Abstract

"REFINING PLATE SEGMENT FOR REFINING LIGNOCELLULOSIC MATERIAL, REFINER, AND, PROCESS TO DIRECT THE FLOW OF THE FOOD AND STEAM MATERIAL". A refining plate for the face of a refining disc comprising a plurality of refining segments (10) arranged side by side on the face of the disc to form a substantially annular refining region. Each refining segment has a plurality of bars (32, 34), baffles (46) and grooves (36, 38) to refine a lignocellulosic material and form a zigzag path to receive and transmit steam generated during the refining process. The baffles define a series of substantially curved lines (56), extending from an intermediate position to the junction of the inlet and refinement zones to the outer edge of the refining plate in the counter-rotation direction.
