Elektrische Schaltanlage mit thermischer Schaltverzögerung. Die Zeitwerke der bekannten elektrischen Zeitrelais sind durchweg mechanische Vor richtungen, bei .denen die Verzögerung dez Kontaktbetätigung nach erfolgtem Anspre chen entweder durch Uhrwerkshemmunc.,@. durch Massenträgheit oder durch Reibung, und zwar gleitende oder rollende, Flüssig- keits- oder Luftreibung hervorgerufen wird;
Electrical switchgear with thermal switching delay. The timers of the well-known electrical time relays are all mechanical devices, in .denen the delay dez contact activation after Anspre chen either by clockwork inhibition., @. is caused by inertia or by friction, namely sliding or rolling, fluid or air friction;
. It is also known to cause the desired time delay by means of magnetic damping. However, all of these devices require relatively complex and expensive precision mechanical work. It is easier and cheaper to use a principle of deceleration that is used for many other purposes in electrical engineering, namely the thermal expansion of the body. This is useful for all those timing relays in which the fall into the standby position does not need to take place momentarily.
According to the invention, when such a thermally delayed switchgear is to speak, the artificial temperature change of the heat body should begin. An expanding straight or curved rod or wire can serve as the heating element, it can be an expanding liquid column or a body composed of several substances with different expansion numbers, for example a bimetal strip. A timing relay, in which a package of bimetal strips is used as a timer, is shown in the drawing as an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
In the current relay a to be monitored, the elec tromagnet b actuates the contact c in the heating circuit of the (as can be seen from Fig. 2) U-shaped bimetal package d, for example in the event of overcurrent, which is fed, for example, from the battery e via the adjustable resistor f becomes.
As a result of its heating, the package d bends in a certain time (shown in dashed lines) until it closes the contact g, which is in the tripping circuit da of the safety device and, for example, the excitation of the tripping magnet in the circuit a Main switch causes. The delay time can be set to the desired value by means of the resistor j \.
The circuit which is illustrated in the drawing is not essential to the invention. It is not necessary that three separate circuits are used. What matters is only the use of a heating element as a delay device. It can be heated directly, as shown, by current flowing through it, or indirectly, by heating from the outside, by electrical or chemical means (for example by a gas flame). The delay time can be set by regulating the heat supplied to the heating element or the heat removed from it.
Instead of causing the delay time of the relay by the positive expansion of a body when it is heated, it can also be measured by the shrinkage of the same when it cools, for example by interrupting the normal passage of current through the heating body when the relay responds.
