Process for the preparation of a diogazine dye sulfonic acid. In the main patent no. 186848 and additional patent no. 193,245 is. The representation of dye sulfonic acids from diaryl-amino-1. 4- benzoquinone derivatives or formula:
EMI0001.0011
described by treatment with acidic or alkaline condensing agents, expediently in the presence of organic or inorganic oxidizing agents.
In this formula, R and R, are identified in the main patent. a sulfated, monovalent radical containing more than two rings, in the additional patent a sulfated diarylamine radical which can be substituted on nitrogen.
X and X mean in both: patents hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or halogen. It was found that diarylamino benzoquinone derivatives of the formula:
EMI0001.0040
in which R and R, a sulfated dzaryl, diaryl ether, diaryl sulfide or diaryl urea residue, X and X, hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or halogen. mean, by treatment with acidic or alkaline condensation agents,
useful in the presence of organic or inorganic oxidizing agents, valuable dye sulfonic acids obtained who can.
Treatment with condensation agents of the type mentioned above results in the formation of a diogazine ring closure. In this way new dyes are obtained. for example those of the following general formula:
EMI0002.0003
in which X and X ,. Signify hydrogen, halogen, an alkyl or an aryl, 1t an aryl radical, R1 an -asyl, -O-aryl, -S-aryl and -NH-CO-NH-aryl radical and in which each R. R <-G. group of the above formula contains a sulfonic acid group.
The benzoquinone derivatives used as starting compounds can easily be prepared by condensation of 1. 4-benzocinones, such as benzoquinone, toluquinone, dichlorobenzoquinone, tetrachlorobenzoquinone and others with aminosulfonic acids of a diaryl,
Diaryl ethers, diarylsulfide or a diarylurea or its substitution products in water or alcohol, optionally with the addition of an acid-binding agent.
The easy accessibility of the sulfonic acids of aminodiaryls, aminodiaryl ethers, aminodiaryl sulfides or of aminodiaryl ureas used here as starting products and the large number of possible components result in great versatility in the production of new dye sulfonic acids. The new products color the animal,
vegetable and artificial fibers in real tones, some with very clear nuances.
The subject of the present additional patent is a process for the preparation of a dioxazine dye sulfonic acid, which is characterized in that one mole of chloranil and two moles of 4,4'-di-aminodip.henylurea - 3.
3'-disulfonic acid obtained by condensation in alcohol is converted into the dioxazine compound by treatment with a condensation agent.
Example: 100 parts by weight of the condensation product made from one mole of chloranil and two moles of 4,4'-diaminodiphenylurea-3.
3'-disulfonic acid (obtainable by reacting the two components in aqueous alcohol with the addition of sodium acetate) are heated to 130 'in 2000 parts by weight of sulfuric acid monohydrate for 1 hour. The initially red-brown solution gradually turns blue.
After cooling, the reaction product is poured onto ice, filtered off with suction and the residue is washed neutral with 15% sodium chloride solution. For complete conversion of the dye acid into the sodium salt, the residue is stirred with it. Solo solution, sucks off again and washes neutral with saline solution.
The dye probably has the following constitution:
EMI0002.0118
It is a blue-gray powder that dissolves in water with a reddish blue color and dyes the animal and vegetable fibers as well as viscose and mixed fabrics in clear blue tones. The solution color in concentrated sulfuric acid is blue.
