Glass support for at at least one sheet. The object of the. present invention is a glazed support for at least one sheet and intended to hold this sheet in a raised position, in which this sheet is inserted between two plates, at least one of which is transparent and in which the lower edge of this assembly formed by the two plates and the sheet is introduced into at least one groove that has a frame forming a base.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the support which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is. a front elevational view, FIG. 2 a side view. Fig. 3 is rare quickly in plan of a lower part.
A sheet 2, bearing for example a photograph, is inserted between two glass plates 3 and 4 with its face facing the front against the front face 3. The lower edge of this assembly is. introduced into a groove ô made in a wooden base 5 whose thickness is equal to two to three centimeters in its grooved part.
The front edge of the plinth is parallel to. the groove and is rounded; this rounded part is designated by 5b, while the rear of the base is designated by 5a and presents, from its rear edge 5d, an oblique upper face 5c which is substantially perpendicular to the sides 6a and 6b of the notch 6 as well as to plates 3 and 4, the whole of which has only a slight play in the groove. A wooden bar 7 forming a lifting beam is articulated by means of a pin 8 on a lever 9 itself mounted on the face 5c by means of a screw 10 around which it is free to rotate.
A recess 13 is made at the top of part 5a to allow the pin 8 to protrude under the lever 9, which carries an operating pin 11 and its movement limited in one direction by a pin 12 fixed to the base.
By this construction, the axis of rotation of the lever 9 is directed, in a plane normal to the plates 3 and 4 and to the. base of the plinth, so that it is. substantially parallel to the raised position plates. In addition, the dis position of the axes of the lever 9 and of the lifter 7 is chosen, together with the distance from the axis of the lifter to its anterior face so that this face meets the plate 4 when the plane containing the two axes forms, with the aforesaid plane normal to the plates and to the base, an angle less than that which has for tangent the coefficient of friction of the beam against the. plate 4.
This angle is designated by A. in fig. 3.
It will be understood that a clamping effect of the plates is thus obtained when the lever is operated so as to reduce this angle, the reaction experienced by the rudder not being able to make the lever move back as soon as the aforesaid angle has this value. This reaction is due to the fact that the plates, which tend to rotate around the upper edge of the sidewall 6a under the thrust of the lifter, are stopped by the stop of the plate 4 at the bottom of the sidewall 6b. The reactions of the base create virtual frictional forces ensuring that the plates are fixed in the groove.
The axis of the lever could be substantially perpendicular to the base of the base, as well as that of the lifter, without the operation being notably modified, even when the groove is inclined as in the example described. The bearing face of the lifter is preferably a little concave in the longitudinal direction so that it bears by its two ends against the plate 4.
The lever could be provided with one or two arms extending at right angles or obliquely to the arm carrying the lifting beam, starting from screw 10. The base could have a median notch defining two sections of the handle. groove, especially as the upper face of the base at the rear would be parallel _à la. base and that the axis of the lever would be vertical, so that the end of the lever could move between the two remaining sections of the thick grooved part.
