<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

IMPROVEMENTS TO METAL TENTS IN THE FORM OF PLATES.
The present invention relates to improvements to mobile tents formed from sheets or plates of metal or other suitable material, intended for industrial and commercial establishments, markets, garages and other places where effective and appropriate protection is required against rain and sun.
After an in-depth study and several tests, the applicant has developed a mobile tent or awning, with great mobility, extremely practical, very efficient, with gentle movements and affordable price.
From the point of view of its operation, this tent is equipped with rigid arms, movable in articulation pieces adjacent to a wall and serving to move a certain number of parallel plates,
arranged in steps and independent of one another
The retraction (putting out of service) of the tent is not done frontally, as in the majority of known tents, but rather laterally, the tent according to the invention affecting the form of a staircase leaning against a wall and being able to pivot. 180 around its axis.
The drawings appended to this specification (floors A, B and C) illustrate the invention. Plate 2 bears Figures I, II and III, plate B, Figure IV and plate C Figures V, VI, VII , VIII and IX.
In these drawings: - figure 1 shows a complete tent seen in perspective from above; - figure II shows this tent turned to the left, and - figure III shows it already retrasted against the wall to which it is leaned (during this movement to the left, the tent swivels on 90).
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
- figure IV shows the elements of the tent separated, this view giving an exact impression of its construction in the smallest details, which makes it possible to clearly understand how the component parts of the tent are shaped; - Figure V shows the rigid arm, which supports and moves the plates; - figure VI shows this arm in place on the fixed supports, figure VII shows a support part of the tent plates, this support part, carrying at its ends, as shown in figure VIII, a curved claw, and Figure IX shows the support piece mounted under a plate or sheet of metal or other suitable material.
The tent has at least two rigid arms (A), composed of two tubular branches (1,2) arranged in such a way as to form a horizontal "V" The upper branch (1) is slightly inclined downwards, as in general , in all tents. Between the two branches (1,2) is disposed a tubular reinforcement part (3), while at their free end the branches (1,2) carry vertical sleeves (4) integral with the branches in question.
The arms are kept suspended in a horizontal position by fixed rings (5), the latter, as well as the vertical sleeves (4), being crossed by pins (6), as in a hinge. The rings in question are, in turn, secured to a strut 7, which is fixed to the wall in the most suitable manner.
The upper branch (1) of the rigid arms (A) carries pins (8), to which are articulated the support pieces (B) of the plates (9) forming the tent.
These support pieces (B) are formed from a horizontal powder (10) of an inclined and flat part (11) and two curved claws (12,13), the claw (12) provided at the upper end of the parts. of the support (B) being turned upwards, while the claw (13) provided at the lower end of the support pieces is turned downwards. These claws adapt exactly to the shape of the plates (9). The lower claws (13) are flexible and pressure-adjusted.
The horizontal beam (10) carries a sleeve (14) in which fits one of the pins (8) carried by the inclined branch (1) of the arm (A), which is free to move laterally.
The branch (2) of the same rigid arm (A) supports a bar (15) which penetrates into one of the holes (16) made in one of the rings (5). The bar (15) is actuated by a tie rod (17), which is accessed by a manual operating device (19). A spring (18) tends to keep the bar (15) engaged in one of the holes (16). Thanks to this arrangement, the tent can be fixed in any angular position, so as to oppose the action of the wind.
The support pieces (B) hold the plates (9) - which can be fixed by screws or by welding for more security arranged in steps, according to the inclination of the branch (1) of the rigid arms (A).
At its front part, the tent carries, suspended from the last plate, a suspended slat (20, intended to receive an inscription, for example the name of the establishment where the tent is located.
The number of plates, support pieces and rigid arms is variable depending on the dimensions of the tent. These elements can be of any suitable material, in particular aluminum, plastic, glass, etc.
This tent marks a great advance in the industry of movable roofing elements and is recommended for its qualities of simplicity, practicality, mobility, lightness and resistance.
