Device for hermetic closing of a threaded bore by means of a threaded plug The present invention relates to a device for hermetic closing of a threaded bore by means of a threaded plug.
It has been proposed to achieve the hermetic closure of a threaded bore by means of a threaded plug, in particular in the case of a definite closure, by dimensioning the thread with respect to the normal thread, in such a way that the stopper forces into the bore and that a deformation occurs such that the closure is hermetic. However, in such arrangements, the friction occurring between the flanks of the threads is very quickly high, preventing screwing from continuing suf ficiently for a perfect seal to be achieved, or in any case for it to be. to for sure. It is created, most generally, a helical day which, even very weak, is enough for a seepage to occur.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback. By an adequate shape of the threads and of the two elements in engagement, it has been obtained that the forcing takes place during a good part of the non-contact screwing of the sides of the threads, this contact only occurring at a given moment, and then ensuring the tightness immediately, without it being necessary to continue screwing overcoming excessive friction.
This closing device is characterized by the fact that one of the two threads - of the bore and of the plug - has truncated threads, that is to say say whose top is replaced by a helical flat, while the other thread has gaps whose bottom is also formed by a helical flat, and by the fact that one of the two elements - </ B > bore and plug - is slightly truncated, all in such a way that, when the plug is screwed into the bore, and due to said taper, said flat of the threads sinks progressively in the corresponding flat of said threads, until the moment when the two elements also come into contact via the sides of their threads, thus ensuring said hermetic closure.
The drawing represents, by by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a cross section of an element belonging to a hydraulic circuit, for example for the control of a machine tool, in which a manufacturing hole is drilled for to be hermetically sealed, and fig. 2 is a section taken along the line 11-11 of FIG. 1, to enlarged scale, in which part of a closure cap has been shown in axial section.
The hydraulic circuit element shown in fig. 1 and 2 is designated by 1. R has a d6 manufacturing 2 hole, tapped at 3, intended for < B> to be hermetically sealed. The threads 4 of this tapping have their apex truncated, according to thread standards, that is to say which has a helical flat 5.
The stopper, designated by 6, made of brass, is slightly conical in shape, the opening of the cone, represented schematically by the angle a being, for example, 1.50. The gap has, in its bottom, a helical flat 7 intended to come into contact, when screwing the cap into the bore 2, with the flat 5 of the threads 4. Thanks to the conicity of the stopper 6, and to the fact that it is made of a softer material than that of the element 1, the threads 4 gradually penetrate the material of the stopper, as has been shown in dotted lines in FIG. 2. This penetration does not prevent screwing, because it only produces of low friction, the flanks of the threads not yet touching.
It is only when the penetration of the conical plug into the bore has reached a certain value that the flanks of the threads come into contact, as has been shown at 8 in fig. 2. It is then no longer necessary to continue screwing, the first contact being sufficient to ensure a hermetic closing of the helical opening 9 which remains between the sides of the threads in the front part of the cap.
As a variant, provision could be made for the case where the bore will be slightly conical, the stopper then being cylindrical, as also the case where the element presenting the bore will be made of a material softer than that of the stopper.
