Fig. 1 zeigt das Schaltschema desselben.
Fig. 1 zeigt ein solches System.
Device for connecting sheet-shaped dielectric materials in a high-frequency capacitor field. The invention relates to a device for connecting sheet-like dielectric materials of variable total thickness in the high-frequency capacitor field with a detector which is responsive to changes in the high-frequency capacitor current.
The use of radio frequency fields for heating and continuous connection of dielectric material is known. Up to now it has been customary to change the feed speed of the material or the anode voltage of the oscillator zii in order to compensate for the fluctuations in the thickness of the zii treated material.
This can be done by hand, in which case the operator has to anticipate changes in material thickness and make the necessary changes in feed rate or tension at exactly the right time. This dependence on manual operation causes rejects and reduces the working speed. Such a setting can also be made automatically, but it is difficult to obtain a sufficient match between the first occurrence of the change in material thickness and the correct setting of the operating conditions.
In such arrangements where relays and / or motors are used. the inevitable time difference gives erroneous results. Rated self-excited oscillators are used and the anode voltage is changed to change the output power, difficulties arose due to frequency migration.
So that the same amount of heat is always generated in a certain material at a given frequency, electrode shape and feed speed per unit volume, the high-frequency current flowing through the material must be kept constant without worrying about changes in thickness.
According to the present invention, the device is characterized in that the detector is arranged and designed so that it derives a control voltage from the high-frequency current with the help of at least one rectifier, which is dependent on the thickness of the material in the capacitor and that of the high-frequency generator The voltage supplied is controlled in such a way that the strength of the high frequency current in the capacitor is kept at an at least approximately constant value.
In the figures of the accompanying drawing, eire embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown.
Fig. 1 shows the circuit diagram of the same. Fig. 2 shows the relationship between load current and thickness of the material graphically. FIGS. 3 and 5 show the connexion between material thickness and control voltage.
FIG. 4 shows the circuit diagram of a variant of the detector from FIG. 1.
In Fig. 2 the curve shows: 1 the connexion between current strength and thickness of the material to be connected for ideal conditions. It can be seen that the current is essentially constant, with the exception of very thin materials, where somewhat larger currents are necessary. This is due to the stronger cooling by the electrodes in the thinner material.
Curve B shows how the amperage normally drops when: The material strength increases, for a conventional self-excited oscillator without any automatic regulation. It can be seen that the current, if it is not regulated and is set for a certain thickness, drops so quickly that even a material that is only slightly thicker is not heated sufficiently.
In order to obtain uniform heating over a wide range of material thicknesses, a control system must be arranged that automatically: corrects the difference between curves A and B. Fig. 1 shows such a system.
This system is based on the application of the known amplifier loading effects, namely (1) the tendency of the load current to decrease when the thickness of the load and thus the resistance increases and (2) the tendency of the output voltage of the amplifier to increase if: the thickness of the load and thus the resistance increases.
In Fig. 1, the coaxial transmission line 1 is connected at the end of the load with a secondary circuit coil 2, a series coil 3, a tuning capacitor 4 and with the electrodes 5 and 6, between which the layers to be connected material 7 is passed.
The elements 2, 3 and 4 form the tuning device from the load-side end of the Vorriehtung. The electrodes 5 and 6 can either be moved up and down or can also be designed in the form of rollers to enable the material to be advanced.
A coil 8 is inductively coupled to the coil 2 and is simultaneously connected in series with a diode rectifier 9 and a potentiometer 10. In the same way, the coil 11 is coupled to the coil 3 and is connected in series with a diode rectifier. Rectifier 12 and a potentiometer 13 connected.
The potentiometers 10 and 13 are shunted by the capacitors 10e and 13 in order to create low impedance paths for the high frequency components of the rectified currents. Slidable handles 14 and 15 are connected to each other via conductor 16 and conductors 17 and 18 lead to the ends of the corresponding potentiometers 10 and 13. It is noted that the polarity of the diodes is such that the voltage between the wires 17 and 18 is equal to the difference between the sliders and the lower end of the corresponding potentiometer.
The elements just described form the detector 19, and the only output control occurring between the wires 17 and 18 runs from a negative value through zero to a positive value when the thickness of the material 7 increases, as will be explained below.
In Fig. 3, curve 10a represents the voltage change on potentiometer 10 when the thickness changes. It increases as the thickness increases and is a measure of the high frequency voltage. The curve 13a shows the change in voltage at the potentiometer 13 when the material thickness changes. It therefore decreases with increasing thickness, because it is a measure of the loading current Be, which decreases as a result of increasing thickness.
The voltage between the conductors 17 and 18 is represented by the difference between the ordinates of the two curves 10a and 13a. There is therefore a thickness at point 20 at which the output voltage is zero. In the zone N, the output voltage is negative and decreases with increasing thickness, as shown by the vertical lines. In zone P the output voltage is positive and, as shown, increases with increasing thickness.
It can be seen that the material thickness at which the output voltage is zero can be changed by shifting one or the other of the two sliding contacts 14 and 15. It is also possible to mechanically connect the conductive contacts in such a way that they are adjusted at the same time. They are usually set in such a way that they supply the control voltage zero for a medium thickness to be treated.
After this. in this way a regulating direct voltage has been obtained, which is a function of the change in load, it will be explained how this voltage can be used to set a substantially constant current in the material.
In FIG. 1, a conventional oscillator stage with a triode 21 and a coordinated grid and anode circuit is used. The oscillator stage can be switched on and off by a switch operated by the relay 21n in the cathode line of the triode 21.
The anode coil 22 of the oscillator stage is inductively coupled to the grid coil 23 of the following stage in order to create a counter clock input to the grids 24 and 25 of the double pentode 26, which works as a counter clock preamplifier. The anode coil 27 of the preamplifier stage is. inductively coupled to the grid coil 28, which is connected to the grid 29 and 30 of the two triodes 31 and 32, which are connected as push-pull force amplifiers.
The anode coil 33 of this booster is inductive with. the coil 34 which is connected to the transmitter-side end of the coaxial line 1 mentioned earlier.
The positive anode voltages are fed to the various stages via the connection points 35, 36 and 37, while the common negative connection 66 is grounded. Mer: the clamp 38 a negative grid bias is applied to the booster. A reversible screen grid voltage for the preamplifier 2'6 is obtained from the potentiometer 61, which is connected between the anode line (connection 36) and earth.
The lines 63 and 64 of the heating transformer 62 lead to the heating connections of the power amplifier tubes 29 and 30. The middle connection 65 of the secondary winding is. grounded and serves. to close the anode circuit.
As described above, the wires 17 and 18 carry a DC voltage, which increases in a positive direction when the material thickness increases. This voltage is applied between the grid 39 of the triode 40 and the sliding contact 41 of the potentiometer. A bridge rectifier 43 receives alternating current from the heating line 44 and supplies direct current to the potentiometer 42, with part of the voltage as grid bias between .dem sliding contact. 41 and the cathode 45 is located.
The cathode 45 is grounded and a cathode resistor 46 is connected to the connection terminal 47, which is connected to the negative pole of an anode voltage source, the positive pole of which is connected to the terminal 48 and thus to the anode 49. A potentiometer 50 is connected between the terminals 47 and 48, the sliding contact 51 of which is connected to the grid 52 of the pentode 53, which is connected as a triode-cathode amplifier.
The cathode of the tube 53 is earthed, and a resistor 54 is placed between this cathode and the terminal 55 which is connected to the negative pole of the anode voltage source; whose positive pole is connected to the terminal 56 a related party. A line 58 leads from the terminal 55 to the center 59 of the grid coil 23 of the preamplifier. The double cathode 60 is. grounded and you can therefore see that the output voltage: the cathode amplifier 53, which appears on the resistor 54, the grid circuit of the preamplifier is fed directly as a grid bias.
<I> The </I> mode of operation: As already mentioned, the control voltage can be set by moving the sliding contacts 14, 15 so that it becomes zero at a certain thickness of the material 7.
Assume that the voltage between conductors 17 and 18 is zero. In this case, the setting of the sliding contact 41 of the potentiometer 42 alone determines the voltage at the grid 39, which controls the anode current of the tube 40 and thus the voltage drop in the resistor 46.
The voltage impressed on the grid 52 of the cathode amplifier 53 consists of a positive component taken from the potentiometer 50 and a negative component which is equal to the voltage drop in the resistor 46. This voltage determines the value of the anode current of the cathode amplifier tube 53,
. Which in turn defines the size of the voltage drop in resistor 54. This voltage is the bias voltage on the grid of the preamplifier 26 and determines its output voltage. The sliding contacts 41 and 51 can therefore be set in such a way that the correct current flows for a given thickness and a given material, -Lun, to produce the desired heating.
If thicker material now gets between the electrodes, the control voltage will assume a positive value, as a result of which a less negative grid voltage is created on the tube 40. The anodic current of tube 40 increases and this amplifies the increase in the negative grid voltage applied to grid 52 of the cathode amplifier tube. This lowers the negative grid biasing on the grids of the preamplifier so that it provides a higher output voltage. This higher voltage increases the voltage at the power amplifier-Lind whose output voltage is also increased so that the current rises again to its initial value.
When the material becomes thinner, the reverse process takes place, since the detector reacts to both directions of the possible change in thickness. The effect is generally such that a change in the load current is counteracted by a voltage change: which is generated at the grid prestress control device, as described. This means that there is an effort to maintain a constant stress gradient in the material that is independent of changes in thickness.
It is also possible with just your. Rectifier 12 to work and to compare the voltage obtained with a constant voltage, such as with the voltage of a battery or other power source with constant voltage. Accordingly, FIG. 4 shows a detector 19a., In which the coil 8 and the rectifier tube 9 are replaced by a battery.
It can be seen that the operation is the same as has already been explained with respect to the detector 19, with the exception that instead of the increasing voltage (10a of FIG. 3) a constant voltage supplied by the battery 67 is now used. This is shown in FIG. 5 as curve 67a. The zones of the negative and positive control voltages are denoted by N 'and P, respectively, while the control voltage is zero at point 20a. A control voltage, which increases in a positive sense with increasing thickness, will also be maintained here again, as described above.
The mode of operation is otherwise the same as in connection with FIG. 1 be written.
Since no motors and relays are used for control, the time to response is only limited by the time constants of the circuits, the resulting delays are negligibly small in relation to the speed of the material feed.
Thanks to the use of an exciter stage which only needs to generate a small output power to control the preamplifier pins, it is possible to generate a very stable frequency that is practically independent of load fluctuations.
This ensures that the frequency remains within the frequency band specified for the device and that the heating effect does not change as a result of frequency fluctuations: Since the detector unit 19 in a grid circle with. works with high impedance, it does not deliver much current and can be made very small if the smallest components are used. It can therefore be arranged very close to the electrodes 5 and 6, that is to say in close proximity to the load. will.
