Verfahren zur Herstellung saurer Monoazofarbstoffe Gegenstand des Patentes Nr. 354873 ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung saurer Monoazofarbstoffe der Formel
EMI0001.0003
EMI0001.0020
mit 1 Mol einer Azokomponente der Formel
EMI0001.0023
in saurem Medium kuppelt.
Process for the preparation of acidic monoazo dyes The subject of patent no. 354873 is a process for the preparation of acidic monoazo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0003
wherein x is hydrogen, chlorine, methyl, methoxy or methylsulfonyl, R1 is an optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, aryl or aryloxy radical,
R2 is the hydroxy or an optionally substituted amino group and R3 is hydrogen or a substituted phenyl radical, which is characterized in that 1 mol of the diazo compound is obtained from an amine of the formula
EMI0001.0020
with 1 mole of an azo component of the formula
EMI0001.0023
couples in acidic medium.
It has now been found that valuable acidic monoazo dyes are also obtained if one uses acidic monoazo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0026
where R2 is the hydroxyl or an optionally substituted amino group and R3 is hydrogen or a substituted phenyl radical, or in derivatives of compounds in which the nucleus I carries further substituents,
the acetyl group is split off by hydrolysis and the free amino group formed with a functional derivative of a monocarboxylic acid of the formula R1 - COOH where R1 is an optionally substituted alkyl radical with at least 2 carbon atoms or an optionally substituted alkoxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkoxy ,
Aryl or aryloxy radical means closed.
The new acidic monoazo dyes dye wool, silk, leather and synthetic polyamide fibers from neutral to slightly acidic baths in pure yellow to blue-tinged red tones. The dyeings with the new dyes consistently show very good lightfastness and, depending on the size of the molecular weight of the dye used, good to very good wet fastness properties. Those monoazo dyes
which contain an azo component with a closed sulfonic acid group and thus only a single solubilizing sulfonic acid group in the diazo component, naturally give particularly good results in the wash, sweat and milled fastness test.
Suitable acylating agents are, for example, the chlorides of propionic acid, butyric acid, caprylic acid, 2-ethylcaproic acid, capric acid, lauric acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, butylglycoloxyacetic acid, phenoxy- and cresoxyacetic acid, benzoic acid, mono- and dichlorobenzoic acids,
4-tert-butylbenzoic acid or cyclohexylcarboxylic acid. Particularly valuable acylating agents are the chloroformic acid esters of various aliphatic and aromatic alcohols, such as butyl, hexyl, octyl, decyl, lauryl or cetyl alcohol, as well as phenyl, benzyl or cyclohexyl chloroformate,
or the chloroformic acid ester of 4-octyl- or 4-cyclohexyl-1-hydroxy-benzene. Very excellent acylating agents are the chloroformic acid esters of some ether alcohols such as ethylene glycol mono-ethyl, -butyl, -hexyl, -octyl or -phenyl ethers as well as diethylene glycol mono-methyl,
-butyl- or -phenyl- ethers.
In the following example, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 59.8 parts of 2-amino-4-acetylamino-benzene-l-sulfonic acid diazotized by acidic coupling with 35.7 parts of 2- (2 ', 4', 6'- Trimethylphenyl) amino-8-hydroxy-naphthaline-6-sulfonic acid, monoazo dyestuff available in the form of the disodium salt, are dissolved in 1000 parts of hot water and 100 parts of alcohol.
After 50 parts of hydrochloric acid 3011 / o have been added to the solution, the acetyl group of the monoazo dye is split off by heating to 95 for 3 hours. The hydrolyzed dye falls out completely; it is filtered off cold and then dissolved in 2000 parts of water with the addition of 10 parts of soda.
25 parts of lauryl chlorine are added dropwise to the 50% warm solution in the course of a few hours, as required. During the acylation, 10 parts of sodium bicarbonate are sprinkled into the reaction mass in small portions so that its pH is always 7.5-8. The dye that forms falls out completely; it is filtered off with suction and dried after the reaction solution has cooled.
The dried new monoazo dye is a dark red powder that dyes wool, silk and synthetic polyamide fibers from neutral to slightly acetic acid baths a full red with very good lightfastness and very good wet fastness.
If the 25 parts of lauryl chloroformate are replaced by an equivalent amount of octyl chloroformate or cetyl chloroformate, similar dyes are obtained.
