Abstract
A glove attachable to a sleeve is disclosed, where the glove has a securing device capable of being harnessed to clothing, such as a jacket sleeve. The securing device includes a miniature retractable cord reel and a fastening portion coupled to the base for attachment to the sleeve. The securing device is attached to a glove or mitten by means of a retractable cord, which may be detachably or permanently attached to the glove.
Description
GLOVE-TO-SLEEVE ATTACHMENT
Technical Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a glove attachable to a sleeve, such as a jacket sleeve. More particularly, the present invention relates to a glove with an integrated attachment consisting of a small retractable cord reel, fixed to a fastening device that can be secured on a sleeve.
Background of the Invention and Prior Art Gloves are used in a wide variety of avenues, such as in fashion, in sports, for sanitation, and as protection. The most popular use of gloves is in cold weather conditions to keep hands warm and to provide protection against frost bite. The user of the gloves may from time to time wish to remove the gloves from the hands, so as to have full use of his/her hands. The gloves may be removed from the hands and replaced on the hands of the user repeatedly while being out in the cold weather. In such instances, the glove has to be stored somewhere where it is readily accessible to the user.
At present, a common solution to this problem is to store the gloves in one's pockets. However, this may create discomfort for the user. Also, a pocket is not always available. In such a situation, the user may choose to store the gloves in a bag, if a bag is present. This approach has the disadvantage that the gloves are no longer readily available to the user. Hence, a common problem with gloves or mittens is that they can easily be misplaced when taken off the hands.
Heretofore, there have been very few patents disclosing a system for securing gloves to clothing to prevent loss. For example, CA patent 2355550, discloses a holder for holding a glove readily accessible to a user, where the holder is attachable to the user's piece of clothing, such as a belt, by means of a hook. US patent 6212688 discloses yet another glove holder to attach firefighters' gloves to their uniform, wherein the holder is attachable to the user by means of a strap, wherein the user can adjustably attach one end to the other to form an enclosure. Prior art; however, fails to provide a quick, comfortable and convenient mechanism for securing the glove to a particle of clothing without the requirement of detaching the glove from the wearer when the glove is taken off.
Summary of the Invention It is the main object of this invention to provide a device for securing the glove to the sleeve to prevent the glove from being misplaced and/or lost. It is still an object of this invention to provide a device for securing the glove to the sleeve, such that the glove stays attached to the sleeve whether or not the glove is on the hand. It is yet a further object of this invention to provide a device for securing the glove to the sleeve such that the glove can be taken off the hand by means of a retractable cord, without separation .from the user's clothing.
The invention pertains to a glove securing device which is capable of securing the glove of the user to the sleeve of the user. The securing device includes a miniature retractable cord reel, enclosed in a casing, and a fastening portion coupled to the base of the casing, for attachment to the sleeve. The securing device is attached to a glove or mitten by means of a retractable cord, the loose end of which may be detachably or permanently attached to the glove. Therefore, the invention provides a practical and fashionable means for securing the glove to the user, such. that the glove cannot be misplaced or lost.
Brief Description of the Figures The invention will be better understood with reference to the drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the glove and its security attachment cord reel;
Figure 2 is a profile view of the cord reel itself; and Figure 3 is a view of the cord reel (as drawn in Figure 2) attached to a sleeve.
Detailed Description of the Invention Reference is made to Figure l, which illustrates the ideal embodiment of the glove 1 and its cord reel security attachment 3. The cord 2, is secured by a metal loop fixed by stitched in material 6. As shown in Figure 2 and 3 the cord reel 3, includes a slip on fastener made of metal 4, which is bent in a way to make it tight at the end 7. The tightness 7 allows a stable grip when slipped on the sleeve of clothing 5. The grip created by the fastener 4, on the retractable cord .reel 3, allows the glove to remain attached to the sleeve by the cord 2.
The glove l, depicted in Figure 1 can thus be removed from the user's hands and let go since it is secured to the sleeve by the fastener and cord from the retractable cord reel 3, as described previously. Reference is made to Figure 2, which illustrates how the cord 2 is able to move in and out of the cord reel 3 allowing the user to comfortable and easily slip on and off the glove.
Reference is made to Figure 3, whereat rest the cord 2 can completely retract out of sight into the cord reel 3, holding the glove snug to the sleeve 5.
The retractable cord reel 3, may be composed of metal or plastic and be available in a variety of colours, shapes and other cosmetic profiles. The connecting assembly 4, can be the metal clamp type attachment described above or be a mechanical fastener where force is required to close and open the clamp.
In Figure one, the glove 1 can be any type of glove or mitten containing the security attachments 2, 3,4,6.
It will be evident to those skilled in the art that the invention can take many forms and that such forms are within the scope of the invention as claimed.
