Macht man z.
Compliant shaft coupling There are known flexible shaft couplings whose coupling halves are arranged in a star shape around the Wel lenachse, at least partially axially protruding arms over the associated shaft end and are connected to each other by coupling bodies arranged between these axles made of elastically deformable material.
Depending on the shape, in particular the ratio of the cross section to the length of the coupling body, the selection of the material used for them and their order with respect to the shaft axis, such couplings are more or less flexible. These shaft couplings, which are very simple in structure and therefore cheap and widely used, have certain disadvantages.
Since the coupling bodies must not exceed a certain length with a given cross-section, otherwise they tend to buckle, and on the other hand a large cross-section reduces their flexibility, the known couplings provided with body made of elastically deformable material are relatively hard. A change in the flexibility of these couplings is only possible by replacing the coupling body.
Furthermore, the adjustment of the interlocking coupling arms against one another in the circumferential direction and thus also an angular adjustment of the shafts coupled to one another, which is dependent on the elastic deformability of the coupling bodies, is relatively small. With & n. Known couplings, the angle adjustment does not reach an angle of 101>. A parallel displacement of the shafts coupled to one another is also only permissible to a small extent.
One aim of the invention is to design clutches of the type described above so that they on the one hand have greater flexibility in the direction of rotation, i.e. are softer than the known couplings, and on the other hand allow the degree of flexibility to be varied within a wide range without replacing the coupling body can be set at will. This is intended to ensure that the coupling can be adapted to the torque to be transmitted within wide limits.
Another aim of the invention is to design the coupling so that the shafts connected by it can be displaced axially against each other to a much greater extent than when using conventional couplings, adjusted at an angle to each other and offset in parallel. This is particularly important for engines that are supported by vibration dampers or that are spring-mounted and that are to be coupled with rigidly mounted shafts.
The advantages mentioned are achieved in couplings with coupling bodies made of elastically deformable material arranged between the coupling arms in that, according to the invention, the coupling bodies are designed as hollow bodies filled with pressurized gas, in particular with compressed air. Such hollow bodies form spring elements between two arms of different coupling halves, which can be pressed together very easily, for example, but then with increasing difficulty. But they are also able to absorb tensile forces, provided they are firmly connected to the coupling arms.
Furthermore, because of the elastic resilience of their walls, they allow their fastening surfaces to be displaced against one another within wide limits in all directions without being destroyed or damaged in the process.
If the pressure of the gas enclosed by the coupling bodies can be adjusted, it can be achieved that the flexibility of the coupling in the direction of rotation can be adapted to the respective load conditions within wide limits. The adjustment of the gas pressure can be achieved with ver different means. So you can z. B. let the coupling arms consist of two parts which can be adjusted in the direction of rotation relative to each other, on whose surfaces facing away from each other the coupling bodies are attached.
A particularly simple adjustment of the gas pressure is obtained when the coupling bodies are connected to a nipple containing a non-return valve, via which they can be connected to a pressurized gas supply. Then the gas pressure in each coupling body - as well as z. B. set a motor vehicle tire - to the desired amount. To the gas in all coupling bodies or in a certain group of them, z. B. in the pressure-loaded with rotating shaft bodies, always keep under the same pressure, it is recommendable to connect these coupling bodies with each other through gas channels.
In this case, an automatic pressure equalization takes place within the coupling bodies connected to one another, so that the force transmitted by them to the driven shaft is always evenly distributed over all coupling arms.
In order to increase the flexibility of the coupling without the need to give the coupling bodies undesirably large dimensions, it is indicated to connect these coupling bodies individually, in groups or all together with an additional gas container. In this way, the gas volume as a whole can be substantially increased and the clutch can thus be made particularly soft. The or the additional gas chambers can consist of hollow spaces that are housed within the rigid hitch be parts. This is all the more possible since experience has shown that even relatively small changes in the gas volume are sufficient to decisively influence the flexibility of the coupling.
As a result, the coupling is not more extensive in its dimensions and not significantly more complicated in structure than the known couplings. If, in a coupling, there are hollow spaces within rigid coupling points or feed ducts to the coupling bodies can be accommodated in them, it is recommended that the connection means for the compressed gas feed not be on the coupling bodies themselves, but on the rigid coupling points before watching.
Another possibility of changing the characteristics of the coupling is obtained by installing valves with an adjustable passage in the connecting lines between the coupling bodies and the additional cavities. By interrupting the passage or setting it to a certain level, the displacement of air from the hollow bodies into the additional spaces and vice versa, depending on the load on the driven and driving coupling halves, can be varied within wide limits. Do you z.
If, for example, the passages between which the coupling bodies absorb the rotational load and the cavities are very narrow, the coupling is initially hard and gradually becomes softer, while with sufficiently wide passages the coupling is initially soft and then gradually becomes harder. In the drawing, an embodiment of the coupling forming the subject of the invention is shown.
C FIG. 1 shows a section along the axis of two shafts connected to one another by a coupling designed according to the invention; Fig. 2 shows a front view of the coupling.
The shafts 1 and 2 coupled to one another carry each one of the coupling halves 3 and 4, which are identical to one another in the example shown. These coupling halves are wedged with an annular part 5 or 6 onto the ends of shafts 1 and 2, respectively. They carry radially outwardly directed and axially over the end of the associated shaft 1 or 2 projecting arms 7 or 8 one below the other through hollow coupling body 9 made of elastic material, e.g. B. rubber, are connected.
For the sake of clarity, the cavity enclosed by the coupling bodies was indicated in FIG. 2 only for one of the coupling bodies. The ends facing the arms 7 and 8 , which are open and provided with external flanges, are capped with the help of rings 12 that overlap the flanges which are screwed to arms 7 and 8 , pressure-tight and firmly connected to their outer surfaces. The arms 7 and 8 are designed to be hollow in the example shown, and their cavities are connected to the hollow coupling bodies by channels 10 .
On the coupling arms 7 and 8 there are nipples 11 equipped with each a non-return valve as connection means for a (not shown) pressure gas line </ B> provided, via the into the cavities in the arms 7 or 8 and from these into the coupling body 9 compressed air or another gas can be introduced. A valve with an adjustable passage can be built into the connecting channels 10 between the cavities of the coupling arms 7, 8 and the coupling bodies 9.
