Abstract
An improved method is provided herein for sheathing a defined length of a pitched cable with a layer of plastic.
In the improved method, the outside diameter of the defined length of cable is first reduced to a smaller diameter, and a plastic pipe is drawn onto this length of reduced diam-eter. Then, by applying an external force to reduce the outside diameter of this plastic pipe, the pipe is fixed in such a way on the pitched cable that at least part of the inner wall of the plastic pipe protrudes into the space between the turns in the pitch elements. The outside diameter of the defined length of the pitch elements may be reduced by grinding the outside diameter smoothly down or by hammering or rolling so that, as a result of this reduc-tion in diameter, no compaction occurs in the material of which the pitch helix or carrier cable is made.
In the improved method, the outside diameter of the defined length of cable is first reduced to a smaller diameter, and a plastic pipe is drawn onto this length of reduced diam-eter.
