<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

LIFTING BRIDGE AND TRANSPORT OF MOTOR VEHICLES.
The object of the present invention relates to a device for lifting motor vehicles, provided with an additional system by means of which the vehicle, after having been lowered, can be placed on an assembly trolley, with a view to of its subsequent transport.
The lifting device itself is made up of a single beam bridge, which offers the advantage of saving metal and is very little disturbing as regards access, from below, to the various parts of the vehicle. raised.
So that the use of the lifting bridge is not limited to a specific type of vehicle due to the arrangement of the support points on this bridge, pivoting arms are provided which are integral with the longitudinal beam or with a platform. form established in the form of an oroix, as is known per se. When the supporting member is constituted by a longitudinal beam, the pivoting arms are mounted on a sliding part which can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the beam. When the carrying member is constituted by a cross platform, the pivoting arms are fixed directly to bolts integral with the arms of the cross and are themselves provided with slides forming the supports for the vehicle to be lifted.
According to the invention, and in order to improve the constructions known to date, the support beam of the lifting bridge is provided on either side of the piston of the cylinder with sliding parts, movable in the direction of their longitudinal axis and bearing in their turn, the pivoting arms articulated in pairs and on which are arranged support members movable in the direction of their longitudinal axis, as well as adjustable in height, these members being intended to form the supports for the desams of the vehicle.
Thanks to this arrangement, the useful radius of the support points integral with the pivoting arms is notably greater than in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
known devices, so that all points of the vehicle can find support. Thanks to the fact that the pivoting arms are arranged in pairs on each sliding part, the construction of the lifting bridge is simplified. The swivel arms can first be moved along the support beam of the lifting bridge and then be adjusted to accommodate vehicles of varying length, after which the support members integral with the swivel arms are moved to their position. turn along these, so as to adapt to the required support points, these support members being further adjusted in height.
When the vehicle is lowered and other repairs have to be carried out elsewhere in the workshop, a transport device called an assembly trolley is provided for this purpose, which is made up of two shaped arms. fork, advantageously provided with three support points.
Such an assembly trolley can be brought under the lifted vehicle, so that the piston of the lifting bridge cylinder comes to lie between the two branches of the fork, after which the vehicle can be lowered so as to rest on it. the assembly trolley and to be transported using it.
An exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the lifting bridge, the latter being shown at the bottom of its pit, that is to say in the rest position.
Fig. 2 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows a detail.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the lifting bridge in the position of use.
Fig.-5 shows in perspective the assembly carriage intended to receive and transport the vehicle after it has been lowered.
At the upper end, preferably mounted to pivot, of the piston of the lifting cylinder, is rigidly fixed the support beam 2.
The latter preferably consists of a double T-beam and is consolidated, in particular against warping, by means of reinforcing elements.
Sliding parts 3 are mounted for longitudinal displacement on the support beam 2, on either side of the lifting piston 1, these sliding parts being provided with heels with hooks 4 through which they engage under the upper flange of the support beam 2.
The sliding parts 3 are each provided with arms 6 which can pivot about 1800 around the shafts 5, these arms being in turn provided with support members 7, movable in the longitudinal direction and whose height position is adjustable. . These support members are guided in slots 8 of the pivoting arms 6, while the support plates 9 of these members can be adjusted in height by means of threaded rods. 10.
There is provided in each of the support plates 9 a rubber cushion 12, on. which rests the corresponding part of the vehicle to be lifted.
In order to prevent the lifted vehicle from falling from the lift bridge as a result of slipping, three holes 13 are provided in each support plate 9 for receiving safety pins.
The assembly carriage assigned to the lifting device according to the invention and shown in FIG. 5 consists of two arms 13 forming a fork and joined together at one end by means of a sturdy cross member 14 and further provided with four supporting rollers 15.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The cross member 14 is provided with a trestle 16, which comprises a removable support element 17, the height position of which can be adjusted and fixed. The free ends -, 'of the arms or branches 13 of the fork are provided with vertical uprights 18, forming a trestle, with interchangeable support elements 19. Behind the trestle 16 is a second trestle 20, in which the element. support 17 can be inserted in the case of vehicles whose center of gravity occupies a position other than that which allows the use of the trestle 16.
The easel 20 can be slidably mounted in an adjustable locking position on the branches 13 of the fork so that it can be used with vehicles of all types.
When the vehicle lifted by the bridge has to be transported to another location, the assembly trolley is brought according to Fig. 5 under the bridge and the vehicle lowered by the point is placed on this trolley. Next, piston 1 continues to descend on its own, after which the pivoting arms 6 are brought back inwards, as shown in Fig. 5 thus the vehicle placed on the assembly trolley can be transported to any desired location.
