Cross-field DC machine with adjustable short-circuit current strength. The DC machine known as the "Querfeldmaschine" has two pairs of brushes on the commutator. The brushes of the first pair are in the neutral zone and are directly connected to one another by a conductor with a small resistance. The brushes of the second pair are at 90 ° opposite the brushes of the first pair are offset; they therefore touch the points of the commutator; which correspond to the centers of the exciter poles. The armature is supplied with current through the brushes of the second pair.
removed; This current is induced by the "transverse field" which passes through the armature transversely to the axis of the exciter poles, closes in the pole pieces of the exciter poles and is generated by the armature winding short-circuited by the brushes of the first pair when it rotates in the field of the exciter pole .
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a cross-field DC machine so that it can be set for the various short-circuit current paths that are required if necessary in a purely electrical way, namely by simply changing its excitation, even from a remote location the machine is to be used as a power generator for an arc welding system.
When operating such a system, the welding current strength must be chosen from case to case to be different, depending on the nature, in particular the thickness of the workpiece. Since the power generator, which feeds a welding arc, works almost short-circuit, a change in the state of the power generator that changes its short-circuit current strength is a useful means, well known to those skilled in the art, for regulating the welding current strength.
However, this means cannot be used in the cross-field DC machine with a series connection of the excitation winding in such a way that the effect of the excitation winding can be changed, for example, by adjusting a parallel resistor or by connecting and disconnecting windings. With this type of control, the relationship, known as the load characteristic, between the terminal voltage of the machine and the current strength becomes more and more unfavorable the further the short-circuit current strength goes below the achievable maximum value; set for small short-circuit currents, the machine no longer supplies the terminal voltage required for welding.
It is possible, however, to use a cross-field direct current machine designed according to the present invention to control the short-circuit current strength by changing the excitation, which is free from the defect mentioned. In this machine, the excitation winding consists of two parts, namely a main excitation winding and an auxiliary excitation winding, the winding lying on iron, outside the main excitation, depending on the pole pieces of two different main exciter poles on closed magnetic auxiliary paths is arranged.
This divided excitation winding is connected so that the magnetomotive forces of the auxiliary excitation winding are opposed to the magnetic fluxes in the auxiliary magnetic paths that the main excitation winding seeks to drive through the auxiliary paths; Furthermore, the excitation winding is connected to a control device which makes it possible to change the strength ratio of the magnetomotive forces of the auxiliary serreger- winding and the main excitation winding as desired.
In the practical implementation of the invention, the main exciter winding is usually connected in series with the armature and the external circuit. The auxiliary excitation winding could probably also be fed from another power source; but it is advisable to also supply it with the current from the armature of the machine.
The simplest and most suitable embodiment of the invention for practical use is obtained if you switch the main exciter winding and the auxiliary exciter winding parallel to each other and together in series with the armature and the external circuit and place a control resistor in the branch of the auxiliary exciter winding.
The invention will be explained in more detail by the examples shown in the drawing.
1, 2 and 3 are schematic representations of two-pole transverse field direct current machines, which differ from one another by ver different arrangement of the magnetic auxiliary paths and the auxiliary excitation winding; 4 and 5 is a constructively formed part of a pole of a machine executed according to the scheme of FIG. 3 is provided, namely in Fig. 4 in an extended section along the cylinder surface with the track AB in Fig. 5, in Fig 5 in section along the plane with track CD in FIG.
In the figures, 1 is the armature, 2 is the commutator. 3 and 4 are the brushes standing in the neutral zone, which are directly connected to one another by the conductor 5. 6 and 7 are the brushes through which the. Armature the electricity is drawn.
The main excitation winding consists of the coils E1 and E2, which are arranged in the usual way on the shafts 8a, 9a of the poles 8, 9 of the two-pole magnet frame. These poles are called the carriers of the main exciter winding, the main exciter poles. Their pole shoes are labeled 8b and 9b. 10 is the yoke of the magnet frame.
The main excitation winding is connected in series with the armature and the external circuit. The current path runs from brush 6 through line 11, coil E1, line 12, coil E2, line 13 to workpiece 14 via arc 15, welding piston 16, line 17 to brush 7.
With the machine according to Fig. 1, the iron cores h ″ h2, h., h4 are inserted between the pole shoes 8b and 9b and the yoke 10. The cores lt., And lt. :: together with the yoke 10 form a magnetic one Auxiliary path, which lies outside the main excitation winding E1 and is connected with one end to the pole shoe 8b and the other to the pole shoe 9b. Cores h3 and h4 together with yoke 10 form a similar magnetic auxiliary path.
The auxiliary excitation winding consists of the coils e1, e2, e3, e4, which are arranged on the cores hl, h2, h3, h4. These coils are connected in series with one another and all together in parallel with the main field winding E1, E2. The current path leads from line 11, through line 18, coil e3, line 19; Coil e1, line 20, regulator 21, line 22, coil e2, line 23, coil e4, lines 24 and 25 and via 14, 15, 16 to line 17. The auxiliary excitation winding is, like the main excitation winding, in series with the Armature and the external circuit. But it could also be designed as a shunt winding.
To do this, line 25 would have to be interrupted and line 24 would be connected through line 26 directly to line 17. The coils of the excitation winding are connected in such a way that when the polarity of brush 6 is positive, the magnetomotive forces move the directions within the coils have drawn arrows. The coils e1 and e2 act in the same way on the auxiliary path consisting of the cores h1, h2 and the yoke; The coils e3 and e4 also act in the same way on the auxiliary path consisting of the cores h3, h4 and the yoke. In both auxiliary paths, this sense is opposite to the direction in which the magnetomotive forces of the main exciter winding seek to drive a magnetic flux through the auxiliary paths.
In the machine according to FIG. 2, the auxiliary magnetic paths are formed by the cores h5 and h6, which bridge the gaps between the pole pieces 8b and 9b. The auxiliary excitation winding consists of the two coils e5 and e6, which are arranged on the cores h5 and h6. These coils are connected in series with each other and both are connected parallel to the main field winding. The current path of the auxiliary excitation winding goes from line 11 via line 18, coil e6, line 27, coil e5, line 28, regulator 21, lines 29 and 30 and via 14, 15, 16 to line 17, since the auxiliary excitation winding is connected as a series winding. The current path leads via lines 29 and 31, after the line 30 is interrupted, directly to line 17 when the auxiliary exciter winding is switched as a shunt winding.
The directions of the magnetomotive forces of the excitation coils are again indicated by arrows, provided that brush 6 has positive polarity.
In the machine according to FIG. 3, one auxiliary path consists of the yoke 10 and the iron cores h7, h8, and the other consists of the yoke 10 and the iron cores h9 and h10. The iron cores h7 and h9 are set between the yoke and the pole piece 8b in such a way that they lie outside the coil E1 of the main field winding. The happy h8 and h10 are inserted between the yoke and the pole piece 9b so that they are outside the coil E2 of the main exciter winding. The auxiliary excitation winding consists of the two coils e7 and es; the first wraps around the iron cores h7. h2, the shaft 8a of the main exciter pole and the coil E1 of the main exciter winding. The second wraps around the iron cores h8 and h10, the shaft 9a of the main exciter pole and the coil E2 of the main exciter winding.
The circuit of the coils e7 and e8 corresponds to the circuit of the coils e5 and e6 from FIG. 2. The coils e7 and e8 are connected in such a way that their magnetomotive forces, which are indicated by dashed arrows, have the same directions in space like the magnetomotive forces of the main excitation coils, which are indicated by solid arrows, again under the assumption that the brush 6 has positive polarity.
With this arrangement, too, the direction of the magnetomotive forces with which the auxiliary excitation winding acts on the iron cores 7h7, h8, h9, h10 of the auxiliary paths is opposite to the direction in which the main excitation winding tries to drive magnetic fluxes through these iron cores .
When using these machines, only the controller 21 in the branch of the auxiliary excitation winding needs to be adjusted to change the short-circuit current strength. If the resistance in this branch is high, so that the auxiliary excitation winding only carries a weak current, the short-circuit current strength of the machine is small. It assumes higher values if one removes resistance from the branches of the auxiliary excitation winding by adjusting the regulator.
In the construction of the pole 8 of the machine of FIG. 3 shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the cores h7 and h9 of the magnetic auxiliary paths are performed as parts of the pole. The pole is made of sheet metal and is fastened to the yoke 10 by means of the screws 32, which have their nut threads in the shaft 8a and in the parts h7 and h9. Between the pole and the yoke sheets 33 are placed on the seating surfaces of the pole. By changing the number of these sheets, which are made of magnetic or non-magnetic metal as required. the air gap at armature 1 and the resistances of the magnetic paths in the magnet frame can be regulated.
The pole piece 8b has a groove 8e in the middle. It serves to weaken the field in the commutation area of the brush 6 and thereby improve the commutation.
The invention can be carried out in other For men; in particular, the circuit of the divided field winding can be modified in various ways against the circuit that has been chosen for the examples. Not only resistance regulators, but also switches for connecting and disconnecting coil parts or entire coils can be used for the control devices.
