Electric iron. The previously used, electrically heated irons have the disadvantage that they are not or only insufficiently insulated at the top and therefore lose their heat too quickly, so that they do not constantly maintain a uniform level of heat required for ironing over a long period of time hand it over slowly. In most cases, the insulation is only created in such a way that only the handle of the iron, its supports or both parts are insulated, so that the heat does not spread to them, but is strongly heated against the hood of the iron and this is therefore which radiates heat so that it is withdrawn from the usable surface or ironing plate of the iron.
The unnecessary heating of the cover of the iron not only consumes an unnecessarily large amount of electrical power, so that heating and using the iron is expensive, but heating the cover also has a disruptive effect when the iron is used, because the main focus is not The focus is exclusively on ironing, but above all to ensure that injuries from burns to the hand when touching the cover of the iron are prevented.
The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned. The same applies to an electrically heated iron, the novelty of which is that the hood of the iron is protected against any heat from the ironing plate by insulation, as well as against the radiation of the heat accumulator by an insulating body enclosed by it on the outside.
Thanks to the complete insulation of the hood, the hood can also be made of any material, including porcelain in addition to metal, as well as any easily combustible material such as celluloid, or any other pressed material, wood, etc.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is shown approximately examples in two different Ausfüh. Fig. 1 shows as a first example the iron in a view and a partial longitudinal section with the glass body provided for insulation, while Fig. 2 shows in partial section the iron body of the second example with asbestos and glass wool web layer serving as insulation, FIG. 3 shows in detail.
The protective hood a of the iron does not lie directly on the usable surface or ironing plate b, but both are separated by an insulation c so that the latter cannot transfer heat to the former. Under the hood a is also for Isolie tion in the first example of the resilient, mirrored hollow glass with airless rem space existing insulating body d, which is conveniently located in a gradation e of the bracket plate b and to prevent heat loss and breakage of the Hood a is completely surrounded on the top.
Inside half of the insulating body d is the heat accumulator f, which also engages with its lower circumferential edge g in a gradation h of the ironing plate b, so that in the heated state, the temperatures of the two seek to equalize through heat dissipation and radiation. The inner surface of the insulating body d facing the heat accumulator f is expediently provided with a fire-insensitive material layer i made of porcelain or the like in order to increase its insulating capacity and to protect it especially from any exposure to heat.
The heating wire k is located under the heat accumulator f on the ironing plate b, which is advantageously arranged in such a way that most of the inner surface of the ironing plate b remains uncovered by it, so that the heating wire does not further hinder the re-radiation of the heat from the heat accumulator f . The connection of the heating wire k to the cable can be done in any way.
According to the Ausführungsbei game in Fig. 1 of the drawing, the connection is expediently done through the contact 1, which can be stored in the handle m of the iron or a suitable place, the shape and design of the hood a of the iron can be any, as well as the Material from which it is made, it can even consist of an easily ignitable material,
because the insulating body d completely protects the hood a from any exposure to heat from the heat accumulator and also protects it at its lower edge a 'opposite the ironing plate b through the insulation c is protected from any exposure to heat.
With d 'the melting plug of the vacuum vessel-insulating body d is referred to, which is arranged in such a way that it protrudes into the hollow handle in the iron and is therefore not a hindrance.
The insulating body d can also have any design and will suitably have that of the hood a. This also applies to the insulation n of asbestos and / or fiberglass fiber of the second example, which is provided there in place of the insulating body d made of hollow glass, it being unaffected whether the fiberglass fiber layer is next to one or between two asbestos layers (Fig. 3 of the drawing) is arranged or whether only one fiberglass layer is provided on its own.
In the arrangement according to Fig. 2 an asbestos and glass wool spun layer n as the sole insulation between heat accumulator f and hood a, the lower edge a 'of the insulation n can suitably be bent outwards to act as an intermediate layer c to isolate the hood a from the ironing plate b serve (Fig. 2).
It is also possible for both insulation (hollow glass body and asbestos-glass wool web) to be provided side by side.
The ironing plate b has the front side to its center to be deepened Ausspa ments b1 so that the edge of buttons can be placed in this when ironing and such are not a hindrance.
The memory iron works as follows; After the iron has been heated by being connected to the mains and, in order to be able to iron without a cord, the electric current has been switched off again, the heat is removed from the lower surface of the ironing plate b by the ironing process. The heat accumulator f replaces the dissipating heat once through its direct edge connection with the ironing plate b and, secondly, through the heat radiation, which affects the inner surface of the ironing plate b from the strongly held central part through the heating resistors. This also ensures that the central part of the ironing plate is heated to a great extent.
By the arrangement of the insulating body d respectively. c, the heat accumulator f is deprived of any possibility of emitting its heat in a different direction than just on the bracket plate b, because the insulating body d respectively. n the heat accumulator f from the outside directly sums up, so that the hood a of the iron; which sits isolated on the ironing plate b, remains practically completely cold. As a result, it can be made of any material, even porcelain, without having to be sampled for cracking, and even from easily flammable materials such as celluloid and other pressed material, as well as wood.
