Machine for grinding rolling elements with a curved generator. The present invention (inventor EG Hjärpe) relates to a grinding machine for grinding rolling elements with curved generators, for example rollers and running rings for roller or ball bearings, with a work headstock and a rotating grinding wheel and with relative oscillating and displacement movement between the work headstock and the grinding wheel . The purpose of the invention is to increase the capacity of the grinding machines of this type and thereby to allow a better utilization of the time of the worker operating the machine than previously possible.
The grinding machine according to the invention is characterized in that the work headstock carries two clamping devices, which are arranged symmetrically with respect to a plane at right angles to the axis of vibration and containing the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel, for the purpose of simultaneous machining of two work pieces by means of one and the same grinding body. Due to the fact that the work pieces are carried symmetrically in relation to the mentioned plane, they get exactly the same shape when grinding, and the work surface of the grinding wheel is at the same time worn out by wear against the work pieces to such a shape that it is longitudinally rests against the work pieces across its entire width,
which is essential to the performance and accuracy of grinding.
In the drawing, a known grinding machine and two Ausführungsbei are games of the subject invention provides Darge. Fig. 1 and 2 show schematically a horizontal respectively. a vertical projection of a grinding machine with a swingable work headstock, which, as usual, had only been provided with a clamping device for a single workpiece. These figures illustrate the principle of generating rolling elements with curved generators by grinding using a swingable work headstock. 3 and 4 schematically show two mutually perpendicular, partially vertical projections of an embodiment.
Fig. 5 shows a longitudinal section of the grinding machine illustrated schematically in Figs. 3 and 4 and Fig. 6 is a fragment of Fig. 5 with certain parts in a different position. Fig. 7 shows partially in section a vertical projection of the work headstock, seen at right angles in relation to FIG. Fig. 8 shows part of the work headstock in the horizontal th section. Fig. 9 shows a coupling scheme of the feed arrangement and a measuring arrangement for the automatic switch-off device of the feed when the workpiece has received the desired dimensions. 10 to 12 show two mutually perpendicular vertical projections and a horizontal projection of a second Ausfüh approximate form of the invention.
In all of the illustrations, the same reference designations are used for corresponding parts.
In Fig. 1 and 2 shown schematically ge grinding machine, previously known type, 1 is the grinding wheel and 2 is the work headstock in which a single workpiece, a roller 3, between a tip 4 and a drive plate 5 is clamped. The grinding wheel 1 is carried by a headstock 7 shown in Fig. 2, which is displaceable in a direction indicated by the arrow Rich for obtaining a feed movement. This headstock is provided with arrangements that are used to rotate the grinding wheel in the direction indicated by the arrow. The work spindle stock 2 is arranged to oscillate about an oscillation axis 6 and is provided with arrangements for rotating the drive plate 5 in the direction indicated by the arrow.
When the work headstock is set in motion back and forth past the grinding wheel, while both the workpiece and the grinding wheel rotate around their own axes and with mutual feed movement between the work headstock and the grinding wheel headstock, the workpiece becomes like can be seen from Fig. 1, formed into a rolling element with a curved generator.
Due to the fact that the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel and the line of contact between grinding wheel and workpiece lie in one and the same plane at right angles to the axis of oscillation, the generator, as shown in FIG. 1, has the shape of an arc with the center located on the oscillation axis.
The radius r of the circular arc becomes equal to the distance between the contact line and the axis of oscillation. During the grinding process, the grinding wheel is shaped by wear against the workpiece in such a way that its own generating point receives the: Shape of an arc with the same radius and the same center. As a result, the grinding wheel will rest against the workpiece along the entire width of its effective work surface, whereby an even and accurate grinding and a significant performance it is aimed at.
3 and 4 schematically show part of a grinding machine for the simultaneous grinding of two workpieces, which represent roller bearing rollers 3 in the embodiment shown. The work headstock 2 of the machine is arranged to swing, and the headstock carrying the grinding wheel is displaceable and carries a drive motor for the grinding wheel forming the grinding wheel in basically the same way as in the machine according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
The work headstock 2 carries two clamping devices, which are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel containing, to the vibration axis 6 perpendicular plane a - a. Due to the fact that the rollers are not placed so that their axes are in the plane a-a, their generators are not given an exact circular arc shape. This generally presupposes that a plane at right angles to the axis of oscillation, which contains the axis of rotation of the workpiece, should also contain the line of contact between workpiece and grinding wheel.
Two planes at right angles to the axis of vibration and passing through the axes of rotation of the workpieces are shown in FIG. 1 by the lines b-b and c-c. These lines go, as he can see, not through the points of contact between the grinding wheel and the work piece, which is why the above condi tion in the grinding machine shown schematically in Fig. 3 and 4 is not met. Due to the fact that the two rollers 3 are supported symmetrically with respect to the plane a-a, they are ground to exactly the same shape against each other and each produce the same shape of the working surface of the grinding wheel.
Extensive tests have shown that the deviations of the generators from the circular arc shape are extremely insignificant and have no detrimental effect on the usability of the ground rollers if the distance between planes b-b and c-c is small in relation to the diameter of the grinding wheel. The grinding wheel will rest against the rollers with their entire effective working surface, and the grinding is therefore carried out 'in an effective manner and with the desired accuracy.
Each of the clamping devices be available in the embodiment shown from a tip 4 and a propulsion plate 5 provided in line with the same, the latter being arranged to be drivable to set the workpiece 3 in rotation around its longitudinal axis.
The grinding machine shown schematically in FIGS. 3 and 4 is shown in more detail in FIG. The machine frame 9 carries, by means of tapered roller bearings 10 and 11, a bed slide 12 with a downward vertical axis which forms the axis of vibration of the work headstock. On the bed slide rests an inter mediate slide 13 which is displaceable by means of a screw 14 with a hand wheel 15 in the longitudinal direction of the machine.
The intermediate slide 13 carries the actual working spindle on a dovetail-shaped guide 16: elstock 2, which can be displaced in the transverse direction of the machine by means of actuating elements not shown. The headstock is thus both parallel and at right angles to the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel adjustable.
The vibratory movement is caused by a pulley 1; 7, which in turn is driven by a drive motor not shown. The driving force is transmitted from the pulley 17 via a crank arm 18 to a slider 19 which is slidably mounted in a groove on an arm 21 fastened by means of a nut 2.0 at the lower end of the vibration axis BE.
The belt pulley 17 is supported by a vertical axis 22! which is mounted in the machine bed 9 by means of ball bearings 23.
When the pulley 17 is set in rotation, the crank arm 18 and dual slider 19 convert this rotation into an oscillating movement of the arm 2, 1, whereby the work headstock 2 is set in a reciprocating oscillating movement, so that: the workpieces 3, be guided over the working surface of the grinding wheel and thereby obtain an approximately circular profile.
By readjusting the work headstock in the longitudinal direction of the machine by means of the hand wheel 15 can. the position: of the workpieces in relation: to the axis of oscillation varies and thus different radius of curvature which can be achieved. The grinding wheel must be readjusted in the longitudinal direction of the machine so that it comes into contact with the workpieces.
By attaching the workpieces to the opposite side of the vibration axis with respect to the center of the grinding wheel, rolling elements can be ground with generators that are curved inwards instead of outwards.
By shifting the work headstock 2 in the transverse direction of the machine on the guide 16 , the rollers can be offset parallel to the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel. In this way, the shape of the rollers can be changed as desired so that their thickest part is close to one or the other end or in between, as can be seen in the figure. When grinding inwardly curved rollers, the narrowest part of the roller can be attached in a corresponding manner in the desired position of its length.
In order to reduce the unproductive time of the worker handling the machine, the machine is equipped with an insertion device into which the worker can insert a pair of workpieces in the rest position while another pair of workpieces is being ground.
After finishing the last-mentioned pair of workpieces and removing them from the clamping devices, the insertion device is brought into the working position in which the pair of workpieces contained in the same can be grasped by the clamping devices, since the workpieces are arranged coaxially with the clamping devices. According to the exemplary embodiment shown, the introduction device consists of an arm 24 which can swing on the work headstock about an axis 26 and which carries two resilient brackets 25, the free leg ends of which are used as gripping organs for holding. the workpieces are formed.
The Einführungsvorrich device is normally held by a spring 27 in the rest position shown in Fig. 5 th, whereby the worker can insert a workpiece in each bracket, since the gripper organs are arranged away from the clamping devices. When a pair of workpieces is ground and a new pair is to be inserted, the worker swings the insertion device to the working position shown in FIG. 6. In this position, the workpieces can be gripped by the clamping devices whose tips can be moved axially.
After the workpieces have been grasped, the insertion device goes back to its position shown in FIG. 5 by the action of the spring 2 i by pivoting it about the axis 26 parallel to the axis of rotation of the grinding disk.
The construction of the work headstock is shown in detail in FIGS. 7 and 8. It generally consists of a footplate and two housings 2; 8, 2: 9 arranged on the same, of which the former forms the storage for the drive plates 5 and the latter forms the storage for the tips 4. Each drive plate 5 is supported at the end by an axle 30 which extends through and outside a bore in the housing 28 and is mounted in roller bearings 31, 31, the rollers of which bear directly against the axle.
The bore is on both sides by means of a labyrinth seal 32 BEZW. a sealing washer 3.3 sealed. On the outer end face of the housing 28, a bearing housing 34 with two in line with the bores of the housing 28 from bores is screwed tightly, which contain an adjustment and storage arrangement for the shaft 30 to a precise setting of the drive plates 5 in exactly the same plane.
When grinding who presses the tips against the workpieces .ge, and this pressure is transferred to the shaft 30. So that this pressure does not cause a displacement of the shafts 30, whereby the drive plates 5 would fry from their set position in the same plane, a strong compression spring 37 is included in the housing 34, for the purpose of exposing the shafts 30 to a steady uplifting union pressure .
Each compression spring 37 presses via an internal flange 38 on a sleeve 39 screwed into a bore in the bearing housing and on a nut 41 screwed onto the end of the shaft 30. An axial bearing 40 is provided between the spring 37 and the nut 41. By means of this spring pressure, the shaft 30 is pressed against the inwardly facing end face 4 of the sleeve 39 by means of a washer 42 and a two-row spherical ball bearing 43.
The position of this end surface determines the setting of the shaft 30 and thus also the axial setting of the drive plate 5, and this setting is changed by turning it on or off. From the screw connection of the sleeve 39 in the bearing housing 34. The drive plates can be moved independently of one another. On the outwardly facing end surface of the sleeve 39, a cover 44 is screwed tightly, which closes the nut 41 with a small gap.
A pulley 45 serving as a drive element is mounted from memory on the bearing housing 34 by means of two ball bearings 46 and equipped with an internal ring gear 47. with two on the shafts 3.0 firmly attached gears 48 is engaged. When the pulley rotates, the two shafts 30 are rotated around in the same direction and at the same speed, whereby the two workpieces are set in the same rotation. The two drive plates 5 are thus driven by the common drive member 47.
Each tip 4 is attached to one end of a rod 49 which extends 6 through a bore in the tip housing 29 and is slidably mounted in the same. On the end opposite the tip, a flange 50 is formed on each rod 49 -outside the end of the bore, against which a compression spring 51 rests to press the tip against the work piece with considerable pressure. The opposite end of the compression spring 51 rests against a washer 52a which is screwed into a hood 52 screwed tightly on the end face of the tip housing.
The United shift of the tips in the direction of the drive plates 5 to release the finish-ground workpieces is carried out by the arrangement shown in FIG. This be available from a parallel with the .Stangen 49 provided drive rod 53, which is provided with a flange 54 provided for engagement with the two flanges 50. The drive rod 53 mounted in the tip housing 19 is pressed in the direction against the tips by a compression spring 55, which is supported against a cover 56 screwed into the hood 52.
Through the drive rod 53 goes a screw 57 fastened on the same, which also goes through .den cover 5,6 and outside, the latter carries nuts 58 which act as a stop and limit the movement of the drive rod 53 to the left in FIG . The drive rod 53 is designed as a pincer in engagement with a gear 60 which is fixed on a: rotatably arranged hand lever 61, or a part of the same bil det.
By turning the hand lever 61 clockwise (Fix. 8), the drive rod 53 is shifted to the right, so that its flange 54 comes into engagement with the flanges 50 and pushes the rods to the right, with the tips out of engagement with the workpieces concerned be moved out and the latter fall out. When falling down, the workpieces are prevented by inclined protective plates 62 (fix. 5) carried by the work headstock from coming into contact with the grinding wheel and from being damaged by the same.
9 shows a coupling diagram of the measuring arrangement which automatically triggers the feed when the workpieces have been ground to a certain dimension. The measuring arrangement itself consists of a rotatable, spring-influenced measuring finger 63 which is provided with a diamond tip. Due to the symmetrical support of the workpieces in relation to plane a --- a (fix. 3) and the resulting evenness between the dimensions achieved by grinding the two workpieces, only one measuring finger needs to be provided on one of the clamping devices < B> to be.
During grinding, the measuring finger rests against the upper workpiece in the manner indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 9 and, when the workpiece has received its dimensions, swings under the action of a spring in the counterclockwise direction on the workpiece the position shown with dash-dotted lines. When new workpieces are inserted into the machine in the manner shown in connection with FIGS. 5 and 6, the upper bracket 25 presses the measuring finger down again to the position shown in FIG.
6, where he tensions the measuring finger spring, so that after the insertion device has been returned to its position shown in FIG. 5, the measuring finger will rest against the workpiece clamped at the top.
The hub part of the measuring finger carries an electrical contact pin 64 which is connected to an electrical line network. The mounting of the measuring finger, which, as can be seen from Fig. 5, is carried by the work headstock, is internally provided with a contact pin 65 in the path of the contact pin 64, so that contact between these two pins occurs when the measuring finger swings past the workpiece. The fixed contact pin 65 is connected at one end to an induction coil 66, the opposite end of which is connected to the network.
Inside the coil 66, a movable iron core 67 is seen, which is loaded in the direction out of the coil by a compression spring 68 which acts between the machine bed and a flange 69 provided on the iron core. The protruding from the coil end of the iron core is hinged to a rotatably beleaguered one-armed lifting rod 7 0, which is provided with a set 71 against which the end of a rotatably mounted two-armed lifting rod 72 rests.
This lifting rod is loaded at its opposite end by a compression spring 72a which is supported against the machine bed and tends to turn the lifting rod 72 in the clockwise direction. This rotation is normally prevented by the engagement between the end of the lifting rod 72 and the approach 71.
The lifting rod 72 is provided on its hub part with an extension 73 which is normally located at some distance from a flange 74 of a sleeve 75 which is slidable but not rotatable on a feed shaft 76 of the machine (also illustrated in FIG. 5). arranged to move the grinding wheel spindle; is. The sleeve 75 carries a ring of coupling teeth 77, seen to engage with corresponding teeth 78 of a gear 79 which is freely rotatable but not displaceable on the feed shaft 76.
The sleeve 75 is loaded in the direction of the gear 79 by a compression spring 80, which acts between tween a disc 81 firmly attached to the feed shaft and the flange 74 of the sleeve. On its end protruding outside of the machine bed 9, the feed shaft 76 carries a hand wheel 76a for manual displacement of the grinding wheel headstock 7 in the longitudinal direction of the machine.
The driving force for the advance is a gear 82 attached to the top of the vertical shaft 22 (Fig. 5) from which the driving force benrad through a gear 83, a worm 84, a screw. 85 on a shaft 86 parallel to the feed shaft, as well as through gears 87, 88, 89, 90, 91 to the gear 79 running freely on the feed shaft. When the feed is engaged, be see the clutch teeth 77, 78 in engagement, and here the driving force is further via the sleeve 75 to the feed shaft 76, as well as a worm 92, a screw gear 93, a vertical shaft 94 (Fig.
5) to a toothed wheel 95 which is in engagement with a toothed rack 96 fixedly arranged on the grinding wheel spindle stoek 7.
The one in Fib. The itegulating device shown in FIG. 9 works in the following way: During the grinding of two work pieces, the measuring finger 63 assumes the position shown with broken lines and rests against the upper workpiece 3 with spring pressure. Here, the contact 64, 65 is canceled and the coil 66 is de-energized. The iron core 67 is kept pressed out and the extension 71 of the lifting rod 70 prevents rotation of the lifting rod 72.
The clutch 77, 78 is engaged and transfers the driving force to the headstock 7 of the grinding wheel, which is thereby continuously advanced against the workpieces 3. When the upper workpiece has been ground to the desired dimension, the measuring finger swings by the spring force to the position indicated by dash-dotted lines, the contact 64, 65 being closed and the coil 66 current receives.
The iron core 6 7 is drawn into the coil here and leads the extension 71 out of the way of the lifting rod 72, which is rotated in the clockwise direction by spring force and moves the sleeve 75 to the left, so that the coupling 77, 78. is disengaged. As a result, the gear 79 will run freely on the feed shaft, without transmitting any driving force of the same, whereby the feed stops. By means of the hand lever -61 shown in Fig. 8, the tips are disengaged from engagement with the finished grinded workpieces, the workpieces falling into a collecting container or the like.
A new pair of workpieces are then inserted by means of the insertion device shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. During the introduction, the measuring finger is pressed down to the position indicated in FIG. 6, whereby the contact 64, 65 is broken and the coil 66 is de-energized again. The compression spring 6'8 now presses the iron core out of the coil, and the lifting rod 72 is rotated back into its position indicated in FIG. 9 by means of a hand lever (not shown in the drawing). The approach 71 now comes back into locking engagement with the end of the lifting rod 72. After finishing grinding the last inserted pair of work pieces 3, the course given above is repeated.
10 to 12 schematically show a further embodiment of the invention. In this embodiment, the abrasive body 1 consists of a rotating ring of abrasive material, which is carried by a disc 99 mounted on a horizontal shaft 98. The work headstock 2 carries two clamping devices 4, 5, -which are arranged symmetrically with respect to the vibration axis 6 angled plane a-a, which contains the axis of rotation 100 of the grinding wheel.
When the headstock is set in reciprocating oscillation around the shaft 6 with simultaneous rotation of the grinding wheel and the clamping devices, as well as a relative feed movement between the grinding wheel and the headstock, the rollers 3 are ground in the form of rolling elements . In this case, the generators become exact arcs, and the generators of the two workpieces are completely congruent due to the symmetrical arrangement of the clamping devices, and the workpieces are identical.
During the grinding process, the grinding wheel is shaped in such a way that its working surface lies against the workpiece along its entire effective width, which means that grinding takes place effectively. The work headstock and the means for its oscillation and for achieving a feed movement can in principle be of the construction shown in FIGS. 3 to 9.
In the embodiments of the invention shown in the foregoing, the work headstock is swingable and the grinding wheel headstock is arranged to be slidable in order to target a feed movement. As a further alternative, either the work headstock or the grinding wheel headstock can be arranged to be both displaceable and swingable.
