<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Fig 2 is a section taken along line II-II of fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan corresponding to fig 1.
Fig. 4 is a side elevation of an element.
Fig. 5 is a plan corresponding to FIG. 4.
A hollow column 1, forming at its base a flared base 2, is fixed by screws 3 on a sole 4.
A head 5, constituted by a cylindrical sleeve, rests on a shoulder 6 of the column 1 by means of balls 7 forming a thrust bearing.
The head 5 has at its upper part a shoulder 8 to which is fixed, by screws 9, a friction wheel 10. The friction wheel carries a sleeve 11 forming a spacer member, which is also secured to the head. 5 by screws 9 and on which a circular table 12 is fixed by screws 13.
An electric motor 14 is secured by screws and bolts 15 on the top of a bracket 16, one end of which is mounted on a pin 17 carried by tabs 18 fixed to the sole 4. The other end of the console 16 carries a lever 19 guided in a yoke 20 and a counterweight 21 is suspended from the free end of the lever 19.
The motor drives a stepped pulley 22 keyed on its shaft. This pulley is connected to a second pulley 23 with multiple grooves by a belt 24, mounted on a shaft 25. A worm 26 is also fixed on the shaft 25 and drives a pinion or a toothed wheel 27, of which the shaft also carries a bevel gear 28.
The bevel gear 28 engages a second bevel gear 29 wedged at 90 relative to the gear 28 and it drives a shaft 30 which carries, at its free end, a friction roller 31 in engagement with the friction wheel 10.
The shaft carrying the worm 26 and the pulley 23, as well as the shaft carrying the pinions 27 and 28, are mounted at 90 to each other in a certer 32 fixed on one side of a table 33, itself mounted on a pin 34, supported by brackets 35, fixed by any suitable means on the sole 4.
A gooseneck 36 (fig. 1 and 2) is also fixed at its base on the table 33 and carries a sleeve 37 forming a thrust bearing, against which a ring 38 integral with the shaft 30 bears.
A second cylindrical sleeve 39, forming a bearing, is mounted on the shaft 30 between the bearing 37 and the roller 31. This bearing 39 is held on the shaft 30 between two rings 40 41 fixed to the latter by pins 42.
The bearing 39 has a hole 43 against the bottom of which bears a spring 44 pressed at its other end against a movable stop 45 mounted at the end of an adjusting screw 46.
The adjustment screw 46 is screwed into a tapped hole provided in the heel 47 of a caliper 48 whose branches carry, at their ends, journals 49 which play in the holes of the column 1.
The friction roller 31 is fixed to the end of the shaft 30
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
by means of a cap 50, fixed to the latter by a pin 51.
Screws 52 secure the cap and the roller 31. The working surface 53 of the roller 31 is advantageously of trapezoidal section and engages in a groove 54, of corresponding section, formed on the edge of the friction wheel 10.
55 and 56 respectively denote masts on which are mounted arms 57 and 58, which are adjustable angularly and in the direction of height.
One or more gas rails 59, carried by sliding sleeves 60, are mounted on the arm 58.
The arm 57 is formed by a hollow tube pierced with holes 61, so as to form a water ramp for cooling.
The entire mechanism, consisting of the motor 14, the reduction and transmission members, is enclosed in a casing 62 suitably fixed to the sole 4.
The screw 46 regulating the pressure exerted by the spring on the bearing 39 provides the optimum pressure required for the friction roller 31 to drive the friction wheel 10 with the best possible efficiency.
The motor 14 being mounted on a pivoting console, the belt connecting the pulleys 22 and 23 is always under tension because of the mass of the motor to which is added that of the counterweight 21.
Only the pulley 22 has decreasing steps so that the inclination of the console 16 changes depending on the step on which the belt 24 is placed.
A metal strip 63 is engaged in - holes 64 or 65 of the yoke 20 according to the inclination of the console 16, so as to stop the fall of the lever 19 in the event of the belt 24 breaking.
Stripping and / or storage bins 64, 65 of the parts to be assembled are arranged around the machine on a part of the circumference corresponding substantially to the angle at which the table 12 rotates during the loading and unloading time. unloading of the parts to be welded
The table 12 has a side flange 66 and an inclined bottom 67 whose slope is directed towards the center, so that the water falling from the ramp 51 flows towards a hole 68 then by a pipe 69 inside. , from column 1.
A gasket 70 and a plate 71 close off the bottom of the column 1 and a drain hole 72 is drilled in the wall of the latter.
Lugs 73 are fixed on the bottom 67 of the table 12 in a number of combinations. The lugs 73 correspond to cells 74 (figo 4) formed on the underside of supports 75 intended to support the parts to be welded.
The pins 4 and 5 represent a support 75 intended to carry a water box 76 of a radiator. A tube base 77 must be welded to this box. For this, guides 78 match the internal prq il of the box 76 and a guide 79, consisting, for example, of sheet crosses 1, maintains the tube 77 to be welded.
Supports 75 are placed on the table 12 of the machine, so that the pins 73 penetrate into the cells 74, then, as AND

measurement of the rotation of the table, driven by the motor-14., boxes 76 are placed on the supports 75. The tubes 77 are then placed on the guides 79 and a weld ring 80 is placed around each tube.
The direction of rotation of the table being suitably chosen, the assembly described above first passes under the gas train 59, which heats the place or places to be welded by melting the weld ring or rings 80.
A determined angle is left free to allow pre-cooling and solidification of the weld, then the assembly described above passes under the cooling water rail 57. The operator then removes the radiator box and places the various elements. described for the following operation.
Depending on the time required for loading and unloading the machine, depending on the type of welding equipment, the operator changes the speed of rotation of the table 12 by placing the belt 24 on one or the other. other of the steps of pulley 22.
The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment described, since various modifications can be made to it without departing from its scope.
In particular, the driving of the table can be carried out in different ways; similarly, the rotation of the table can control a valve which turns off the gas train during the time between the passage of two welding devices.
