Description

Printing form carrier. There are printing plate carriers known, for example plates or rollers, on the surface of which an extremely thin coating of acidic or alkaline preparations is made as a flat printing plate, which reacts to the ink writing when an original written in special ink is placed, that the parts of the form that have been in contact with the writing elements immediately or after treatment with a developing liquid take on a greasy color, while the other parts repel them.

For this purpose, plates made of glass or other silicates were preferably proposed as printing form supports.

It has now been found that those with surfaces made of a metal which is inert to the chemical preparations and which do not react to the acidic or alkaline preparations in question are particularly suitable as printing form carriers for these purposes. These parts of the printing forme supports exhibiting the inert metal surfaces can be carried by a different material, for example, represent metal coatings such as chrome plating and the like.

However, the surface part and the remaining part of the printing forme carrier can also form the same body, that is, plates, rollers and cylinders can consist entirely of the metal which is inert to the chemical preparations of the thin coating.

The types of stainless steel commercially available, such as, for example, highly chromium-plated, low-carbon steel, have proven particularly suitable as metals that are inert in the sense mentioned. These behave completely indifferent to the acidic or alkaline preparations in question, so that they can be used completely like a glass plate. They do not need to be specially roughened.

The roughening is sufficient, as it has the rolled surface. Compared to the; Glass mold carriers, the metal mold carriers that are inert to the chemical preparations have the advantage that they can be used in smaller dimensions; as a result are lighter, and that they can also be easily designed both as plates and as rollers.
