Method and device for producing a hem seam. The invention relates to a process for producing a hem seam for the purpose of connecting two fabric edges and a device for performing the process.
The method according to the invention consists in that, at the same time as the formation of a flat seam, thread loops are laid, which are passed around the fabric edges by needles and looped together and with the flat seam.
In the device used to carry out the method according to the invention, two other needles controlled by a common drive shaft work together with the needle used to produce the flat seam.
In the accompanying drawing, an example embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown schematically; It shows: Fig. 1 a front view of part of the device, Fig. 2 a side view thereof, Fig. 3 and 4 the fabric conveyor in side and front view, Fig. 5-10 different needle positions, Fig. 11 one with the device made herge Hem seam from above,
FIG. 12 shows the same seam seam from the side and FIG. 13 shows the sauna seam from below. A drive shaft 2, which is driven by a motor (not shown), is mounted in the frame 1 of the sewing machine. Three cam grooves 4-6 are provided in shaft 2. Furthermore, an eccentric 3 is seated on the shaft 2, on which a link 7, on which an arm 8 is arranged, can be rotated. The latter is articulated on a clamping piece 9, which is firmly verbun with an axis 10 to the. This axis carries an arm 11 to which a needle 14 is detachably attached.
In the groove 4 protrudes a pin 15 of a pivotably mounted angle lever 16, the arm 17 of the sen a needle 20 carries. In the groove 5 engages a pin 22 of a two-armed lever 24 on which a lever 25 is pivotally ge superimposed. One arm 26 of the latter carries the needle 23, while a cam 28 of the second lever arm 27 projects into a guide 29 of an angle lever 30. This lever 30 is controlled by a pin 31 engaging in the groove 6.
During the sewing process, the fabric is automatically moved further by a feeder 40, which in turn is controlled by a feed eccentric 41. The latter is connected to the transporter 40 via a sliding piece 42 hinged to the frame 1 and a rod 43. If the sliding piece goes downwards, the transporter is lowered under the material lying on the stitch plate, not shown. With the further rotation of the shaft 2, on which the eccentric 41 is seated, the conveyor moves to the right (FIG. 3) without the fabric being moved.
At this moment the needle 14 is in the lowest position. As soon as it has left the fabric in the upward gear, the eccentric 41 is turned so far that it lifts the conveyor 40. This position corresponds to that shown in FIG. The teeth of the feed dog 40 now grip into the fabric, which is moved to the left when the shaft 2 is rotated further (Fig. 3). If the needle 14 then goes down again, the above-described game is repeated.
The screw 45 allows the feed path of the conveyor and thus the stitch width to be changed.
The needles each have an eyelet near their front ends through which the threads are pulled. The needle 14 guides the thread 14a, the needle 20 the thread 20a and the needle 23 the thread 23a.
If the needle 14 goes from its uppermost position, shown in phantom in FIG. 5, down into the lowermost position, it takes the thread 14a with it. The eccentric 3 then reverses the needle 14, it goes back and forms a loop b in a known manner. The needle 20 controlled by the groove 4 (joint 6) pushes through the loop b into the position according to FIG. 7, in which the needle 14 has left the material S and the loop b has drawn closer around the needle 20.
If the needle 20 now goes back a little (Fig. 8), the thread 20a forms a loop c through which the end of the needle 23, which initially rises approximately vertically, slips. Afterwards, the needle 23 pushes itself further into the loop c (Fig. 9), while the needles 14 and 20 have receded further. As soon as the needle 23 is moved backwards, the façade 23c forms a loop d into which the needle 14 is pushed (Fig. 10).
Meanwhile, as described above, the fabric S has been moved on by the conveyor so that when the needle is inserted: 14 its thread 14a has executed a stitch e (Fig. 11) of a flat seam. If the needle 14 continues downward, the game described with reference to FIGS. 5-10 begins anew. The thread loops c and d are thus guided around the fabric edges by the needles 20 and 23 in the manner shown in FIGS. 11-13 and are looped together and with the flat seam e.
The machine described is used to set the edges of active ingredients of all kinds. Due to its simple design, it enables a continuous speed of 4000 stitches per minute.
