Description
Butt sleeve for connecting a weir pipe to another pipe It is known to connect two plastic pipes to one another or to connect a plastic pipe to a metal pipe by means of a butt joint. It has already been proposed to produce butt sleeves for this purpose from thin-walled metal pipe and to provide them with teeth arranged in groups, which are formed in that tabs torn from the pipe are bent inward. Such teeth can lie benlinie on a screw and form parts of a thread. But they can also lie on parallel circumferential lines. In both cases, the pipes to be connected can be pushed into the socket due to the elasticity of the socket. The teeth cut into the plastic tube and prevent it from being pulled out.
If the teeth are on a helical line, a plastic tube can be unscrewed. Such butt sleeves are also suitable for connecting a plastic pipe to a metal pipe, the latter being able to be smooth or threaded.
Plastic pipes have a relatively thick pipe wall to ensure the required strength and are only bendable with a relatively large radius of curvature. In electrical installation technology, light pipes that can be bent with a small radius of curvature are required and corrugated plastic pipes are advantageously used.
Butt sleeves of the type mentioned are not suitable for connecting plastic corrugated pipes because they have too little elasticity to allow the teeth to engage in the corrugations of the plastic pipe and do not offer sufficient support against pulling out a weir pipe.
The invention relates to a butt sleeve for connecting a weir pipe with another pipe, made of a thin-walled approximately half the length with a circumferential bead provided with inwardly projecting teeth that allow the pipes to be connected to be pushed in and a Prevent undressing. The push sleeve is characterized in that slots running along surface lines form several tongues evenly distributed around the circumference and each tongue has at least one inwardly directed tooth.
Embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. In the drawing, FIG. 1 shows a cut-open push sleeve which connects two woven pipes; FIG. 2 shows a partially cut-open push sleeve which connects a corrugated pipe with a smooth pipe; Figure 3 is a side elevation of Figures 1 and 2; 4, 6, 8 different tooth shapes on a larger scale; 5, 7 and 9 the associated floor plans.
In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1, two corrugated tubes 11, 12 are connected to one another by a butt sleeve 13. The butt socket consists of a thin-walled tube which has a bead 14 in half its length up to which the tubes 11 and 12 can be pushed into the socket. In both sleeve halves there are provided slots 15 which run along surface lines and which form three tongues 16 which are evenly distributed around the circumference. Inwardly projecting teeth 17 are pressed into these tongues and engage in the corrugation of the inserted pipe.
The tongues can be of such a length that sufficient resilience is guaranteed without permanent deformation when a corrugated pipe is pushed in.
The weir tube should always be cut off in the middle of a bulge. The distance of the first tooth from the bead is chosen so that this tooth does not come to lie in the first but in the second (right half in Fig. 1) or in the third groove of the corrugated pipe (left half in Fig. 1) . The edge of the butt socket is slightly widened so that the corrugated pipe can be easily inserted into the socket.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, a corrugated pipe 11 and a smooth pipe 18 are connected to one another by a push sleeve 13. The left half of the push sleeve is designed as described for the right half of Fig. 1, while the right half 13a has three groups of teeth 19 evenly distributed around the circumference, which teeth are formed by ge that from the thin-walled tube of the push sleeve U- shaped lobes are torn and inclined inwards.
The teeth 17 attached to the tongues 16 can be formed by corrugation of the tongue 16, the tooth spacing coinciding with the groove spacing of the corrugated pipe. The two flanks of each tooth can have the same inclination to the pipe wall, as shown in FIG. 4, or the two flanks can have different inclinations in order to offer less resistance to pushing in a corrugated pipe than to pulling out.
A further asymmetrical tooth shape is illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 7. The tongue 16 is symmetrically corrugated, but on each tooth 17 a U-shaped tab 20 is torn out, which forms a sharp protruding edge 21 after the tongue is corrugated.
The tongue 16 can also have only one tooth 22, as illustrated in FIGS. 8 and 9, in that the tongue 16 is cut through at the end located against the bead 14 and the free end is bent inward.
The push sleeve can consist of thin-walled steel pipe. The weir tube can be made of metal or plastic. Smooth tubes can also be made of metal or plastic. The push sleeve can also be made from plastic tubing.
The pipe connection can be made tight if a sealing ring is inserted on the bead 14 of the push sleeve.
