Description

Gaiter. The present invention relates to a gaiter, characterized in that it comprises a cap intended to cover the end of the shoe and provided with a protective strip and, two extensions integral with the capu chon and intended to wrap the ankle, these extensions being provided with fasteners.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the gaiter forming the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a plan view.

Fig. 2 is a side view of the cap. Fig. 3 is a sectional view along I-I of the. fig. 1.

Fig. 4 shows this embodiment in place.

The gaiter shown comprises a capu chon 1, made of canvas, intended to cover the end of a skier's shoe, for example. As a result, a layer of air is constantly held between said hood and the end of the shoe, which isolates the latter from the snow and prevents it from condensing internally. The edge of the hood is provided with a protective strip 2 in sealskin, the bristles of which 3 can prevent snow from rising between the gaiter and the shoe; finally this skin prevents wear of the gaiter in hardened snow and on bad roads.

The sealskin strip 2 could be replaced by an artificial fabric provided with hair.

The cap 1 is integral with two protrusions 4 and 5 intended to envelop the ankle and to which are fixed attachment straps 6 and 7, 8 and 9, allowing the gaiter to be fixed; these extensions may be equal and relatively short, or alternatively only one may be relatively short, while the other is much longer and is intended to serve as a knurl strip. In the case of the gaiter shown, it is the extension 5 which is long and which consists of two parts joined by a seam 10.

For fixing the gaiter to a shoe 11, the strap 6, for example, of one of the extensions is attached to the strap 9 of the other, the remaining straps 7 and 8 being connected together. The cap 1 and the extensions 4 and 5 are preferably made of waterproofed fabric.
