Device for remote monitoring of the liquid level in a container
In monitoring devices for liquid levels, in which the container and monitoring device are connected by pipelines, it is desirable to be able to control all processes, namely normal consumption and the respective liquid level, but also non-intended and overflow losses. Various devices which are equipped with acoustic or optical signals are known for carrying out these controls. These devices are usually only suitable for monitoring individual processes, such as B. to control the liquid level, with mostly only a rough display. Special devices are required to register overflow losses and the like.
The invention relates to a device for remote monitoring of the liquid level in a container by displaying the contents of the container on a scale and is characterized in that the chamber connected to the container to be monitored by a pipeline and receiving a measuring liquid is arranged in a housing which an indicator chamber connected to the chamber with a compensation chamber, one wall of which is designed to be movable and provided with temperature-sensitive means, as well as organs for a loss and overflow indicator, which are also connected to the container by pipelines.
In a preferred embodiment, the movably designed wall of the compensation chamber opposite the dial is connected to temperature-sensitive bimetal rods; Furthermore, the wall of the chamber for the measuring liquid can be provided with an electrical heating device. The scale arranged on the translucent dial is expediently designed as a rising zigzag line with advantageously logarithmic graduation.
For the loss indication - be it as an unintended loss or overflow loss - special connecting lines are advantageously provided which are connected to membrane-controlled signaling devices, whereby provision is made that normal consumption, e.g. B. when operating an oil burner, is not displayed by these signaling devices.
To monitor the degree of filling, in particular against overflow losses, the corresponding connecting pipe in the container is expediently only led up to the permissible liquid level and provided with a float valve that only responds when a certain liquid level is reached.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention and its function are explained with the aid of the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a scheme for the overall arrangement.
Fig. 2 shows the device in a front view with the front removed.
FIG. 3 is a vertical section along line III-III in FIG. 2.
A display device 10 is connected by pipelines 11, 12, 13 to the container 14 receiving the liquid supply. The pipes 11 to 13 are advantageously made of copper pipes of small diameter.
The display device 10, which has a housing 15, has a translucent, advantageously circular sight glass 16 with a scale 17 and two openings 18 and 18 'for signal disks. The scale 17 rises in a zigzag line from the bottom of the indicator chamber 21 and is provided with a logarithmic graduation. This ensures that the liquid level, which is always horizontal, always intersects the scale at an angle, which makes accurate reading much easier.
The pipelines 11 to 13 coming from the container 14 are connected to the housing 15 by means of screw connections or the like. The pipeline 12, which extends down to the bottom of the container 14, opens into a chamber 19 for the measuring liquid which is arranged in the lower part of the housing 15 and which is connected to an indicator chamber 21 via a pipeline connector 20. To maintain a constant liquid temperature, the chamber 19 is provided with a heating device 22 which is arranged on the chamber wall and which is preferably controlled thermostatically.
In the indicator chamber 21, the front wall of which forms the sight glass 16, a compensation chamber 23 is arranged, one wall 24 of which is designed to be movable in the seals by means of temperature-dependent bimetal rods 26 fastened to the stationary wall 25. The compensation chamber 23 is sealed by means of elastic rubber strips or the like 27, 28. Openings 29, 30 in the seals 27 allow the indicator liquid to rise evenly in the indicator chamber 21.
In order to indicate losses that are not intended, the pipeline 13, which extends to the bottom of the container 14, is connected to a signaling device 31 arranged in the housing 15 and, via a branch pipeline 33, to a solenoid valve 34. The pipeline 11, the mouth 35 of which lies at the height of the maximum permissible liquid level in the container 14 and has a flap 36 to be actuated by means of a float, is also connected to a signaling device 32.
The signal devices 31, 32 can have membranes, for example, which set signal disks 37, 38 in motion over a transmission shaft.
Acoustic signal devices can be connected by means of mercury contacts advantageously arranged on the signal disks 37, 38.
In order to rule out that the signaling device 31, 37 even when oil is withdrawn, e.g. B. responds by an oil burner, the pipeline 13 leading from the container 14 to the signaling device 31 is interrupted within the housing 15 by a pipeline 33 whose free mouth is opened or closed by the solenoid valve 34 controlled by the oil burner of the boiler or the like. When the burner is started up, the solenoid valve 34 opens the pipeline 33, so that a pressure equalization can occur between the air present in the pipeline 13 and the outside air.
If, on the other hand, the oil burner is not switched on and the pipeline 33 is closed, a decrease in the liquid level due to a leak in the pipeline 13 caused by a leak in the container 14 results in a reduction in the air pressure prevailing in this pipeline. The membrane of the signaling device 31 then responds to this change in state and actuates the signal disk 37 or another acoustic or optical signal provided.
To interrupt the pipelines 11, 13, a momentary switch 42 provided with a valve plate 43 is provided in the housing 15, the valve plate 43 of which covers the openings of the lines 40, 41 connected to the pipelines 11, 13. When the momentary switch 42 is actuated accordingly, the openings in the pipelines 40, 41 are released so that a pressure equalization between the air in the pipelines 11, 13 and the outside air can take place.
The display of the degree of filling or the monitoring of the container content is carried out using the principle of communicating tubes or pressure equalization by changing the volume.
So each liquid level can be read through the sight glass 16 in liter figures. The compensation chamber 23 compensates for temperature fluctuations by means of the bimetal rods 26 in that the wall gives way and causes a volume change in the indicator chamber 21.
The heating device 22 is connected to a thermostat to maintain a uniform temperature of the measuring liquid. For example, colored vaseline oil is used as the measuring fluid.
The signal device 31 is used, for example, to indicate losses due to damage to the container. The display device 32 is designed as an overflow signal. The float valve 36 is used to exclude changes in the air volume in the container 14 from affecting the signaling device 32.
This has the advantage that the entire control elements are arranged in a clear form in just one device. The electrical switching and signaling devices are fed, for example, from the local power grid. If the signal device 32 is to display the overflow protection when the container is being filled, an electrical connection line can be derived between the display device 32 and the tank truck, which transmits the signal to the operating team.
The monitoring of unintended losses by the device 31 provides protection against unintentional penetration of oil into the groundwater. The subject matter of the invention therefore replaces special control devices, overflow containers or the like. The combination of all the control organs in the device simplifies the clarity and increases the possibility of control.
