Method for aligning a camera and prism for carrying out the method The invention relates to a method for aligning a camera on a carrier, in particular a title device, by means of a prism attached to the image window section of the opened camera.
It is already known to deflect the image generated by the camera lens in the picture window by a prism inserted into the film web and to view it with the camera open, in particular with the aid of a magnifying glass. The camera can thus be aligned to the desired image section. However, this work is very tedious and cumbersome, as you have to observe closely and not have both hands free to adjust the camera as long as you hold the magnifying glass with one hand.
In addition, a device is known by means of which a small incandescent lamp can be arranged over the picture window. Their light is thrown through the lens onto the image or adjustment template and illuminates the image section captured by the lens. The camera can be adjusted more easily, but the device is more complicated and expensive than a prism and cannot be accommodated in all cameras.
These disadvantages are avoided according to the invention in that a beam of rays emanating from a light source located outside the camera is directed onto the prism, deflected by it and thrown through the image window section and the camera objectively onto an alignment template in such a way that the image window is sharply delimited there, depicts illuminated area. It is particularly expedient for the prism to be designed for carrying out the method in such a way that the light entry surface of the prism is firmly connected to a converging lens.
An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
The figures show: FIG. 1 the arrangement of the devices required to carry out the method, FIG. 2 an enlarged prism and an oblique image.
The opened camera 1 is screwed to a carrier plate 2 of a title device 3, in the stand base 4 an adjustment template 5 is inserted. The optical axis of the camera lens 6 is perpendicular to the alignment template. A prism 9 provided with a convexly curved light entry surface 8 is located in the film web above the image window cutout (not shown) with the film door 7 open and the rotary shutter (not shown) open.
A projector 10 is set up 20 to 50 cm away from the camera 1 in such a way that its optical axis strikes the center of the light entry surface of the prism approximately perpendicularly.
If the lamp of the projector is switched on, part of the exiting light rays from the light entry surface 8 is collected, reversed in the prism and thrown through the image window section and the camera lens 6 onto the template 5. If the camera lens is adapted to the distance from the alignment template, a sharply delimited light rectangle 11 marks the image section captured by the camera lens.
With the help of two screws 12, 13 an adjustment device on the title device, the position of the camera is changed until the light rectangle is in the center of the adjustment template.
The prism is particularly expediently injected from plastic, since it does not have to have any special optical qualities, and the convex light entry surface is expediently curved so that its focal point lies within the camera lens when the prism is inserted into the camera. This results in evenly bright illumination.
