Dazu bringt man z.
Aluminum-containing explosive mixture and method for producing the same The increase in the explosive and incendiary effect of explosives by adding aluminum grit unfolds only incompletely in the known explosive-aluminum mixtures, and in particular the explosiveness of such mixtures falls sharply with increasing aluminum content. In order to suppress these undesirable properties, explosives of higher explosive and also oxygen carriers have been added to the original explosives-aluminum mixture. However, the expected effects were not achieved.
The invention relates to such an aluminum-containing explosive mixture, which has a main explosive, aluminum grit and an additional explosive that is present in the mixture in a smaller amount than the main explosive and is more explosive than the latter, and achieves a substantial increase in the destruction and fire effects Such explosive mixtures in that the more highly explosive additional explosive has an adhesive coating of aluminum on the surface of its particles (e.g. grains).
This aluminum coating is preferably produced in that the explosive to be coated with the aluminum is softened on the surfaces of its particles by a suitable swelling agent or solvent, treated in this state with finely divided aluminum and then dried. These measures result in an unpredictable increase in the effectiveness of the explosive-aluminum mixture, confirmed in long series of tests, with the slightest addition of highly explosive explosives, and at the same time enable a considerable increase in the previously customary addition of aluminum grit.
The effect is presumably based on the fact that the aluminum coating on the surfaces of the particles of the high-explosive acts as an ideal moderator, as it burns immediately when it detonates, with oxygen being removed from the high-explosive and its explosive reduced, but at the same time There is an increase in energy through the combustion of the aluminum coating. This combustion of the aluminum coating forms finely distributed, very intense heat sources that increase the reactivity of the entire explosives-aluminum mixture and thus significantly increase the force of the explosion and the effects of destruction and fire.
<I> Example </I> An example embodiment of the mixture according to the invention is produced by adding a mixture of group I, which is an aluminum-containing mixture with trinitrotoluene as the main explosive, to which group 1I form the more explosive hexogen than Additional explosive with an adhesive coating of aluminum on the surface of its particles (grains).

12.6 <SEP> g <SEP> hexogen, <SEP> coated <SEP> with
<tb> 2.4g <SEP> aluminum. First, the more highly explosive additional explosive hexogen of group II is coated with the aluminum. One brings z. B. put 84 g of hexogen crystals in an Erlenmeyer flask and pour acetone over them until the liquid is about 10 mm above the hexogen.
Since hexogen is only slightly soluble in acetone, the saturation of the acetone with hexogen is soon reached and the almost saturated acetone-hexogen solution only softens the surfaces of the hexogen crystals. It is therefore advisable to proceed in such a way that an almost saturated acetone-hexogen solution is first prepared and the weighed hexogen crystals are poured over it as a plasticizer or swelling agent. Then 16 g of the finest aluminum flakes are poured into the flask and poured for about 10 minutes.
The supernatant liquid, which now still contains hexogen in solution and parts of the aluminum flakes, is decanted off. The aluminum flakes have now largely settled on the soft surfaces of the hexogen crystals and, after drying, form the aluminum coating on the hexogen particles.
The hexogen treated in this way, now coated with aluminum, is added to the group I explosive mixture in the mixing device and mixed with it. After the excess solvent has been suctioned off and the entire mixture has been appropriately pre-dried, it can be mechanically granulated and then dried in vacuo at around 50.degree.
