Description
Process for the preparation of a derivative of citrazinic acid. The invention relates to a method for preparing a derivative of citrazinic acid. The new compound has proven itself as such or in the form of its salts, e.g. B. Na trium salt, calcium salt, proven to be valuable for combating infectious diseases, mainly caused by cocci (especially streptococci). It is non-toxic and has a great ability to penetrate living tissue.
The process is characterized in that citrazinic acid is coupled with diazotized sulfanil-acetylamide, the 3 - (4'-sulfoacetylamidobenzolazo @ -) 2,6 - dioxy-pyridine-4-carboxylic acid being formed. To display the new connection, proceed as follows, for example:
4.2 g of p-aminobenzene sulfoacetylamide who are mixed with 5.5 cm 'of concentrated hydrochloric acid and 30 cm' of water and diazotized in the cold with a concentrated solution of 1.5 g of sodium nitrite. The diazonium solution is allowed to flow into a solution of 3.2 g of citrazinic acid and 5 g of sodium carbonate in 30 cm of water with stirring.
After some time, it is acidified and the 3- (4'-sulfoacetylamido-benzene-azo) 2,6-dioxy-pyridine-4-carboxylic acid which precipitates is suction filtered. It is conveniently cleaned using the sodium salt, which can easily be recrystallized from hot water. The new citrazinic acid derivative is yellow-orange, decomposes when heated without melting, is sparingly soluble in water, dilute acids, alcohol, acetone and benzene.
