Curtain with hanging loops made from the curtain fabric and a method for producing the same The subject matter of the patent is a curtain with hanging loops made from the curtain fabric. In such curtains can on the curtain sewn on fixed hanging parts, z. B. Rings, which are a hindrance when washing and ironing and also tear off easily, are dispensed with. In known curtains of the type, the hanging loops are sewn to the corresponding edge of the curtain. On the other hand, the curtain according to the invention is characterized in that the loops are folded and sewn fabric parts of the hanging edge of the curtain, formed by edge cutouts.
It is particularly advantageous to design this curtain in such a way that two layers of fabric lie on top of one another at least in the upper edge area and at the loops. This example can be improved by arranging a decorative seam on the upper edge of the curtain but below the loops, which reinforces the fabric and to which the loops can be sewn.
The subject of the patent is also a method for producing an embroidered curtain according to the invention. According to the method according to the invention, the procedure is such that at least those pieces of fabric which form the border of the curtain and the loops are embroidered in the same process and only then cut and sewn.
In the figures of the accompanying drawings, an embodiment of the subject invention is shown in example. It shows: Fig. 1 a part of a curtain suspended by means of its suspension, Fig. 2 the same curtain during the manufac- turing process, embroidered, but not yet to be cut and not sewn together, and Fig. 3 part of the same curtain in a perspective view and on a larger scale.
During production, a strip of fabric 1 of the same width as the piece of fabric 2 is first attached to the piece 2 by means of an ornamental seam 3 made in a cross stitch. This strip 1 has a height h which is dimensioned so that there is space in it for the extended length of the loop. Since the loop is to be sewn on at seam 3 afterwards, the stretched loop length is twice the loop height plus the length of the overlap.
If the pieces of fabric 1 and 2 are united by the seam 3, which represents both a decorative and a fastening seam, then the edging seams 4 and decorative seams 5 are embroidered. The edging seams are made with a double chain stitch, the decorative seams with a single chain stitch. These seams are embroidered, for example, on a Cornely brand embroidery machine, where the embroiderer guides the embroidery needle by hand along a pattern drawn on the fabric. This creates small inaccuracies that are similar to pure hand embroidery. In this way, any pattern can be embroidered without having to adjust the machine.
Only after the embroidery work is completely finished is the excess fabric cut off on the outside along the edging stitching. The edging seam forms an edging of the fabric and prevents it from fraying.
After cutting, all that remains is to sew the stretched loops onto the back of the curtain. For this purpose, the individual loops are sewn on their edging seams with the aid of a sewing machine that produces a zigzag seam 6 on the back of the draw seam 3. If the width of the zigzag seam 6 is chosen so that it is approximately the same width as the decorative seam 3, then this zigzag seam appears only slightly and is hardly visible when viewed superficially.
The finished curtain 8 is shown in FIG. 1 as it hangs on a rod 7.
It is clear that the pattern and its shape can also be different. The decorative and edging seams can also be made in a different type of stitch instead of chain stitch. The material from which the curtains are made can consist of natural fibers such as cotton and linen as well as artificial fibers such as rayon, synthetic silk, nylon and the branded products Dacron, Orion or Terrylene.
The decorative and edging seams and the sewing seams are preferably made with such a thread or yarn ago, which matches the color of the curtain fabric or contrasts with this in the desired manner.
The thread or the yarn is preferably chosen so that its light resistance, washing resistance and mechanical strength corresponds to that of the curtain fabric.
Instead of taking the upper part of the fabric twice as described, this part can also be made simple. It is just a question of mechanical strength and price.
Instead of placing two separate pieces of fabric on top of one another as described above, the double part can also be formed by folding over the upper edge portion.
