Driving direction indicator for motor vehicles. There are already known direction indicators for motor vehicles in the form of a housing, the display surface of which contains a light field formed from four strips which are separated from one another by webs or partition walls and which are at right angles to one another. In front of the light field, a square, full cover plate that can be moved in linear guides can be moved in such a way that two of the four light strips are always covered, while the other bumps create an arrowhead-shaped surface that shows the direction of travel.
This known design has the disadvantage that in the case of the cover plate guided in slots and under tension, jamming or corners in the guide slots easily occurs.
The invention eliminates this disadvantage in that the cover plate provided with a light slit representing the arrow shaft to achieve a clearer directional symbol can be pivoted into the various display positions by rotating around an axis that goes through the center of the light field and which the cover plate is eccentric attacks.
The drawing shows: FIG. 1 a front view, FIG. 2 a vertical section; FIGS. 3 and 4 indicate different positions.
In a housing 1 there is a disk 2 with a square cutout 3 which is expediently covered with a transparent, light-colored building material 4, for example celluloid, glass or the like. In front of the cut-out disk 2, a likewise square plate 7 is pivotably mounted, which can be rotated by an axis 5 protruding from the center of the square section 3 and somehow supported in the housing 1. This axis engages at a point on the four-cornered cover plate 7, which is located on one of the two diagonals at a certain distance from the center of the square of the plates.
The cover plate 7, which is smaller. as the light field 3 and thus leaves a part of it free in the form of an angle, has a slot 6 which, together with the angle, forms a direction symbol in the form of an arrow. For straight line display, the cover plate 7 is in the position shown in FIG.
If a change in direction, for example to the left, is displayed, the circuit of an electromagnet 9 is closed, whereby the armature provided with a toothing 10 is drawn in, and a gear 8, which is influenced by the armature and is seated on the axis 5, is the Axis together with the cover plate 7 is rotated into the position shown in FIG. 3. The surfaces of the disc 2 and the cover plate 7 are dark.
After opening the circuit of the Mag designated 9, the cover plate 7 returns to its central position (Fig.l) due to its uneven weight distribution. A magnet 12 causes the cover plate 7 to rotate to indicate the right-hand drive. One or more lamps 13 are used to illuminate the direction indicator.
