L'accessoire représenté est maintenu sur le plateau d'une potence de construction connue, au moyen d'une plaque 10 dans laquelle est chassé un cylindre 11, taraudé en 12 sur la plus grande partie de sa longueur et .dans le quel est introduit un bouchon 13, fileté, égale ment taraudé à, son intérieur.
Dans ce bouchon se meut le piston de cen trage 1.4. Celui-ci sort du bouchon 13 par le fond 21, traverse le fond du cylindre 11 dans un alésage 15 et dépasse ledit fond d'une hau teur 16 qui correspond à celle de la planche de pont 1 7 dans laquelle la pierre 18 doit être chassée. Le piston de centrage 14 possède une par tie plus épaisse 19 qui est appuyée par un ressort à boudin 20 contre le fond percé 21 du bouchon 13. Le ressort 20 entoure une saillie 22 qui prolonge axialement une vis 23, coaxiale audit bouchon et au cylindre 11 et qui sert à régler le ressort 20.
Chaque fois que le piston 24 de la potence non représentée pousse la pierre 18, qu'on a placée sur la pointe 25 du piston de centrage 14, dans le trou du pont 17, le piston de cen trage suit ce mouvement et s'efface progressi vement au fur et à mesure de la pénétration de la pierre à l'intérieur du trou du pont. Une fois la pierre en place, on relève le piston 24 et le pont 17 est soulevé par le ressort 20, ce qui facilite son enlèvement.
Suivant la hauteur 16 du pont ou de la platine dans lequel il s'agit de chasser les pierres, il est nécessaire d'ajuster le haut du piston de centrage pour qu'il dépasse suffi samment l'objet en travail afin de pouvoir mettre la pierre en place. Ce travail d'ajuste ment se fait ici facilement après qu'on ait dé vissé l'écrou 26 qui sert au blocage du bou chon 13 à l'intérieur du cylindre 11. En mon tant et abaissant le bouchon 13, on modifie la position de la pointe 25 du piston de cen trage relativement à la surface supérieure du cylindre pour l'ajuster au besoin du travail en cours.
