<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Method for manufacturing a seating furniture and seating furniture manufactured according to this method".
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a piece of seating furniture.
The object of the invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a seating furniture which is simple and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
is economical and with which a seating furniture with an attractive appearance can be obtained.
To this end, two shells are made, one shell is at least partially slid over the other and the two shells are fixed relative to each other and the shells are fixed relative to a base.
In a particular embodiment of the invention, two shells are produced which have a recess and the shells are slid over each other such that the recesses meet each other, and at least one of these two recesses is at least partially closed off by a bottom cover. element that is attached to at least one of the shells.
Preferably, the bottom element of the two shells is secured such that it at least partially closes the recess of the two shells and secures the two shells relative to each other.
In a remarkable embodiment of the invention the shells are manufactured such that when they are slid over one another and the recesses meet each other, the outer edges of the shells are at least partially substantially coincident.
The two shells are expediently attached to each other practically at the position of the practically coincident outer edges by means of an adhesive.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, to secure the two shells together, cover at least one of the two shells at least
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
partly on at least one side with a coating.
When the two shells are slid into each other, the edges of the covering are expediently clamped between these two shells.
The invention also relates to the seating furniture manufactured according to the method according to one of the previous embodiments.
Other particularities and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a method for manufacturing a seating furniture from a seating furniture manufactured according to this method. This description is given by way of example only and does not limit the invention; the reference numbers relate to the attached drawings.
Figure 1 is a front view of a seating furniture manufactured according to the method according to the invention.
Figure 2 represents a cross-section according to the line II-II of figure 1, but the upholstery / seat furniture has not been drawn.
Figure 3 is a detail representation of part of the cross-section of figure 2, in which the upholstery of the seating furniture has been drawn.
In the different figures, like reference numbers refer to like elements.
To manufacture the seating furniture shown in the figures, which is a seat, one proceeds as follows.
Two shells 1 and 2 are made of a plastic.
These two shells 1 and 2 are from an identical recess 3
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
which occurs near a side edge of the shell at a small distance from this side edge. The shape of the shells 1 and 2 is such that the shell 2 can be slid over the shell 1, such that the recesses are just opposite each other while the outer edges of the shells coincide. The shell 1, which is to form the inside of the seat, is covered on the inside with a cover formed by a layer of foam plastic 4 on which a fabric 5 is adhered. With the aid of a press, this coating is glued to the inside of the shell 1, with the layer of plastic 4 facing the shell.
The lining 4, 5 protrudes with its edges slightly beyond the extreme edges of the shell 1 and slightly into the recess 3. Almost simultaneously with the coating of the shell 1, a bottom element 6 is attached to the outside of the portion of the shell located around the recess 3. This bottom element 6 comprises a frame of an elastic material between the sides of which strips. elastic material. In this way, this bottom element 6 partially closes off the recess 3 in the shell 1. The frame of the bottom element 6 is fastened to the shell 1 by staples. The width of the sides forming this frame and their length are such that these sides partly abut the shell 1 and partly face the recess 3.
When attaching the bottom element 6 to the shell 1, the edges of the covering 4,5 protruding into the recess 3 between the frame of this bottom element and the shell 1 are clamped.
With the aid of the other press stamp, the shape of which corresponds to the outside of the shell 2, it is glued
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a coating, which also consists of a layer of foam plastic 4 and a fabric 5, on the outside of this shell 2.
This covering 4,5 protrudes with its edges outside the extreme edges of the shell 2 and into the recess 3 in this shell.
By bringing the two stamps of the press towards each other, the shell 2 is now slid over the shell 1, such that the recesses 3 in the two shells meet and the extreme edges of the two shells meet.
The shape of the two shells is such that they remain at a distance from each other, except at their edges, so that the seating furniture acquires a certain thickness. Around the recesses 3, the distance between the two shells 1 and 2 is practically equal to the thickness of the frame of the bottom element 6. While the shells 1 and 2 are being brought together, the edges of the covers 4,5 which are outside the outermost limit are clamped. edges of the shells 1 and 2, after having folded these edges of the covering around the outer edges of the shells, protrude between the two shells 1 and 2.
By the way, the opposite outer edges of the two shells are glued together. The edge of the covering 4,5 protruding in the recess 3 of the shell 2 is also folded over the edge of the shell 2 which delimits the recess 3. This folded edge of the covering is clamped between the shell 2 and the frame of elastic material of the bottom element 6. The tray 2 is then fastened to the bottom element 6 with staples.
The two shells 1 and 2 are thus not only glued together with their extreme edges, but also attached to each other by the bottom element 6.
Since the recess 3 in the shell 2 is practically the same as that in the shell 1, the frame comes off the bottom
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
element 6 partly against the inside of the part of the shell 2 that comes around the recess 3 and also partly opposite this recess 3 in the shell 2. To the part of the frame of the bottom element 6 opposite this recess 3 is fastened another pedestal 7. This pedestal is practically in the shape of two cones that connect with their tops. The two conical parts of the base 7 are rotatable with respect to each other and are provided with a coating. Along the side of the shell 1, another cushion 8 is placed on the resilient bottom element 6. In this way a seat as shown in the figures is obtained.
The invention is by no means limited to the embodiment described above and within the scope of the patent application many changes can be made to the described embodiment, including in the shape, composition, arrangement and number of parts used. can be used for realizing the invention.
