Appareil pour appliquer des substances fluides sur les cheveux, à proximité de leurs racines Il est fréquemment nécessaire en coiffure, et plus particulièrement en coiffure pour dames, de traiter les cheveux à proximité des racines, ou du cuir che velu, avec une substance fluide telle, par exemple, qu'une lotion, une teinture, un décolorant ou autre produit de traitement, la substance possédant une consistance liquide ou crémeuse.
La technique habi tuelle pour procéder à un tel traitement consiste à partager la chevelure avec un peigne et à appliquer la substance avec une brosse sur la raie ainsi formée, cette opération étant répétée un nombre considérable de fois pour couvrir la totalité de la tête. Ce traite ment exige beaucoup de temps. Dans le cas particu lier de la décoloration des cheveux, un tel traitement est nécessaire après la décoloration initiale pour ame ner la partie des cheveux ayant récemment poussé, près de la racine, à la même couleur que celle des cheveux déjà décolorés.
L'action des décolorants dépend du temps pen dant lequel ils sont en contact avec les cheveux, de sorte que si le temps mis à appliquer le décolorant sur la chevelure est long et si l'on n'enlève le décolo rant par lavage que lorsqu'on a traité la totalité de la tête, le degré de décoloration peut varier considéra blement sur différentes parties de la tête.
Un but de l'invention est de réaliser un appareil permettant de traiter relativement vite et uniformé ment les cheveux à proximité de leurs racines à l'ex clusion du reste de la chevelure.
L'invention a pour objet un appareil, pour appli quer des substances fluides sur les cheveux à proxi mité de leurs racines, qui comprend un organe pour partager la chevelure en formant une raie et un ap plicateur pour transférer la substance fluide à partir d'un réservoir sur les cheveux dans la raie ainsi for mée, lequel appareil est caractérisé en ce que la subs tance fluide s'écoule jusqu'à l'applicateur au travers d'un passage dans lequel est prévu un dispositif ajus- table pour régler le débit de substance fluide.
Le dispositif ajustable pour régler le débit affecte de préférence la forme d'un obturateur mobile dans des guides de manière à obstruer plus ou moins com plètement le passage.
L'obturateur peut être en forme d'arc de cercle et il peut se déplacer dans une fente en forme d'arc de cercle intersectant le passage.
L'applicateur est de préférence monté dans une tête qui se trouve elle-même montée d'une manière amovible sur un réservoir, et l'obturateur peut être monté sur le réservoir ou sur la tête.
Des moyens peuvent être prévus pour admettre de l'air à un débit variable dans le réservoir pour y remplacer la substance fluide s'écoulant par l'applica teur, afin de faire varier le degré de liberté d'un tel écoulement.
Le dessin annexé représente à titre d'exemple deux formes d'exécution de l'appareil faisant l'objet de l'invention.
La fig. 1 représente en élévation une première forme d'exécution.
La fig. 2 est une coupe verticale par 2-2 fig. 1. La fig. 3 est une coupe verticale par 3-3 fig. 2.. La fig. 4 représente l'appareil des fig. 1 à 3 vu en plan, la moitié inférieure de la tête et de l'organe destiné à partager la chevelure étant omise.
La fig. 5 représente, en élévation et partiellement en coupe verticale, un autre mode de réalisation d'une tête destinée à équiper un appareil tel que ce lui que représentent les fig. 1 à 4. La fig. 6 représente, en élévation et partielle- ment en coupe verticale, un appareil établi selon un autre mode de réalisation de l'invention.
L'appareil représenté aux fig. 1 à 4 comprend un réservoir 10, une tête 11 et un organe 12 pour parta ger la chevelure, un applicateur 13 en forme de roue monté de manière à pouvoir tourner dans une cavité 14 ménagée dans la tête 11 tout en possédant une partie de sa périphérie faisant saillie hors de ladite cavité et un passage ou ouverture 15 dans la paroi du réservoir 10 pour faire communiquer la cavité 14 avec l'intérieur de ce réservoir.
Le réservoir 10 est réalisé de préférence par moulage d'une matière thermoplastique synthétique transparente et possède une forme généralement sphé rique comme représenté, mais il comporte une surfa ce extérieure cylindrique 16 s'étendant des deux cô tés du plan médian suivant lequel a été faite la coupe que représente la fig. 3, de manière à former une zo ne s'étendant autour du réservoir. Un bossage creux 17 faisant saillie vers -l'extérieur est formé sur le ré servoir, l'axe de ce bossage se trouvant dans le plan médian susmentionné, et le réservoir est pourvu de quatre pieds 18 disposés de façon qu'il puisse repo ser sur une surface horizontale de manière que le bossage 17 se dresse verticalement de bas en haut.
La partie de la paroi du réservoir 10 comportant la surface cylindrique 16 est épaissie en 21, et dans la portion épaissie est formée une fente 22, de sec tion transversale rectangulaire et suivant la courbure de la surface 16, la fente 22 intersectant l'ouverture ou passage 15 et étant plus large que ladite ouver ture.
Un obturateur 23 en forme d'arc de cercle est monté de manière à coulisser dans la fente, une ex trémité de l'obturateur faisant saillie hors de la fente sur l'extérieur du réservoir entre deux des pieds 18 et comportant une saillie striée 2.4 donnant prise au pouce et grâce à laquelle il est possible de faire cou lisser l'obturateur 23 dans les deux sens le long de la fente 22 pour ouvrir et fermer l'ouverture 15.
Une ouverture 25 est ménagée dans la portion de la paroi du réservoir comportant la surface cylindri que 16 en un point situé entre les deux autres pieds 18, et deux guides 26 possédant en coupe transver sale un profil en forme de L et qui sont courbés en arc de cercle supportent une plaque 27 en lui per mettant de glisser circonférentiellement le long de ladite surface 16 pour obturer plus ou moins ladite ouverture 25, la plaque 27 comportant une saillie striée 28 donnant prise à un doigt pour faciliter sa manipulation La tête 11 est conformée de manière à s'adapter dans le bossage creux 17 et comporte une bride in terrompue 29,
la paroi du bossage 17 étant décou pée en 31 pour permettre aux portions de bride 29 de se déplacer axialemment dans le bossage et étant rainurée en 32 entre les portions découpées en 31, les portions de bride 29 pénétrant dans la rainure 32 lorsqu'on fait tourner la tête après l'avoir insérée dans le bossage pour réaliser un verrouillage du type à baïonnette entre la tête 11 et le réservoir 10. Une bride 33 prévue sur la tête 11 repose sur l'extrémité supérieure du bossage 17. La cavité 14 ménagée dans la tête 11 possède une section transversale sensible ment rectangulaire et s'étend jusqu'à une ouverture percée dans l'extrémité extérieure de ladite tête, les parois de la cavité convergeant vers cette dernière ouverture.
L'applicateur 13 est monté sur un axe 34 s'éten dant transversalement par rapport à la cavité 14, les parois latérales de l'applicateur convergeant pour se conformer au profil des parois latérales de la cavité, et les parois extrêmes de la cavité suivant sensible ment la courbure périphérique de l'applicateur. La surface périphérique de l'applicateur comporte -une gorge 36 à section transversale en arc de cercle dans laquelle sont formées des nervures transversales 37 donnant à la gorge 36 une surface qui n'est pas lisse.
Les faces latérales de l'applicateur 13 comportent des nervures circonférentielles 38 qui permettent de lais ser subsister des espaces entre lesdites faces latérales de l'applicateur et les parois latérales de la cavité de la tête autour de l'axe 34, ces espaces étant destinés à recevoir toute substance fluide qui passe entre les faces latérales de l'applicateur et les parois latérales de la cavité afin de diminuer les risques d'obstruction de l'applicateur et de blocage de sa rotation.
L'organe 12 servant à partager la chevelure af fecte la forme d'une tige allongée s'effilant en pointe et possédant une section transversale octogonale; il possède à son extrémité la plus large un embout fileté 39 destiné à se visser dans une emboiture taraudée 41 établie sur un côté de la tête, l'emboiture 41 étant placée de telle manière que l'axe de l'organe 12 se trouve dans le plan central de l'applicateur 13 et soit tangentiel par rapport à un cercle tracé autour de l'applicateur et de plus petit rayon que le rayon de l'applicateur lui-même.
La fig. 5 représente une autre tête l la que l'on peut monter sur le réservoir 10 à la place de la tête 11 et qui ressemble à tous égards à la tête 11 à l'ex ception du fait que l'applicateur 13a est plus étroit que l'applicateur 13 et que la cavité 14a est elle- même plus étroite d'une manière correspondante. On a représenté une portion 29a de la bride interrompue servant à maintenir la tête 11a en position.
Lorsqu'on désire utiliser l'appareil en question, on remplit le réservoir 10 avec la substance qu'il s'agit d'appliquer sur la chevelure, cette substance pouvant être un liquide relativement mobile, une crème assez consistante, ou bien une substance d'une consistance intermédiaire. On remplit le réservoir après avoir en levé la tête et avoir ouvert l'obturateur 23 de manière qu'il soit possible de verser la substance traitante au travers de l'ouverture 15. La tête ayant été remise en place, on passe ensuite l'appareil à de nombreuses re prises sur le cuir chevelu le long de parcours succes sifs, l'applicateur 13 étant maintenu au contact du cuir chevelu, dans une direction telle que ledit appli cateur suive le parcours de l'organe 12 formant une raie dans la chevelure.
Ledit organe 12 forme en ef fet une raie dans la chevelure, et l'applicateur 13 roule sur les cheveux dans la raie ainsi formée, en déposant la substance à appliquer sur les cheveux dans le voisinage de leurs racines.
Le débit d'écou lement de la substance est réglé principalement en déplaçant l'obturateur 23 de manière à faire varier la largeur de l'ouverture 15 ménagée dans le bossage, mais il existe encore une autre possibilité de réglage par le déplacement de la plaque 27 permettant de faire varier la largeur de l'ouverture 25 ménagée dans la paroi du réservoir et de régler ainsi la rentrée d'air dans le réservoir; il convient d'ouvrir plus largement l'ouverture 25 lorsqu'on on utilise une substance pos sédant une consistance plus épaisse.
Les autres parties de l'appareil, aussi bien que le réservoir, sont de préférence réalisées en une matière thermoplastique transparente.
La fig. 6 représente un autre appareil établi se lon une variante de réalisation de l'invention, l'obtu rateur réglant le débit de la substance fluide admise à l'applicateur étant cette fois monté dans la tête de l'appareil, et aucune disposition n'étant prévue pour une admission d'air dans le réservoir.
Le réservoir 42 comporte un col fileté 43; un passage 44 ménagé dans la tête 45 est taraudé à son extrémité extérieure pour se visser sur le filetage du col du réservoir. Un obturateur 46 coulisse dans une fente en arc de cercle 47 ménagée dans la tête 45 de manière à intersecter le passage 44; une saillie radiale 48 prévue sur l'extrémité extérieure de l'obturateur 46 permet de le faire coulisser aisément pour ouvrir et fermer le passage 44.
Il est possible de dégager complètement l'obturateur 46 en l'enlevant de la fente 47 lorsque la tête 45 est détachée du réservoir 42, mais lorsque la tête est montée sur le réservoir le déplacement de l'obturateur est limité par le col 43 à une course suffisante pour ouvrir et fermer le pas sage 44. Un applicateur rotatif 49 en forme de roue est monté dans la tête 45 sensiblement de la même manière que l'applicateur du mode de réalisation précédemment décrit et un organe 51 pour former une raie dans la chevelure est fixé d'une manière amovible à la tête de l'appareil grâce à un agence ment analogue à celui déjà décrit, mais cette fois son axe passe au travers de la tête de l'appareil en ar rière de l'applicateur.
Il est facile de se rendre compte du fait que l'ap pareil que représente la fig. 6 s'utilise de la même manière que l'appareil décrit en se référant aux fig. 1 à 4.
La roue de l'applicateur peut comporter sur sa périphérie des saillies coniques ou d'autre forme, ou bien elle peut comporter des cavités au lieu de sail lies. A titre de variante, la périphérie dudit applica teur peut être constituée par une bande plate en une substance absorbante ou spongieuse.
On remarquera que l'appareil en question peut être démonté facilement en vue de son nettoyage par élimination des dépôts constitués par les restes de substances utilisées; la transparence des différentes pièces de l'appareil permet de vérifier facilement qu'un tel nettoyage a été correctement réalisé.

The adjustable device for regulating the flow rate preferably takes the form of a movable shutter in guides so as to more or less completely obstruct the passage.
The shutter can be in the form of an arc of a circle and it can move in a slot in the form of an arc of a circle intersecting the passage.
The applicator is preferably mounted in a head which is itself removably mounted on a reservoir, and the shutter may be mounted on the reservoir or on the head.
Means may be provided for admitting air at a variable rate into the reservoir in order to replace therein the fluid substance flowing by the applicator, in order to vary the degree of freedom of such a flow.
The appended drawing shows by way of example two embodiments of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.

The apparatus shown in Figs. 1 to 4 comprises a reservoir 10, a head 11 and a member 12 for parting the hair, an applicator 13 in the form of a wheel mounted so as to be able to rotate in a cavity 14 formed in the head 11 while having part of its periphery projecting out of said cavity and a passage or opening 15 in the wall of the reservoir 10 to communicate the cavity 14 with the interior of this reservoir.
The reservoir 10 is preferably made by molding a transparent synthetic thermoplastic material and has a generally spherical shape as shown, but it has a cylindrical outer surface 16 extending from both sides of the median plane along which has been made. the section shown in FIG. 3, so as to form a zo not extending around the reservoir. A hollow boss 17 projecting outwardly is formed on the tank, the axis of this boss being in the aforementioned median plane, and the tank is provided with four legs 18 arranged so that it can rest. on a horizontal surface so that the boss 17 rises vertically from bottom to top.
The part of the wall of the tank 10 comprising the cylindrical surface 16 is thickened at 21, and in the thickened portion is formed a slot 22, of rectangular cross section and following the curvature of the surface 16, the slot 22 intersecting the opening or passage 15 and being wider than said opening.
A shutter 23 in the form of an arc of a circle is slidably mounted in the slot, one end of the shutter protruding out of the slot on the outside of the tank between two of the feet 18 and having a ridged projection 2.4. giving a grip to the thumb and thanks to which it is possible to make the neck smooth the shutter 23 in both directions along the slot 22 to open and close the opening 15.
An opening 25 is formed in the portion of the wall of the tank comprising the cylindrical surface 16 at a point situated between the other two feet 18, and two guides 26 having in cross section an L-shaped profile and which are curved in circular arc support a plate 27 by allowing it to slide circumferentially along said surface 16 to more or less close said opening 25, the plate 27 comprising a ridged projection 28 giving a grip to a finger to facilitate its handling The head 11 is shaped so as to fit into the hollow boss 17 and comprises an interrupted flange 29,
the wall of the boss 17 being cut out at 31 to allow the flange portions 29 to move axially in the boss and being grooved at 32 between the portions cut out at 31, the flange portions 29 entering the groove 32 when making turn the head after having inserted it into the boss to achieve a bayonet-type locking between the head 11 and the reservoir 10. A flange 33 provided on the head 11 rests on the upper end of the boss 17. The cavity 14 provided in the head 11 has a substantially rectangular cross section and extends to an opening pierced in the outer end of said head, the walls of the cavity converging towards this latter opening.
The applicator 13 is mounted on an axis 34 extending transversely with respect to the cavity 14, the side walls of the applicator converging to conform to the profile of the side walls of the cavity, and the end walls of the following cavity significantly the peripheral curvature of the applicator. The peripheral surface of the applicator comprises a groove 36 with a cross section in the form of an arc of a circle in which transverse ribs 37 are formed giving the groove 36 a surface which is not smooth.
The lateral faces of the applicator 13 comprise circumferential ribs 38 which allow spaces to remain between said lateral faces of the applicator and the lateral walls of the cavity of the head around the axis 34, these spaces being intended in receiving any fluid substance which passes between the side faces of the applicator and the side walls of the cavity in order to reduce the risks of the applicator being blocked and its rotation blocked.
The hair partition member 12 takes the form of an elongated rod tapering to a point and having an octagonal cross section; it has at its widest end a threaded end 39 intended to be screwed into a threaded socket 41 established on one side of the head, the socket 41 being placed such that the axis of the member 12 is in the central plane of the applicator 13 and is tangential relative to a circle drawn around the applicator and of smaller radius than the radius of the applicator itself.
Fig. 5 shows another head 11a which can be mounted on reservoir 10 in place of head 11 and which in all respects resembles head 11 with the exception that the applicator 13a is narrower than the applicator 13 and that the cavity 14a is itself correspondingly narrower. There is shown a portion 29a of the interrupted flange serving to hold the head 11a in position.
When it is desired to use the device in question, the reservoir 10 is filled with the substance to be applied to the hair, this substance possibly being a relatively mobile liquid, a fairly consistent cream, or else a substance. of an intermediate consistency. The reservoir is filled after having raised the head and having opened the shutter 23 so that it is possible to pour the treating substance through the opening 15. The head having been put back in place, we then pass the apparatus repeatedly taken on the scalp along successive paths, the applicator 13 being maintained in contact with the scalp, in a direction such that said appli cator follows the path of the organ 12 forming a line in the hair.
Said member 12 in fact forms a parting in the hair, and the applicator 13 rolls over the hair in the part thus formed, depositing the substance to be applied to the hair in the vicinity of their roots.
The flow rate of the substance is regulated mainly by moving the shutter 23 so as to vary the width of the opening 15 in the boss, but there is still another possibility of adjustment by the displacement of the plate. 27 making it possible to vary the width of the opening 25 formed in the wall of the reservoir and thus to adjust the re-entry of air into the reservoir; the opening 25 should be opened wider when a substance having a thicker consistency is used.
The other parts of the apparatus, as well as the reservoir, are preferably made of a transparent thermoplastic material.
Fig. 6 shows another apparatus established according to a variant embodiment of the invention, the shutter regulating the flow rate of the fluid substance admitted to the applicator being this time mounted in the head of the apparatus, and no arrangement is made. being provided for an air intake in the tank.
The reservoir 42 has a threaded neck 43; a passage 44 formed in the head 45 is threaded at its outer end to be screwed onto the thread of the neck of the reservoir. A shutter 46 slides in a circular arc slot 47 formed in the head 45 so as to intersect the passage 44; a radial projection 48 provided on the outer end of the shutter 46 allows it to slide easily to open and close the passage 44.
It is possible to completely disengage the shutter 46 by removing it from the slot 47 when the head 45 is detached from the reservoir 42, but when the head is mounted on the reservoir the movement of the shutter is limited by the neck 43 to a sufficient stroke to open and close the wise pitch 44. A rotary applicator 49 in the form of a wheel is mounted in the head 45 substantially in the same manner as the applicator of the embodiment described above and a member 51 for forming a stripe in the hair is fixed in a removable manner to the head of the device by means of an arrangement similar to that already described, but this time its axis passes through the head of the device behind the applicator.
It is easy to see from the fact that the apparatus represented in FIG. 6 is used in the same way as the apparatus described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4.
The applicator wheel may have conical or other shaped protrusions on its periphery, or it may have cavities instead of protrusions. As a variant, the periphery of said applicator may consist of a flat strip made of an absorbent or spongy substance.
It will be noted that the apparatus in question can be easily disassembled for the purpose of cleaning it by removing the deposits formed by the remains of the substances used; the transparency of the different parts of the device makes it easy to verify that such cleaning has been carried out correctly.
