Pour mettre l'appareil en marche, il faut amener momentanément du gaz dans le caisson 2, par exem ple en ouvrant le clapet 4 à l'encontre du ressort 5 par le moyen d'un bouton extérieur. On allume le gaz qui filtre à travers la couche catalysante 1 ;
Fuel gas heating apparatus The object of the invention is a fuel gas heating apparatus with an air and gas mixer with nozzle and diffuser, forming a suction tube for ambient air, in the manner known in Bunsen burners.
In appliances of the kind in question, if for some reason the free flow of the mixture of air and gas to the burner is obstructed (for example by the obstruction of a burner), the gas continues to flow out. the mixer nozzle,
flows back through the air intake passages thereof and spreads into the atmosphere, which obviously constitutes a danger.
The apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a non-return valve, arranged on the air inlet pipe of the mixer, allows both the entry of air under the effect of gas suction, but on the contrary preventing the gas from escaping to the outside through the air inlet passages in the event of an obstruction of the flow of the mixture to the burner.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of a heating apparatus according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a general section of the gaseous fuel catalysis heater of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a detailed sectional view of the mixer of this apparatus, the parts being shown in the rest position.
Fig. 3 reproduces FIG. 2, but showing the parts in the operating position. The apparatus shown in fig. 1 comprises a suitably reinforced catalyst layer 1, arranged so as to constitute the flat cover of a box 2. Under the box 2 is arranged a born core chamber 3, the connection between the box 2 and the chamber 3 being made by an orifice drilled in the bottom of the box, which orifice is closed at rest by a valve 4 returned to the closed position by a slight spring 5.
The box 1 contains, on the other hand, a bimetallic strip 6, one end of which is rigidly fixed to a support 7, while the other is capable of acting on the end of the tail of the valve 4 when the bimetallic strip is heated.
The chamber 3 is supplied with a mixture of gas and air by means of a mixer 7. As shown in FIG. 2, this mixer comprises a body, to which the reference 7 in FIG. 2, and which is pierced with a convergent-divergent bore 7a suitable for forming a diffuser. The end of the body 7 corresponding to the outlet of the convergent-diverge bore 7a is threaded, as indicated at 7b,
so as to be screwed into the wall of the chamber 3, the blocking and sealing being ensured by a lock nut 8 double with an annular seal 9. Opposite the outlet 7b the body 7 receives a nozzle 10 for injecting pressurized fuel gas, this nozzle screwing into the body 7.
The air inlet to the mixer shown in fig. 2 is provided by a radial channel 7c which opens out at the entrance to the converging part of the converging-diverging 7a. This channel 7c opens into a cylindrical lateral chamber 7d provided in the lower part of the body 7. The chamber 7d contains a flexible diaphragm 11 clamped in place by a cap 12 provided with perforations 12a. The central part of the diaphragm 11 carries a slight circular cup 13 oriented upwards, that is to say towards the upper bottom of the chamber 7d.
The cup 13 and the diaphragm 11 are perforated axially, as indicated respectively at 13a and 11a. The cap 12 com carries on the other hand, in its central part, a frustoconical protuberance 12b, the top of which is hollowed out in the form of a crater so as to determine a relatively acute circular seat against which the lower face of the diaphragm 11 bears at the bottom. rest.
The operation is as follows: the apparatus being cold, if the gas supply is opened, it flows into chamber 3, but cannot leave it, valve 4 being closed. The pressurized gas also tends to descend through the air inlet channel 7c, but it cannot escape through the orifices 11a and 13a, the diaphragm 11 sealingly bearing against the circular edge of the frustoconical protuberance 12b and being moreover kept applied against it by the pressure of the gas itself.
To start the device, it is necessary to temporarily bring gas into the box 2, for example by opening the valve 4 against the spring 5 by means of an external button. The gas which filters through the catalyst layer 1 is ignited;
the flame obtained rapidly heats up this layer which, once brought to incandescence, ensures the phenomena of catalytic combustion while at the same time causing the extinction of the initial flame. After a very short time the bimetallic strip 6 heats up and curves downwards by opening the valve 4, or by keeping it open if it had been lowered momentarily to ensure priming.
As soon as the gas flows normally to the box 2 passing through the chamber 3, the depression caused by its passage through the convergent-divergent 7a acts on the diaphragm 11 to lift the latter and bring it to the position of FIG. 3. At this position the air can flow through the orifices 12a and through the axial orifice 11a 13a, so that the box 2 is then supplied with a mixture of air and gas suitable for ensuring catalytic combustion. perfect, even in the central area of the catalyst layer 1.
It should be noted that the cup 13 then bears against the bottom of the chamber 7d to limit the deformation imposed on the diaphragm 11.
If for some reason the catalytic combustion is stopped, the gas obviously tends to spread into the atmosphere. But almost immediately the bimetallic strip 6 cools and rises by re-closing the valve 4. As soon as the valve 4 is closed, the gas flows back into the radial channel 7c and again applies the diaphragm 11 against the protuberance 12b of the cover 12 by thus closing off the passage through the axial orifice 11a-13a. Any gas leak is thus made impossible.
In the catalytic heating apparatus with gaseous fuel comprising a feed mixer with nozzle and diffuser, which has just been described, the safety against the extinction of catalytic combustion is ensured by a bimetal device. and a shut-off valve at the inlet of the box, in the same way as in catalytic devices not comprising a feed mixer, without the presence of this mixer risking gas leaks when closing valve.
The invention is not limited to fuel gas heaters in which the combustion is carried out catalytically, but encompasses all other types of fuel gas heaters comprising an air and gas mixer. of the nozzle and diffuser type.
