Description
~ '~L2~ t.~
This invsntlon ralatas to a hot water anualopa for applying haat against a surfaca araa oF tha anatomy such as the nackg an arm~ a lag, etc~.~
Hot water bottles ara wall known and ara axtansi~ely usad at homa to raliova pain duo to colds, rhaunlatism, arthritis, etc..~ Howaver, thay ara not ganerally made ln a shapa For ~asy application around certain parts of the anatomy, such as tha neck the arms or the lags. In addition, they hava to ba amptiad and reFill~d with hot water as the hot water gats cold.
It is thorafore tha objact of the pressnt invantion to provida an anvalopa for applying haat against a surfaca of tha anatomy whi.ch mora easily fits cartain parts of tha anatomy and which parmits circulation of hot watar so as to aliminate th~
tedious task of amptying ~ d raFilling tha hot water containar ~hen tha hot watar gats cold~ -Tha anvelopa, in accordanca with the invantion, comprisas an olongatad hot watar containar mada oF flRxible material and having a hot watar inlat adjacant ona and and a coolad water outlet adjacant tha othar end, and maans for Fastaning tha anvalopa about a portion of tha anatomy to hold the hot watar containar against the surfaca aroa of tha anatomy.
Tha maans for Fastaning the envelope about a portion of tha anatomy is prafarably cohasive tape.
An inlet tuba is connactad to the hot watar inlat ~or faeding hot water tn the envelopa, and an outlat tuba is cDnnactad to tllrl oo.Lled wator outlet For withdrawir~ the cool watar.
v~lvo i.s normally prouidecl in tha cooled watar outlot For oontrolling tho circulation oF water through the hot water container.
The invention will now ba disclosad~ by way of axampla, with rafaroncs to a prafarred embodimant illustratad in tha accompanying drawings in which~

Rsfsrring to the drawings~ there is shown an envelopE
for applying heat against ths neck of a parsonO Ths envelope comprises an elongated water container lû made ~ rubber and is provided with a hot water inlet nipple 12 adjacent on~ end and ~; -a cooled water outlst nippls 14 adjacent the other end. The anvelope is also provided with means for fastening the ends of ths envelops together around the neck. Such msans can be a cohesiue band 16 known und~r the trade mark "V~lcro".
; The axes of nipplss 12 and 14 are nsarly tangential to the containar 10 where they meet with the latter and the nipples haue a threaded outer endD Inlot and outlet tubes 18 and 20, respectively, ars connected to nipples 12 and 14 for ciroulation of hot water in the envelope. Ths inlet tubs may be connacted to a hot wate~ tap and the outlet tube connected to a suitable drain~
The two tubes could also be connected to a water heater and pump for recirculation of the hot water. A tubs pincher 22 is provi~ed for controlling the flow of hot water in the tubs 20 to save hot water. Of cnursa, other means of controlling the flow of water oan also be ùsed.
rhs hot wat~r container has a roctangular cros~
section and forms an annulu~ with its two ends in separablo abutment;
it may aduantagoously be about 2,5 cm thick, about 6 cm wide and about 40 cm long although oth~r dimensions oan bs envisag~d S0 depsnding on the part of ths anatomy upon which the envalope i8 to bs ussd~ Ths container ~orms a single chamber J
In using the above envelope~ it i9 essential to first apply a piece of flannel or cotton around the neck7 or any other part of the anatomy~ to prevent direct contact of the hot envelope with ths skin. Tha envelope is than applied ov~r the flannHl and tha ends a~ the env~lope aro secured togethar. Thc hot water inlet tuba and tha c301sd water outlet tube are th~n connected to the envolopa. Hot watar is ~ed to ths hot water inlet and tha outlot f`low is controlled by th~ outl~t flow valve~
