contrôlés par un petit ressort à, boudin aommun dis- posé en sens diamétral, logé et guidé dans les perforations envisa- gées ci-dessus, et dont l'un est destiné à pénétrer dans une perfora- tion de la douille coudée pour émerger de celle-ci et ainsi fixer la position et exercer une pression sur la faoe de la périphérie in- térieure de la douille coudée ou vice-versa suivant la rotation de 180 donnée à la douille coudée portant le manche de manoeuvre;

The present patent relates to an orientable device for fixing removable maintenance means, advantageously fixed to an operating handle.
By means of maintenance - should be understood natural or artificial sponges such as foam rubber, rags, brushes or other articles liable to be pinched by the jaws and held by them during the work.
The device envisaged in accordance with the present patent comprises two concentric tubes which slide in the longitudinal direction with respect to one another without internal rotation, provided at their upper end with a jaw extending in the horizontal direction of. so that the jaws thus formed can move away and come closer to one another to allow the insertion and the maintenance of the maintenance means, by and under the control of a coil spring housed in the inner tube, the lower end of which is supported on the edges of perforations projecting internally on the peripheral wall of said inner tube,
and the upper end on a small crosspiece arranged in diametral direction and can grout

cer at its ends in longitudinal slots, diametrically opposite the inner tube, to then engage and fix in diametrically opposed perforations of the outer tube where it remains held by the pressure of the spring, while being removable, thanks to the presence of a small hook formed at each end of the said cross member, while a bent tubular sleeve receiving the operating handle at one of its ends, is engaged by friction by its other end on the lower end of the inner tube on which it can be oriented at will in 180 positions, by the presence of two diametrically opposed press studs,
controlled by a small spring with a communal coil arranged in a diametral direction, housed and guided in the perforations envisaged above, and one of which is intended to penetrate a perforation of the elbow sleeve to emerge from this and thus fix the position and exert pressure on the faoe of the inner periphery of the bent bush or vice versa according to the rotation of 180 given to the bent bush carrying the operating handle;
In order to better demonstrate the above description of the subject of the invention, the appended drawings represent sohematically, for explanatory and non-limiting purposes, an embodiment of the subject of the invention without however excluding the modalities. of execution equivalent to the characteristics presented by the object of the invention.
For this purpose, FIG. 1 shows a front elevational view of the device.
Fig.3 shows the plan view of Fig; 1: Fig.3 shows a side view of Fig.l.
Fig.4 shows a side view similar to Fig.3, in which the elbow sleeve where the operating handle is fixed, has been rotated 180.
Fig. 5 shows a sectional elevation, along V - V, Fig.l
Fig. 6 represents, on a larger scale a section, along VI - VI, Fig. 1, showing the arrangement of the elbow sleeve of the handle with respect to the inner tube on which it can be moved.

in the rotary direction of 1800 to obtain the desired orientation of the operating stick accordingly.
Fig, 7 shows an elevational view of a construction detail.
Referring to the figures above, the device envisaged comprises an outer tube 1 provided at its upper part with a jaw extending it horizontally and at its lower end with a bead 4 intended to form a support for the hand embracing the part. 1, when by pushing downward with the hand, the outer tube 1 is forced to slide downward, as will be explained below.
Concentrically with gentle friction is arranged the inner tube 2, the upper end of which is provided with a jaw 2a also extending horizontally and the space 23 between the jaws 1a; and 2a is intended to house and maintain the maintenance means used.
The upper part of the jar 2a will advantageously be provided with support lugs 3 of a scraper 3a furnished with a wiping edge in common use,
As indicated, the two tubes 1 and 2 can slide longitudinally but without rotation and this with respect to each other, due to the fact that the inner tube 2 is provided for a certain length with two diametrically opposed longitudinal slots 6, through of which slots is disposed a small cross member 7, see Fig. 7, forming a guide slide, the ends of which projecting from the slots 6 are engaged in diametrically opposed perforations 8 made in the cylindrical wall of the outer tube 1.
The ends 9 of the small cross member 7 are bent upwards to prevent it from disengaging during the downward thrust, by the upper end 18 of a central spring 17 housed internally in the tube. 2. The lower end 19 of the spring 17 is supported on stops formed by the outer edges 14 of perforations 13 projecting internally on the peripheral wall of the tube 2, see Fig.5 and 6,
The perforations 13 of the tube 3 are used to house and guide
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
der small pushers 1a arranged in diametral direction and provided at their inner end with a small rim 15 abutting against the edges 14 indicated above under Inaction of a small common thrust spring 16 engaged in diametrical direction between the two pushers 12.
The outer ends 20 of the pushers 12 are rounded.
On the lower end of the inner tube 2 is frictionally engaged the upper part of an angled bush 10 having a perforation 11 with a diameter slightly greater than that of a head 20 of the pushers 12. The lower part of the bent bush 10 is intended to receive the fitting of the handle or operating arm 21 which is fixed by means of a screw or a nail 22.
It follows that according to the orientation at 180 given to the elbow socket 10, the latter is oriented and held in the position chosen, according to Fig.3 or Fig.4. depending on whether the left or right pusher 12 has been able to engage in the perforation 11 appearing in front of it and thus bring about the immobilization of the sleeve 1a relative to the tube 2, see Fig. 4, while the other pusher 1a, see Fig.3, presses by its head 20 on the inner peripheral face of the elbow bush 10, see Fig.3 and Fig.6. If we turn the bush 10 by 180, it is then the left pusher 12 as in Fig. 6, which emerges and its opposite which presses on the inner wall of the bush 10.
it will be noted that the spring 17, compressed between the small tra .. verse 7 and the bearing edges 14 of the tube 2, always exerts a thrust upwards of the outer tube 1, so that by gripping the tube 1 and exerting downward pressure it moves with its movable jaw la which moves away from the fixed jaw 2, see dotted line of Fig. 3, which allows the placement or removal of a maintenance means at 23, between the two jaws. and 2a or its replacement by another.
When the pressure of the hand ceases on 1, automatically by the thrust of the spring 17, the tube 1 rises with its maohoire 1a and the latter then fixes the maintenance means,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Assuming that you want to wash the face of the glass of a window attic in front of you, the device will be oriented according to Fig-3., But if you want to wash the opposite face which is on the outside, with the operator remaining in place, the angled bush 10 is turned with its handle 21 by 180, see Fig. 4, which is easily done by pressing the finger on the emerging end 20 of the pusher 12 forcing the retraction of the pusher which controlled this position, and continuing to turn the sleeve lo,
its opening 11 ends up presenting itself in front of the entrance of a pusher 1a which in turn penetrates into the immobilization perforation 11,
When it is desired not to stabilize the handle, and only to use the device comprising the tubes a and 1, the latter then being gripped by the operator's hand, the pusher 12 is pushed into the socket 10 adjoining the handle 21 and the latter assembly is removed by pulling it backwards, to bring about the disconnection.
For the. refitting, the operation is carried out in the opposite direction, that is to say that the sleeve 10 is introduced towards the lower end of the tube 1 and by a rotational movement, the engagement in the stabilization position of one of the pushers is caused 12 in the opening 11 of the elbow sleeve 10.
In summary, it should be considered as coming within the scope of the present patent, an orientable device for fixing removable maintenance means, advantageously fixed to an operating handle.
