Device for automatic separation of water or other condensing liquid, in particular in a pneumatic installation The present invention relates to an automatic device for separating water or other condensing liquid, in particular in a pneumatic installation subject to pressure variations. during the operation of the installation.
Devices of the type indicated above are already known. However, these devices. known are of complicated construction, which makes their price high. In addition, -because of the complication of known devices, they can be subject to operating faults which may have serious consequences depending on the installation to which they are applied.
The device according to the invention is characterized by the fact that it comprises a valve with two seats carried by a mobile unit forming a separating partition movable between two chambers, one upstream in communication with the capacity of the pneumatic installation, and the other downstream, one of the seats controlling a passage between the two chambers and the other seat controlling a second passage between the downstream chamber and the outside, a spring tending to keep the valve applied by its first seat to close the passage between the two chambers, the opening of this passage being able to occur only after closing of the second passage, under the effect of a momentary increase in pressure in the installation.
The single figure of the appended drawing is a sectional view of an embodiment of the device according to the invention, given by way of example.
This device for automatic separation of water or other condensing liquid, applicable in particular to a pneumatic installation subjected to pressure variations during its operation, comprises a casing 1, forming an envelope, inside which is arranged a partition 2. In the example shown, this partition 2 comprises a membrane 3 carrying, in its central part, a mobile unit 4, comprising a body 5.
This partition 2 separates the internal space of the casing 1 into two chambers: One 6, called the upstream chamber, is intended to be connected by a channel 7 to the capacity of the pneumatic installation. Preferably, a filter 8 is interposed between the capacity of the installation and the channel 7 putting the upstream chamber 6 in communication with the installation. .The other chamber 9, called the downstream chamber, is capable of being put into communication with the upstream chamber 6 by a passage 10 arranged between the two chambers 6 and 9 in the body 5 forming part of the mobile unit 4 .
The chamber 9 is capable of being put into communication with the outside by a second passage 11 arranged in the wall of the casing 1.
A single valve 12 with two seats 13, respec tively 14,. Is carried by. The mobile unit 4. The seat 13 of this valve is intended for the control of passage 10 capable of communicating the two chambers 6 and 9 The seat 14 calls for the passage 11 allowing the bedroom 9 to communicate with the exterior. A spring 15 is intended to exert pressure on the valve 12 and therefore tends to maintain the seat 13 in the closed position of the passage 10.
As shown in the drawing, the shape given to the body 5 is designed so that the latter serves as a support and guide for the valve 12.
The operation of the device: described above is as follows During the use of the tire installation, of which the claimed device is part, water or other condensation liquid collects in the upstream chamber 6 by reaching this chamber through the filter 8 and through the channel 7. In general, any pneumatic installation, for example a pneumatic installation for controlling vehicle brakes, is subjected to pressure variations during its operation.
Thus, during a brake actuation command, the pressure drops in the installation, whereas it rises when the compressor resumes. on to restore the initial operating pressure. It is precisely these pressure variations which are used for the control of the valve 12 and thus for the control of the evacuation of the condensation water from the installation.
During an increase in pressure in the installation, an increase which is also felt in the chamber 6, the partition 2 is moved downwards. Therefore, the valve 12, the seat 14 of which closes the passage 11, is lifted relative to the body 5 against the action of the spring 15. Thus, the seat 13 of the valve moves away from the corresponding seat arranged in the body. 5, which opens the passage 10. Under the effect of the pressure prevailing in the chamber 6, the liquid contained in the latter # is therefore discharged, through the passage 10, into the -chambre 9, while the latter is this is always sealed vis-à-vis the outside by maintaining the seat 14 on the opening of the wise thread 11.
As soon as there is pressure equilibrium between the chambers 6. And 9, taking into account the spring 15, the latter closes the passage 10 via the seat 13.
During a pressure drop in the pneumatic installation, successive drop, for example, when the brakes are operated, the higher pressure prevailing in the chamber 9 pushes the movable partition 2 upwards and causes the passage to open. 11 by spacing the seat 14 thereof. Thus, the chamber 9 is put into communication with the outside, and the water collected in this chamber 9 can be discharged.
It should be noted that the spring 15, tending to hand hold the valve 12 in the closed position of the wise pitch 10, can be chosen of relatively high force, which guarantees good sealing of the device. Furthermore, the force of this spring 15 can be chosen so that only pressure variations of a given magnitude cause the operation of the automatic discharge device for the condensation water.
Many variations of this execution could be imagined. Thus, the movable partition 2, instead of comprising a membrane 3, could be constituted by a piston movable in a cylinder, this piston carrying the valve 12. One could, among other things, also propose not to keep the seat 14 on the cylinder. the opening -of passage 11, that is to say to put the chamber 9 in communication with the outside, when the .pressures in the chambers 6 and 9 are equal, for example using a spring which would then keep the mobile crew 4 in the high position.
However, the embodiment shown is preferred, given the great simplicity of manufacture eliminating any risk of malfunction of the device.
