 is provided, by means of which the field of the auxiliary coil can be set to a favorable value. The auxiliary coil is under the influence of a known calibration weight GO, which pulls the coil down. When the coils are not loaded with weights, they are in a zero position determined by springs 7 and 7 '. Mechanical or electrical means known per se can be used to display the zero position.
After the bobbins have been loaded with the weights, direct currents are sent through the coils in such a way that the coils are returned to the zero position. Then the currents are measured and the ratio of the currents, which is proportional to the weight to be determined, is determined.
This ratio does not depend on the magnetic state of the circuit, because a possible decrease in magnetism acts equally on both coils. It would even be possible not to use a permanent magnet 2, but to magnetize the entire circuit by a direct current, which does not need to be kept exactly constant.
Fig. 2 shows the circuit arrangement of the coils.
They are connected in series with the resistors R1 and R2 and the ammeters M1 and M2 to a direct current source V.
Instead of reading each knife separately, it is also possible to use a device that shows the ratio of the currents directly, for example a cross-coil instrument.
