Durchtrittsmöglichkeiten in Längsrichtung.
Man lässt z.
Rillen bzw. Boh rungen in den abstützenden Metallteilen bewirkt, z. B.
Pressure pump for pumping mixtures of liquid N204, HNO3 and H20. It is known to use mixtures of liquid N204, HNO3 and H., 0 with an increase in pressure of more than 10 atmospheres, e.g. B. 50 atmospheres in a Re action room. Carrying out the pressure-increasing pumping process with a piston pump is made difficult by the extremely aggressive corroding properties of such mixtures or emulsions and the easy gasification and toxicity of nitrogen tetroxide or nitrogen dioxide.
Piston pumps have therefore been used with piston liners and pistons fitted into these and made of acid-resistant materials with different Brennell hardnesses and running without piston rings and customary seals, with a side of the piston facing away from the high pressure chamber being exposed to the outside under normal pressure sealed space was connected, with openings for the discharge of through the liner passed through conveying liquid or of components of the same. The piston diameter and the ratio of piston length to piston diameter were chosen to be as large as possible.
It has been found that the use of pistons and liners made of very hard metallic materials, such as. B. ferrosilicon with at least 15% Si or z. B. high-percentage chromium steels, which are fitted into one another with polished surfaces, have serious operational disadvantages.
The initially small amounts of penetrating liquid increase after a short running time as a result of changes in the polished surfaces to over 1 or 2% of the delivery rate, and then continue to do so.
As a result of the mentioned properties of the mixtures to be conveyed as well as the mechanical stress on the polished surfaces operated without lubricant, with low viscosity of the multiphase pumped liquid itself, the surface does not remain smooth and roughening and mechanical stress sometimes lead to scratches or penetration possibilities in the longitudinal direction. In view of the considerable pressures and the low viscosity, in particular of liquid nitrogen tetroxide, even minor damage to the surface of this type lead to an unacceptable increase in the amounts that pass through.
This causes considerable operational disadvantages, which trolls in the need for permanent Kon, in interruptions and high maintenance costs when replacing the very hard polished parts, the increased energy consumption, easy gasification, etc. exist.
It has been found that such a design of the pressure pumps can be avoided when pumping mixtures of liquid N204, HNO3 and HZ0 to high pressures, and the serious disadvantages described are thus eliminated if a pump is used with the piston and according to the invention (or the piston liner is at least partly made of polyhaloethylene with 3 or 4 fluorine atoms in the monomeric halogenoethylene or is at least partly covered with it,
so that the sealing of the parts moving against each other is carried out either between Me tall and polyhalogenethylene or between polyhalogenethylene and polyhalogenethylene. Polytetrafluoroethylene on the one hand and polytrifluoroethylene on the other hand, which are known per se as acid-resistant sealants, come into consideration as the polyhalogenethylene.
One lets z. B. a piston made of polished acid solid metals z. B. made of chrome nickel steel, chrome steel or ferrosilicon or tantalum or other acid-proof metals in a liner made of polytetrafluoroethylene. Conversely, a metallic liner and a piston made of polytetrafluoroethylene can be used. It is not necessary for the liner or piston to be made entirely of this plastic; instead, metal parts can be used that are clad or covered with it.
While no plastic has so far been able to meet these unusual requirements, and other plastics designated as acid-resistant fail for a variety of reasons, it has surprisingly been found that with the specified polyhalogen ethylenes, a seal and durability that is superior to the known methods, while reducing the Manufacture and maintenance costs of the pumps is achievable. The deformability has surprisingly not had a disadvantageous effect, but leads in the training described below to a particularly good concern of the sealing surfaces.
This behavior under the at the same time extremely corrosive stress from mixtures of N., 04, HN03 and H, 0, high pressures and mechanical demands on the piston movement could not be foreseen, and the new design of the pumps leads to considerable technical progress due to the fact that a sucking one hard, polished metal parts fit into one another and the associated inconveniences are eliminated. You can leave a gap between the piston and the liner so that metal parts do not touch or
can eat against each other, with the single or repeated interruption of the gap space by polyhaloethylene in the form of cladding conditions, cuffs, piston rings or the like is taken over. One still has the well-known advantage of low friction between metal and polyhaloethylene. If the moving parts are formed on the other side with surfaces made of polyhalogenethylene, the known fact is for this special purpose, in which lubrication should be omitted, that z.
B. Polytetrafluoräthylen against Polytetrafluoräthy- len still has significantly lower friction, used for a further previously unused alleviation of this difficult technical pumping process.
You can seal parts made of Polyhalogenäthylenes, for. B. cuffs or the like, so let in the metal parts of the piston and / or the liners and / or the piston rods or support parts of the post-formed metal parts that cantilevered surfaces or abutting edges made of polyhalogenous are practically omitted, while the gap to be sealed between Kol ben and cylinder is interrupted one or more times by the sealing parts made of polyhalogenethylene.
These gap spaces are preferably less than 2 mm, expediently less than 1 mm, and in particular less than 0.5 mm wide, namely everywhere, or at least at the points interrupted by the sealing parts made of polyethylene. Sharp metal edges in contact with the sealant can be avoided in the bracing.
Sealing parts which are embedded in the metal parts or which are supported by them and are made of polyethylene, e.g. B. Man cuffs or the like, which are sealingly pressed by the pressure side prevailing liquid pressure to the gegenlie ing running surface, z. B. Piston sleeves on the liners. This is done by the action of the hydraulic fluid behind the sealing parts, e.g. B. for piston sleeves on the piston side. The access of the hydraulic fluid is in particular caused by recesses or grooves or bores in the supporting metal parts, eg. B.
with supported piston cuffs through grooves in the supporting metal parts.
The Polyhalogenäthylen are pure or with additives such. B. fillers used. The properties can be influenced by additives, e.g. B. reduce the friction or increase the shelf life with fillers or binders. Polytetrafluoroethylene has proven particularly useful as polyhalogenethylene. B. under the designation Teflon (registered trademark) for seals of all kinds with specific weights of 2.1 to 2.3 is known per se. As the friction-reducing additive, for. B.
Graphite can be used. Other finely divided non-metallic or metallic acid-resistant additives can also be used.
In these pumps, too, seals with sol chem polyhalogenethylene can be used with particular advantages for the implementation of the piston rod. This makes it possible to make this seal against operating pressure so that you no longer have to rely on a pressure-relieved space before the implementation of the piston rod. The simple training double we kender piston is facilitated.
Of course, between the piston and the outward seal of its piston rod, in a manner known per se, an outwardly sealed space under low or normal pressure can be provided, from which conveyed liquid that has passed through the liner is discharged. In the case of double-acting pumps, such a pressure-relieved space can also be connected to the first passage of the piston rod, from which the piston rod or a second sealed passage emerges to the outside.
Such a space can be provided in a known manner with separate openings for the discharge of the liquid and gasified nitrogen oxides. A connected line is also sufficient.
Using the pumps according to the invention, the specified mixtures can be processed continuously at will at high pressures with reduced production and maintenance costs and reduced energy requirements, e.g. B. with oxygen to highly concentrated nitric acid with contents between 98 and 100 wt.% HN03.
Example Two three-piston pumps which, at 60 revolutions / minute, conveyed around 6 m3 / h of a mixture of liquid N204, HNO3 and (H20 to 52 atmospheres) used to produce 99% nitric acid,
were equipped with pistons and liners made of ferrosilicon, which are sucked into one another and polished with 0.01 mm clearance. The return flow rates between the piston and the liner amounted to 1 to 2% of the intake volume after 150 operating hours and 3 to 4% after 2000 operating hours, and continued to rise.
with about 511 / o penetration being achieved after just 2600 operating hours. This can only be remedied by replacing a piston with a liner.
Unpolished pistons made of acid-proof steel with a clearance of between 0.2 and 0.3 mm between metallic piston parts and liners were installed in the same pumps in such a way that the metals were no longer in contact.
The seal was made by two piston collars made of polytetrafluoroethylene attached one behind the other to each piston. After 150 hours of operation in the area, the return quantities were below 0.1% of the intake quantities, e. B. at 0.02 or 0.060 / 0. After 150 hours of operation, the return flow was one to two orders of magnitude less than with the known design of these pumps.
Even after 300 hours of operation, no higher return was found. The return remains low. The piston and liner are no longer replaced, since the replacement of the piston sleeves is sufficient to reduce excessively high return flow to the area below 0.1% of the intake volume.
Another pressure pump used pistons in which the pressure fluid acted through recesses in the metal parts of the piston supporting the sleeves in such a way that the lips of the sleeves were pressed against the liner by the fluid pressure. The reflux was practically eliminated after 150 and 300 hours of operation or remained at 0.01% of the amount sucked off and below. Even after 600 hours of operation nothing had changed.
