Abstract
ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE
Two cylinders connected by a cross beam are sliding on two vertical posts raising and lowering the load that rests on arms hinged to two bars attached to the cylinders.
Two cylinders connected by a cross beam are sliding on two vertical posts raising and lowering the load that rests on arms hinged to two bars attached to the cylinders.
Description
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
My invention is directed toward a two post air hoist comprising two vertical posts on which two cylinders.rigidly connected by a beam are sliding raising and lowering the load that rests on four arms hinged to two bars attached to the two cylinders.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In the drawings~
, Fig 1 is a horizontal view of my invention;
Fig 2 is a cross sectional view along line 1~1 in Fig 1.
'7~
DETAI~ED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Referring to Fig 2, Two Posts 1 and 2 are mounted vertically on the flanges la and 2a. The cylinders 3 and 4 are sliding on the posts when air pressure is applied at the inlet 3a and 4a on the cylinders. The sealing between posts and cylinders is provided by the seals ~ and 6 on the posts and seals 7 and 8 on the cylinders. The load is resting on arms 9, 10, 11 and 12 hinged through the pins 13, 14, 1~ and 16 to the bars 17 and 18 that are attached to the cylinders. A
cross beam 19 is connecting rigidly the two cylinders.
Two angular deviation detecting switches 20 and 21 (mercury switches on other t,vpe) will assure that the two cylinders move so that the bar 19 is ~ept horizontal.
If for ex. cylinder 3 is higher than cylinder 4 the switch 20 will open contacts in the circuit of a solenoid valve on air line leading to inlet 3 until bar 19 becomes horizontal again.
Cavities 3b and 4b between posts and cylinders are filled with oil and connected through two small orifices lb and 2b to the space above the posts. When the cylinders are rising, the oil is forced through the orifices limiting the speed of cylinders.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.

Claims (3)
1. A Two Post Hoist comprising:
two vertical posts on which two cylinders connected by a cross beam are sliding when air pressure is introduced in cylinders lifting an automotive vehicle or other load resting on four arms, two of which are pivoting on vertical pins attached to the lower end of one of the cylinders and the other two arms are in the same way attached to the other cylinder.
two vertical posts on which two cylinders connected by a cross beam are sliding when air pressure is introduced in cylinders lifting an automotive vehicle or other load resting on four arms, two of which are pivoting on vertical pins attached to the lower end of one of the cylinders and the other two arms are in the same way attached to the other cylinder.
2. The Two Post Hoist of claim 1 where one or more angular deviation detecting switches such as mercury switches are mounted on the cross beam connecting the cylinders to detect an unequal advance of cylinders and consequently reduce the pressure or shut off air flow to one of the cylinders to bring the cross beam to a horizontal position.
3. The Two Post Hoist of claim 1 where oil filled in the space between cylinder's walls and posts is forced to pass through a small orifice to the space above posts to limit the speed of cylinders.
