Description
Cosmetic preparation for the skin.
The present invention relates to a cosmetic preparation for the skin and to a process for manufacturing such a preparation.
Up to now, cosmetic preparations containing more than 10 / o lanolin have been emulsions, due to the fact that the solubility of lanolin in ordinary cosmetic solvents, such as refined hydrocarbons or alcohol, is extremely weak. In these emulsions, the lanolin forms a water-in-oil phase. A sticky character which is characteristic of these preparations is regularly observed in use.
The present invention proposes to remedy this drawback. Its object is a cosmetic preparation for the skin, in the form of a homogeneous and stable solution, characterized in that it contains 15 to iJO! n by weight of lanolin dissolved in isopropyl palmitate.
A subject of the invention is also a process for preparing a cosmetic solution as defined above, characterized in that the lanolin is dissolved in isopropyl palmitate at a temperature of approximately 50 "C, and the mixture is cooled. quickly up to about 30 C.
Isopropyl palmitate is a solvent for lanolin, with which it forms a substantially transparent liquid.
To this solution, one can add a small amount of eireux product (ester or alcohol), such as spermaceti or cetyl alcohol, in order to increase its viscosity.
The quantity of product eirewit not exceed 2 / o. Another 10 to 15% of a refined mineral oil of cosmetic grade can then be added.
A preparation without the desired product contains, for example, 35 parts of lanolin and: 65 parts of isopropyl palmitate, by weight.
A variant, with a waxy product, may contain 35 parts of lanolin, 53 parts of isopropyl palmitate, 10 parts of refined mineral oil and 2 parts of cetyl alcohol by weight.
To obtain a preparation containing mineral oil, the lanolin is dissolved, with or without eires, in isopropyl palmitate, at a temperature of 50 C. The temperature is allowed to drop to 45 C., then the liquid is added. mineral oil and the preparation is immediately cooled to 30 ° C. This temperature control and the rapid cooling that follows are essential to partially gel the solution and achieve maximum clarity.
Isopropyl palmitate has a solvent power on lanolin at normal temperature. The preparations obtained are not suspensions or mechanical mixtures but stable, substantially colloidal solutions. Their lanolin content is therefore high, for minimum viscosity, without being sticky, and they are homogeneous. They allow maximum absorption of lanolin by the skin.
